I don't think I've mentioned exactly the extent of my project – my hubby always likes to refer to the work as 'my project' thus absolving him from all responsibility should there be any problems!!
Anyway the new central heating system is up and running and is an absolute dream. No longer are we either sweating buckets or freezing in the Dawson household. The loft conversion is complete except for the bathroom, but unfortunately we are still waiting for the stairs to be built so we can actually access it!
The first floor extension has started but we have no roof on this side of the house so we cannot use our dining room (why do all kids and husbands love dinner in front of the TV?). Once this extension is up we will be extending a couple of bedrooms and building a further one with another bathroom.
Still left to do:
- Refurbish a bathroom and cloakroom.
- Extend and fit new kitchen.
- Landscape back and front gardens (rubble and cement mixers are definitely not a good look!!).
- Redecorate and fit new carpets and flooring.
Hubby reckons it would have been easier to bulldoze the house down and start again, and I'm beginning to think that he has a point. Hey ho, I'm sure it will all be wonderful when it's finished.
My builders reckon the bits that are in process will be done in a couple of weeks. Lovely guys, great workers, but the words 'salt' and 'pinch' do come to mind!!
Is it just me or does having your house refurbished turn you into a bit of a cynic??
