Last month was our Autumn/Winter Jewellery Month, and among the fab trends we were talking about was black jewellery.
You’ve voted with your wallets and told us that you want MORE, MORE, MORE, so we wanted to dive a little deeper with the idea of layering black jewellery with black clothing. That’s something super-stylish blogger Alex Stedman got us onto when she visited us for our Jewellery Month photoshoot, but how does this idea work away from the glitz and lights of the studio?
We nabbed Jewellery buyer Simran between meetings recently to see how’s she’s rocking the trend.
Of course, black is probably everyone’s go-to colour when thinking ‘office appropriate’ but – as the little black dress will attest – black doesn’t have to mean dull; in fact, Simran is actually hitting about 14 different jewellery trends here at once (slight exaggeration but seriously, how cool is the effect?).
Rose gold seems to have been a fashion must-have for about four years and shows no sign of going away, because it plays amazingly into the trend for understated luxury; it’s just a little more subtle than yellow gold but still feels every bit as special. Eclectic rings are also achingly fashionable, as are mixed materials (i.e. leather with sparkling stones and glossy metals), geometrics and stacked wristwear.
She’s wearing a geometric ring and matching bangle (both of which are currently at HQ on trial), a Bronzo Italia cross bracelet and stacking ring, plus two pre-production versions of a Diamonique tennis bracelet that we can’t tell you much about yet (but should be available in December with Christmas delivery at a very special price… *theatrical wink*).
Jewellery this co-ordinated would look massively OTT if it were in a flashier colour, but here it complements the clothing to add depth, texture and movement. A simple Bronzo Italia necklace with spinel stations and a disc ring complete the look.
