Last week’s survey results are further down!

Horse Riding – off for a ‘hack’!

TiFFT* alert! What a lovely experience this week to be out for a ‘hack’ – no, not a bad cough (fner fner) but a proper horse ride – my first ever and my second experience on horse back. Thanks to lovely Fiona our legmaster guest who lives nearby and owns horses, off I went on little Jack and she was on Fudge, for a 45 min walk through the local Abinger woodland. I must admit it was a bit easier this time and I’m sure using her device also helps with the knee-grip! I hope to learn to canter at some stage although atm my ‘rising trot’ is more of a ‘grip for dear life and try to do pelvic floor movements when the horse’s back smacks against my bum’ trot… Will keep you informed! Here we were in the midst of it…

My first Choc-Lit book in some bookshops now – update – heard from a very excited lady this week on Facebook who told me she had already been able to pre-order my paperback! Just ask for ‘Take a Chance on Me’ from UK Publisher Choc Lit and let me know if you find one by emailing me with a pic if you see it near you! Find out more about exactly where and how to get it.

Take A Chance on Me

And watch this video if you haven’t seen it, of the day my first copy came through my door. Squeeee! Exciting times! PS Friday 20th is the Carol Hochman T0day’s Special Value nightwear.

Liz Earle Well being And this is something else you’ll find in big newsagents – our lovely Liz Earle’s new mag – she was here selling out her lovely jewellery this week – (just like Kelly Hoppen did – her shows were virtual sell outs!)

Debbie and Liz Earle

I found Liz behind the scenes – here’s her special message for us all!

When I’m cleaning windows…

Here’s another TiFFT* – as I passed the Factory Shop in Dorking High St the other day coming away from magic hands Richard in Balanced Chiropractic, I was reminded of my student job – helping my dad in his contract cleaning firm. And it was too much to resist – watch…!

I can say it gave me a little thrill – just a little one, mind you, lol. And reminded me that my own need doing, but mine are tiny little panes so I can’t do the squeegee thing!

Last Week’s Survey – Fashion Focus : sizing.

fashion sizing survey

Thanks to the 317 people who took part! Here’s a quick summary of the results –

  1. How often do you shop for fashion from QVC – over seven out of ten are always, often or sometimes
  2. What helps you purchase your correct size – consistency of sizing is as vital to two out of three, as hearing measurements of fabric; next most important is hearing presenters’ sizes and what they’re wearing – maybe we should make up presenters’ size files for the screen? (one out of two use it as a barometer) Models’ info is vital to nearly four out of ten.
  3. Aspects you choose – long sleeves etc. NB less than 9% want sleeveless. Plus shorter trousers seem to be more in demand than 31″. Also nearly 60% buy longer tops/tunics. But surprisingly nearly 60% also buy our footwear – I will do another more specific survey about footwear.
  4. Things you’d like to change – not enough petite etc – lots of feedback, and individual comments.
  5. Your height – interestingly biggest group is 45% who are 5’4-5’8, taller than UK average ; 38% are under 5’4 so vast majority of our customers (83%, more than four out of five) are under 5’9.
  6. Your high st size – 22% ie over one in five, nearly one in four are 14-16. About 17% are the next size up or the next size down (12-14 or 16-18) then 18-20 is another 12%. Not that many are actually the smallest or the largest sizes, a total of 5% are under size ten; just a total of 8% are above a size 22.

And if you’d like to see what you missed, here’s last week’s webchat!

What did I see in my garden coming towards me after dark…

In this week’s newsletter, you’ll find out! Also the Spanish Christmas ad that’s more moving than all the UK ones (apparently – see what you think!) Sign up on my website if you’d like to get the emails each week too – lots more news about other stuff and exclusive videos too. This week’s exclusive first-look was Tom from the Apprentice/StyleFile fame, talking about what it’s like working for Lord Sugar, and it went out to all my email subscribers on my weekly website newsletter! Read it all now. And check out the Christmas sock! Am trying to raise a smile on social media after so much awful stuff lately, with a regular ‘advent calendar’ of different Christmas sock designs – if you see any good ones anywhere let me know! Gracie seemed to like them, or maybe it was the smell…!LOL.

And here’s that little video clip from one of this week’s guests – Tom from the Apprentice, back on air Saturday 9am with his ‘stylefile’ and some insights into his world, which includes Lord Sugar!

Twitter TiFFT* Well another week, another milestone! Reached 15,000 twitter followers – that’s great ‘cos a lot of them are lovely QVC peeps who regularly watch out for my updates on upcoming One Time Only bargains etc! Follow me @debbieflint.

Doggy update And here’s how little Gracie is doing now, a month after her stem cell op. She’s able to jump up on her back legs and is definitely more comfortable, although only subtle changes so far.

ALSO – the Medical Detection Dogs charity Mega Draw is picking up momentum – we’ve just been given a Downton Abbey book signed by the cast too! Tickets go on sale 1-14 December via Just Giving. More info on my charity web page about it all here.

Vintage Fair in Guildford had a lovely catch up with my beautiful girl and my lovely niece – lots of fun and giggles. Not so good with the vintage stuff as this one was smaller – if you know of any good ones, let me know! Maybe we should run one at some point for charity!

Party Time Well I rarely go to parties and just made the tail end of a big birthday bash for pal Sarah last weekend, where I had a nice catch up till the early hours with my old mate Mark who went to school with my bro Glenn. Love marky and his partner! Been so busy of late – am quite exhausted with such a social life! Hehe!

Debbie and friend Mark

Antthony catch up and of course a lovely supper with my pal from LA whose shows were so popular we ran out of products and my 11pm with him ended up being a Yong Kim show instead! But he and I at least had a super supper in Chiswick and it was really nice spending time with him as usual.

Debbie and Antthony

Sad Week. Well it’s been a bit of a difficult week, and for many, even more so. The small stuff is not so important – especially, *sigh,* more of the same old same old tedious online unpleasantness, which pales into insignificance with certain events going on around you, or in others’ lives. One pal’s mum and son were in hospital separately on one day, and another pal’s 90 year old mum died five days after her 92 year old dad. Thinking of everyone touched by sadness and feeling grateful my issues are small stuff. Our thoughts are with you guys, the important people.

Read It Write It Sell It Especially in a week when my own book looks like charting at some point on a high street book shop’s chart – even if it’s outside the top 100 I’m still impressed and feeling very lucky. So I’ve done a list of the books that can inspire and you’ll find them on my RiWiSi blog, where you’ll also find my Book of the Week…

Book of the Week – Julia’s next novel! This lovely cover by our shared cover creator Angela Oltmann from Canada is so appealing isn’t it? Info on my Riwisi blog click here.

If He Really Loved Me cover

Blooper Chloe’s been at it again! I must admit when she and Keeley get together it’s a riot! Here’s a couple of her antics last weekend on our record breaking Elemis Today’s Special Value event!

Facebook Funny Well considering some of the rubbish that’s claimed on the internet this one seemed apt! lol. Funny…!

Il Divo on QVC – What with Anastacia performing on our morning show last week, we’re offering some fab CDs lately! Here’s a little soupçon of Il Divo, from when they came in this week! Fab! And get their CD for £9 with free P&P.

Watch – ‘Jobs’ – the Steve Jobs story. Saw this at the cinema midweek and whilst there I bought myself an Odeon ‘Limitless’ pass – which costs £17.50 a month and gets you in to unlimited films! Whoop! Go twice and it’s more than paid for. Anyway, the film whilst full of scenes of heated debate, centred around trying to prove the guy was in some way human – and it was interesting to watch them unfold. Split into three main scenes, that’s all, it is somewhat unusual but since the stellar cast includes Kate Winslett as his assistant and an amazing performance from Michael Fassbender as Jobs himself plus Seth Rogan playing the infamous character of Jobs’ co-creator who got lost along the way. Fab film if you love biopics with a difference. Hmmm… 8 out of ten due to the amazing acting and the way they gave you the insights into what was going on behind the scenes as the world of computers changed around the world. It stops long short of the end of his story, but was fascinating. Watch his landmark speech launching the iPhone on YouTube – who’d have thought this was all totally unknown back in 2007 – just EIGHT years ago!  By then a hundred million ipods had been sold. Then watch this trailer and go see. Next week – Brooklyn and maybe if I’m lucky, another one or two too, now I’ve got ‘Limitless’!

This week on QVC UK – no!no! Sunday, loveRocks set of 10 bracelets Monday, Emu Northerly Lo Water resistant boots on Thursday. Then after the fab DAB radio by Emma Bridgewater on Black Friday, join me for another exciting weekend next weekend!

Next week – It’ll be Alright on the Night recording behind the scenes! And hopefully another update on the Mega Draw for Medical Detection Dogs – some blimmin amaaaazing prizes in this Christmas raffle! And first sighting of my book in a proper grown up bookshop? Unless you find one first! Email me if so! And results of the makeup survey… Busy  Busy!

Have a great week.

    Hi Debbie,
Lol do you go anywhere without taking a selfie!? I can’t help with vintage fairs I’m afraid. Unsure. I’m glad to hear dog is doing OK now. Hope she continues to. And I just wanted to add my thoughts about Paris. Unbelievable and horrific. And now tonight Africa too. It’s just awful. And yes I can’t be doing with the silly things with all this going on. Really we have more important things to be worrying about!
Have a nice weekend, Susan x

Great blog interesting stuff from the fashion survey would also like longer length centigrade coats would definitely buy ,same for a lot of the dresses just too short, not tall but like longer to hide fat knees and make me look taller and slimmer.
Thanks for everything you do, Debbie ‘s
