I haven’t forgotten you honestly!

Colin's romantic mashI just don't seem to have had any time this last week to bring you up to speed with THE MOVE! Infact after delivery of the boxes, I lost the laptop for a few days!! :)

Well, my little cottage now looks a great deal less like home as all the photos and paintings and special things have been taken down and parcelled up by yours truly, Colin and my friend Ros, who very kindly came and spent the day with us to help out.

I had a bit of a wrangle with the removal company about getting the boxes delivered in time for Ros's arrival, but having assured me that they would let me know once they were loaded up, I found out purely by chance that the delivery lorry was at my home while I was on a train to London! Luckily for me my landlord was in the vicinity, so he went along and let the chap leave them all in the sitting room – I needed crampons and climbing boots to get through the front door!

Ironically the reason for my journey to London was to do a piece on BBC Radio London all about moving house! The presenter Jo Good – who is a friend of Pipa's – called me on the Monday and so in the freezing cold I headed off to Broadcasting House.

Do you know, I'd forgotten how much I enjoy radio, and Jo was delightful. She's just taken over Danny Baker's afternoon show and I have to admit to completely losing it on air while discussing the virtues of a lemon! Very funny. The following morning it was back to work, and it was BITTER outside. If it hadn't have been for Maroon 5 I'd have never made it in! I have lost my ice scraper, and used their CD album to scrape the windows and screen :)

I got up very early and hadn't had time for breakfast – I actually felt hungry enough to have eaten my gloves! It was very slow on the roads that morning because of freezing fog, and I found myself at one point, sat next to a man in an Audi A3, dressed for the Arctic! He had a hat, scarf, skiiing jacket, earmuffs and huge gloves on ! Maybe he had no heating!

It was still pretty cold when I got back home last night, but Colin was waiting for me and had made this delicious meal of chicken parcels with stilton and parma ham – delicious. The heart-shaped mashed potato made it for me though :)

Well I'm going to have to rush off as I am with Nicky Gerwitz for our Gift and Give Day! I hope that your week has gone well, and that you will let me know how you are. Actually moving on the 18th, and then in to work for the Clarisonic's launch – if I don't get packed away that is!

Take care and have a great weekend, love Ali xx

Seasons Greetings Ali, I love Maroon 5 and pleased to hear that they are useful as well as talented, I’m sure that Mr Levine would approve! I also love your potato heart; your Colin is a gorgeous man. I got up incredibly early today because my Colin thought it would be “interesting” to go to deepest, darkest Gloucestershire to watch the Severn Bore. It was extremely muddy and the rain was falling at 45 degrees, however, we met some lovely and very hardy folk and then came home via Cheltenham. The visit to that elegant town was so that I could buy chocolate covered cherries to accompany the brownie cake we have for pudding on Christmas Eve, which sounds ridiculous but I wasn’t going to pay p&p on an item that costs £4.95. I have always preferred Christmas Eve to Christmas Day and celebrate it the way my mums family, who were Polish, did with a Star Supper. The cake is my addition from a recipe I found years ago and the girls have asked for it every Christmas. I hope the move goes smoothly and that the weather is kind. Love from Jo – if I don’t get another opportunity before Christmas I wish you a very Merry Christmas and look forward to your wonderful company in 2013.

Dear Ali how lovely of Colin to make you such a romantic meal after a hard days work. I bet you will be glad when the move is over and you can settle into your new home. Homes always look a bit untidy over Christmas, so just drape some tinsel over all the boxes, put your tree up and no one will notice !!!
I know what you mean about problems with cars. I was up early the other day and the ice was thick. I had driven for a couple of minutes and the accelerator stuck I think it froze, it was so scary as I changed gears to slow down the engine was screaming, so I pulled over and had to wait for a while eventually the car did stop making that awful noise, but it certainly put the wind up me!!We have just finished putting the tree up(it was quite wet as we had left it in the garden) and the house looks very Christmassy, we have even put a small one in the porch with lovely soft twinkling lights which will greet my son and his girlfriend, as my husband has gone to collect them from the station, and we are all going out for Christmas lunch tomorrow.
Next time you blog you will be in your new home, another chapter in your life. I have sent you a card to QVC so hopefully you will receive it in the next couple of days.
Take good care Ali, try not to get too stressed! In case you don’t blog before Christmas, I wish you and your family a very merry Christmas, speak soon love Janet xx

Good morning Ali, having just watched a Lulu G repeat at 5am this Monday morning and hearing your comment about Christmas parcels in boxes and that you were moving in 5 days leads be to believe that you may be moving NOW or have already done so…Hope everything arrives and all your boxes are accounted for..here’s to a few days of chaos!! Anyhow the breaking news is that I am the proud owner of a Lulu G!!! Not a bag unfortunately as I went to CostCo at Thurrock last weekend to buy my Xmas meat and goodies etc with my husbands cousin as I have done for a few years now but, after necessity shopping we had a look round the retail park (would have been rude not too since we were there) and went into TK Maxx..I love a good rummage in that store! Where is this leading, I hear you ask? Well, whilst rummaging in the bag department I came across a black leather snakeskin effect Kipling bag (another great passion of mine) which quite frankly had my name on it and had to be purchased, especially as the RRP was £185 and I bought it for £65.99..would have been even more rude not to have bought it..so I did. So, not quite enough left in the pot for a Lulu bag BUT I have bought the red coin purse with the platform shoe on the front..what a fabulous compromise!
Oh and please thank Colin for the heart mash idea..what a lovely romantic gesture. I dished up toad in the hole to my kids this week with a heart shape portion of mash rather than the usual dollop and they thought I had been at the Christmas Baileys already!!
Had our dept Christmas party on Thursday so noithing too raucas as most had to go to work Friday but we all did ‘secret santa’..not really a secrtet as we had worked out who was buying for who..I got the Girls Aloud CD ‘TEN’ and its been playing very loudly in my car since..a great listen and one to open up the vocal chords if you no what I mean despite my ‘pitching issues’.
Last week of school this week so countdown started already to FRiday. Have a smooth move..hope you got my xmas card. Love Mary xxx

Haven’t forgotten about you either Ali xx I’ve been reading all your blogs religiously and have been thrilled that life is being so kind to you. I’m also so excited for yourself and Colin re the move. How you have the energy to fit everything in I don’t know, especially with Christmas just around the corner. I will definitely be thinking of you on Tuesday (tomorrow) and hope everything goes smoothly; how exciting x You are looking so well; long may it be so. How are the children? Are you still staying North of the River Ali. I often look out for you at the Shopping Centres because I know you’re not a million miles from me but, sadly, haven’t bumped into you yet! As for being ready for Christmas, I’m never ready. I try to be on the ball every year but I never am; I’m usually still wrapping presents on Christmas Eve. Thank goodness for that marvellous Elemis TSV. I love QVC but, like Mary, I also love TK Maxx. I do a lot of my shopping there and I’m not too far from a Home Sense either, which is great. Hope you all have a lovely Christmas, in your new home, and may it bring you nothing but happiness.
    Lots of love, Gail xxxxxxxxxx

Wishing everyone on here a peaceful, happy and healthy Christmas and 2013. Thanks for putting your stories on here – always something amusing.
Hope the move goes smoothly, Ali, and just decorate the boxes. It will be fine!!!
I am having a spinal nerve block injection on Friday in the hope that will ease my back pain a bit. Worse bit is I have to be at the hospital for 7.45am so leaving home an hour earlier. At least we’ll miss rush hour….
Went to Budapest last weekend – via Bratislava. All due to a fire closing Budapest airport. We then had the joys of a 4+ hour coach trip through the countryside. It was bleak and flat! Made the most of our Saturday in Budapest and saw tons and did lots. Saw The Nutcracker ballet at the state opera house on Sunday before a smooth journey home. Great trip though!!!
    Season’s Greetings, one and all.

Hi Ali, just watching you on the Perricone hour and thinking what an inspiration to women you are … You have managed to move house, get the Christmas thing organised, do quite a lot of shifts on air and you don’t look a bit worn out; in fact you look gorgeous. I really like how you have started to wear your hair up, it really suits you. Please tell me how to create that look … did you put it into a ponytail first or just use grips or combes? Or did you use the Ken Paves scrunchie or clip in style a do? Thank you for your cheery upbeat presenting and I wish you and your family a wonderful 2013 in your new home, Nicky xx
