As wedding season approaches, we though we’d get you in the mood as we caught up with our lovely Honora pearls guest Jessica who got married last October. Read on to find out how her special day went and how much of a part her beautiful Honora jewellery played on the day.
“Wow. 11 months have gone by since Gianni proposed to me and already 10 days have passed since we got back from our honeymoon! I couldn’t really understand when friends of mine would tell me that time would go by so fast. They kept on telling me to really enjoy every single moment, every single detail that had to do with my special day, as it was going to be so unique and full of emotions. They were so right, that the day after the wedding I was kind of sad and nostalgic but incredibly happy of how things went! It was really so special and I can never stop thanking every single person that was there. We were only 70, but enough to create a magical atmosphere, full of positive energy, love and laughter.
The day of the wedding started pretty early as it really takes so much time to get ready. The weather seemed to be cloudy and looked as if it was going to rain. I kept on hoping it would not and not one drop of water seemed to hit the ground up to that moment. I didn’t stop hoping that it would last all day. My step daughter Chiara and myself headed over to my best friend Barbara’s hair salon, where it took around two and a half hours to do our hair and my make-up! The main theme of my wedding was the elegant Tuscan shabby chic atmosphere and look. I never had any kind of doubt that pearls were simply perfect with this kind of theme. So I had them also in my hairstyle. I got so many compliments for them as they suited perfectly in contrast with the colour of my hair.
My other best friend Elena was so nice to bring us some fresh baked croissants, which helped get the energy going! It was exciting and it really brought me back to when I was a child and I would gather with girls to play around with the dolls – same feeling! Once done, we moved to the location where both the ceremony and the reception would take place. Gianni and I agreed since the beginning that to have everything all in one spot would have made it easier for everyone. They all appreciated it indeed.
I also had a nice country chic apartment available for us to get ready and dress up and that is where we took the very first picture, well Chiara took it for us. She pointed the camera diagonally towards us and said “that is how nice modern pictures are taken!”. We all laughed and smiled at the camera. After looking at the picture I noticed we all had our Honora pearls on in the different colours!
Time flew and my father was waiting for me outside, his eyes were full of tears and when he saw me he just let them go. It was such an intimate and heart touching moment for us. We walked to the entrance of church and waited for Gianni and Chiara to walk up the aisle first. I couldn’t really believe I was there and I was about to get married! I started smiling and just couldn’t stop.
The Ceremony was such a celebration. The reverend spoke beautifully. He kept repeating words such as love, freedom and joyfulness. We were all so carried away with his words that we could not stop listening. We laughed and we cried, as so many emotions came out especially when my mother in law Perla, asked to read a letter that she had written to us. We held our hands and looked at each other once in a while until the end of the mass. We were now married and a beautiful applause filled the church with such an incredible energy. We took some pictures inside and outside the church with all the parents, it was a blessing to have them all there in that day and believe or not the weather was getting better and better.
One of my favourite pictures is the one I took with my mom! We started laughing for some kind of reason and what I noticed in her face is that she really started to relax. She really helped so much in the preparation for the wedding in all these months. She had her ‘must-have’ Honora studs. She’s always updating her colours and did all she could to find the dress to go with her pearls. The colour she was wearing is a sort of light blue similar to an aquamarine shade. It gave so much light to her face and made her Greek olive-toned skin so beautiful. She is a summer person and she loves to choose brighter colours. She always says “if summer is not out, I’m bringing it in!”
Taking care of all the details was challenging and fun. Rosa, Elena and my sisters Silvia and Alessandra really helped in putting together so many things: the wedding invites which were simply adorable with the string of pearls on them, the wedding bags with the confetti, arranging the gift favours on a nice chest of drawers we found there at the location. The gift favours were locally handmade frames, with our favourite quotes inside. Everyone got to choose the one they liked as they were all different from one another. The only thing we physically didn’t take care of were the flower arrangements and the table settings, that would have been too much for me! Yet Marta, the florist and the catering did an incredible job!
The Honora Pearls I wore, and we all wore stood out for both their beauty and for what they represent -perfection. Perfect for that day, so natural to wear, suitable for so many different looks and remarkably ageless. For my mother, my step daughter and my friends who enjoyed them as much as I did. I am so grateful for being able to share all this with you at home which makes it even a bigger reunion than what it was. This day is THE day I will remember to be the most beautiful and magical ever! Everything was perfect and my step daughter Chiara’s blessing was the cherry on the top, I could not have desired more than this!”
