15 amazing years of Butler & Wilson at QVC!

56

Simon Wilson last year at the Butler & Wilson Anniversary party I'm so looking forward to this coming weekend spending 8 hours in the company of Simon Wilson to celebrate his 15th anniversary with QVC. I spoke to him earlier in the week and he is really excited about all the gorgeous new designs he has got lined up for you.

When you see Simon so relaxed on QVC these days it's hard to imagine that he was really quite nervous for our first show… and so was I! I wonder if any of you saw it and remember that he brought his Westie called Paddington on air?

We have had some great shows together over the years and from some spectacular locations. Last year Simon celebrated his 40th Anniversary (photo above left), but earlier today I was looking at some of the footage from his 30th Anniversary Fashion Show which took place at the Natural History Museum. The location was magnificent with the diners sat around the huge dinosaur in the main hall and the models in their amazing outfits parading down the central staircase.

There were over 30 models, including Yasmin Le Bon, and they all gave their services for nothing to help raise money for the Royal Marsden hospital, one of Simon's favourite charities. There were loads of celebrities giving their support including David Puttnam, Simon Le Bon and Kid Creole (without his coconuts!!!) – all in all a fabulous evening raising lots of money for a very worthwhile cause.

Only about a year later we did the live show from Atlantis on Paradise Island, the Bahamas. Again I was looking back at the footage of that show today and it just looked so incredible. We were outside in the gardens of the resort with the beaches and the Caribbean Sea as our backdrop… we should definitely do that again (hint hint!).

The other extreme was the Christmas Show we did from a freezing cold Manor House in Hertfordshire – it took us hours to thaw out after that one!

Simon is more to me than just a guest on QVC. He is a genuinely caring and kind-hearted person, and of course incredibly talented in his jewellery designs. He has a wonderful imagination and, like you, I can hardly wait to see what he has in store for us on Friday, Saturday and Sunday this week at 7pm.

I have something for him too – sparkly, spotty and red and black… if you want to find out what it is, you'll have to tune in!

Love,
Julia xx

Simon is lovely – he signed a copy of the Butler & Wilson Anniversary book (you must all buy it) for me for my big birthday earlier in the year.
I shall be watching the programmes with a nice glass of Pimms – yummm!

Hi Julia, I to am looking forward to the upcoming shows. I love Butler & Wilson and really enjoy the shows with you and Simon. I was lucky enough to meet him last year in his shop and my friends and I thought he was lovely, but being a Glasgow boy what else would you expect! Best wishes for the shows.

    Hi Julia
Can’t wait for the upcomings shows so excited. My mum first started to buy Butler & Wilson from QVC many years ago and I started borrowing hers now I have my own collection and I must say its amazing. When we sit down to watch you both it really comes accross how much the customers mean to you I love how Simon never forgets his scottish ladies (us being from Edinburgh) but the passion and dedication you both show to the viewers is really heart felt and for that I thank you both because you know it is genuine, not to mention how funny you both are when you get together the warmth and respect you have for each other come accross. But aside all that the jewellery is stunning, amazing, to die for, elegant, fantastic, creative, mind blowing does that tell you how much I love and enjoy Simon’s designs I hope so. All the best to you both mum and I will be watching as always.
    Love Samantha & Angela Murray
P.S. How’s Sophie getting on in her band can we have an update?

Oh and many moons ago you were asking about vegetarian recipes, I wonder if you managed to try(source) the breadfuit or yam I suggested?? Par-boil 15 minutes. Sea-salt,black pepper and olive oil coating, then roast in the oven for 40 minutes. YUM!!

    Hi Julia
Iam watching you and Simon now on my computer, I did watch the first hour and half on the TV but my husband wanted to watch a film so thank God for computers, I just can”t miss this.
I bought the Union Jack & crown earring and the red lips necklace so far, but Iam sure by the rest of the week-end I”ll add lots more to that.
I had to turn down 2 dinner invitations this week-end to watch you, but so far the show is been so much fun, who needs to go out.
My best friend had a B.B.Q arranged for this Sunday, but when she seen the QVC ad about the B&W show, she called me, to say that she changed it to a lunch time B.B.Q just for me not to miss the show, that is what I call a great friend.
It is so great to see the show thought the last 15 years and the clips that QVC show, I”ve been watching for the last 15 years and it just gets better and better, look forward to the next 15.
    Lots of love.

    Hi Julia
I have just finished watching the show tonight (Friday) and as usual it was superb,I have bought two necklaces to add to my collection which is fast approaching two hundred pieces now.
Simon is such a character, I didn’t know that he used to have a Westie, that must explain why for me he is the only creator to truly capture the shape of the Westie head properly. I have two Westies who used to bark at the Westie suitcase when it was shown on the shows! They have since got used to it as it sits in my spare bedroom.
I will be watching the rest of the shows this weekend, I hope that you both enjoy them as much as I know I will.
Hope that your Mum is soon feeling better, god bless you all

I adore Simon’s designs and was lucky enough to wear his shell flower hair slide (bought from QVC) for my wedding day 3 years ago, I had so many comments saying how unusual it was and so much nicer than a tiara. I have no children yet but I hope that one day I’ll be able to pass it down to a daughter for her to wear on her wedding day too.
Can’t wait for the shows this weekend and having a giggle along with Simon and Julia,I have already had a sneaky look and already bought something!!

    Hi Julia
I watched the 1st show last night. You were both on grand form. Didnt Ali look beautiful. Easy to see why Simon is so taken with her, and the banter they have is just brilliant. he has such an easy way with him.
If the 1st show is anything to go by, we are in for real treat with the rest of the, Hmmmmmm, Im intrigued, cant wait to see what you have for him!!!!!!
I managed to get the little panda earrings. They are a gift for my god daughter. She is 21 in September. I was the 1st visitor when she was born, and I took in a cute little panda, to sit in the funny little fish tank cot thing they use in the hospitals!!
She still has “Herman”, even took him in her backpack when she went to Machu Pichu in Peru!!! So Im sure she will love the earrings.
    Looking forward to tonight!!
My best wishes to Simon. I

I`m guessing that you have got a new ladybird for Simon –can`t wait to see , he does love them so much —not!!
Thanks to QVC for the free postage on the shows —makes a great saving when you want to get a few items

Managed to watch a little bit of each show. The pair of you are quite a double act and I loved your ballerina dress!!! Unfortunately, didn’t buy anything this time, but there was a lovely Westie brooch… maybe next time!
Thank you for the advice on the Back Magic Plus… it is absolutely brilliant! I’m still on the first level with the nodule side and can’t believe the stretch you get out of it, it really opens up your rib cage and chest and you do feel and walk taller and for me, every little helps at 5’2″! Can I also add that whilst lying there it is really good for checking you chest area for any abnormalities.

We took our daughters along too for the first time and my daughter was thrilled that he gave her a hug. It made our trip! We treated them to their first of many items I think! Also bought the butterfly brooch for myself from the Saturday show.
Looking forward to the next shows in October.

    Hello Ruth
Judging by the day you posted you must be talking about the green dress? It is a VERY old Karen Millen – 6 or 7 seven years old at least. I wore it for a show we did from Vicenza in Italy, and Simon texted me to say how much he loved the colour on me so I wore it especially for him!
Hope you enjoyed all the shows

So pleased you are finding the back magic useful – and that is a very good point you made about being in a good position to check breast tissue.
The ballerina dress was another ‘old’ Karen Millen – I bought it to wear for my 50th birthday party 4 years ago, but have only worn it once since as it was too tight!!!! It’s now a little on the loose side. Was in Karen Millen yesterday as I am desperate for some trousers that fit me – I had to ask the assistant to change the size I had selected from a 12 to a 10 ………… how good did that feel! ( mind you they were stretchy LOL !)

It is the toning and sculpting that Pilates gives which really makes a difference to your shape.

Wow, how good must you feel getting into a size 10… I’m sooo green with envy!!
Talking about clothes that you’ve had for a while, I’ve just seen a jacket on the internet in one of the new Autumn/Winter collections and it’s identical to one that I’ve just put out in the garage because I thought it was out of date, plus it’s got trousers to match…. I’m going to fish them back out when I’ve posted this!
The Diet Chef is still going well and it’s so easy, what with Chris being away most of the week. I have lost a couple of those naughty lbs that I put on, but have not weighed myself this week because, although reaching the big ’50’, I’m still getting those terrible bloaty months…

    Hi Julia,
Thanks for three great shows with Simon over the weekend. I love to watch the two of you together. The banter between you is so funny. My daughter and myself bought quite a few items but I must admit I did cheat a bit and have a sneaky look online to make sure we got what we wanted. I knew the shows would be fast paced but even I was surprised just how fast things sold out. I do hope you had a lot of extra staff on in Liverpool so that new customers stood a chance. I’m sure you did and you must all have been totally exhausted by the end.
I hadn’t intended watching the accessories show this morning as I’d bought so much from the jewellery shows but in the end I couldn’t resist and when I saw the angel dogs tee shirt I just had to get it for my daughter. I could kiss Simon for bringing us that design as it shows a rottweiler puppy as an angel. We have two rottweilers and am sad that usually people see them as devil dogs which couldn’t be further from the truth. My daughter is friends with many other rottie owners on Facebook and intends to put a picture of the top on there and point them in the direction of QVC to buy one for themselves. I would love it if Simon could put this design on a bag and if he would consider doing a rottie brooch.

Better to have a pair of trousers with stretch in than without and if you’re not quite there yet, you still got to ask for the size 10, so you must be pretty close, well done!
I’ve just orderd another Ronni Nicole dress from the web first section, it’s slightly more fitted, so in anticipation I’ve ordered the size 12 and hopefully it will be 3rd time lucky and there won’t be any ‘skinning a sausage’ moments LOL! The dress looks absolutely gorgeous in shades of purple!

Simon has a show on QVC’s 17th birthday, October 1st, at 5p.m. but I’m not on with him as I have the following 3 hours with Ralph Rossini from Honora pearls – no doubt Simon will have something to say about that!
The next run of shows after that are on the 15th and 16th October so put it in your diary!
    love

I LOVE the Butler and Wilson shows and every time I am in London I visit at least one of the shops. While I missed out on the breast cancer care panda, I was one of the lucky few who got the original spinning watch TSV (and I also have the second one in three colours). I love Simon’s animals and I am having lustful thoughts about his crocodiles. Anything to do with peacocks is also a big hit with me. My mother is a big rooster fan and has a growing collection. Could you please ask Simon if he could do a rooster? It would be a great present for her (she is a breast cancer survivor and I always think of her when I watch the Breast Cancer Care event).

    Hi Nicole
I also have the original spinning dial watch but I missed out on the second one so lucky you having it in all 3 colours. Simon has a nack with animals – they are very 3D which gives them a much more ‘real’ look even in the wild colour schemes.
I’ll try to remember to ask him about a rooster – is your Mum a rooster in Chinese astrology?
Hope you enjoyed the shows over the last few days
    love
