Hollywood here I come!

Julia looking glam in Butler & Wilson I hope you all enjoyed the Butler and Wilson shows this week and managed to get hold of the stunning TSV necklace in your preferred colour choice. In the end I think my favourite was the silver – so sparkly!

It's amazing how Simon Wilson just keeps coming up with new ideas and new twists on some of the original pieces from the seventies. He's next with us for the Get Gorgeous weekend in mid May with a fab TSV bag – put it in your diary!

We've had some great shows together including in the early days of QVC, a show live from the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas. It was very amusing as most of us arrived very pale and acquired a bit of a tan as the week progressed. Simon arrived bronzed and got paler – turns out he'd been St. Tropezed (the fake tan not the upmarket resort in the south of France!).

The Bahamas, as you can imagine, was very warm; the Manor House in Hertfordshire, where this photo was taken, was not! It was December and there was no heating on … it was freezing cold. We did the show sat in front of an open fire and even with all the television lights on we had goosebumps and our teeth were chattering!

Fortunately you guys loved the jewellery so much that we finished 20 minutes early as everything had sold out, and a mad dash for the thermals ensued! Simon took the photo during the rehearsal and we were both suprised at the result – on the bottom of the pic he wrote 'Hollywood here I come. How amazing do you look… Lots of love, Simon xx'.

If I had been a Hollywood actress there is a role from my favourite film that I would have loved to play. Any ideas what it is?? Here's a clue, "Tomorrow is another day". Slight problem though, I would have had to change my name!!!

The dress was a vintage piece from his Fulham Road collection and fitted to perfection… I wish I'd bought it, it was beautiful.

Talking of lovely clothes, don't miss out on the Ronni Nicole 1st Anniversary shows on Wednesday – I'm doing the 5pm show, so hope to see you there.

Much love,
Julia. x.

    Hi Julia
Or should I say Miss Scarlett?!!! I think that was a quote from Gone with the Wind. Who would your Rhett Butler be I wonder, hmmmmm, Mr Biagi perhaps, hes certainly tall enough.
What a beautiful dress, you look absolutely stunning. I love to watch Simons shows, he is so charismatic. I dont have any of his collection, they are very beautiful, but just not me I think.
    Love Una x

    Hi Julia
I Loved Simon”s shows this week, got the TSV in Lilac, it is my favourite colour. Also got an earring. It is amazing that I”ve been watching Simon on QVC from the early days, and never watched a show without buying something, he is great.
And when it is the two of you together, it is so much fun, the hour just fly by.
I”ll be in London for the mid May show, but I”ll be watching, I love Simon”s bags I got 10 so far, but there is always room for another one!
I”ve been to Simon”s shop twice before and talked to him, he made me feel like I”ve known him for years. In May I”ll be visiting his Fulham road shop, and hope to buy a vintage dress for a party later this year.
I remember watching the show from the Manor House, you looked amazing in that dress, but again like Steven said you always look amazing. Can”t wait to meet you in May.
    Much love.

    Hi Julia,
Don’t you look fabulous in that dress?.Wish I went to posh events like that, I would love the opportunity to wear something like that. I enjoyed your show with Simon you would make a fantastic comedy duo.I didn’t buy anything this time as my jewellery box is overflowing, although the TSV was beautiful, but as I say I dont go anywhere where I could show it off to its full potential.Iv’e got a few of Simon’s brooches and I wear them all the time, they are beautiful. Love Jen

    Hello Una
You guessed it in one!!! I have always loved ‘Gone With The Wind’ as a movie and as I’ve got older have understood Scarlett’s character better. She did some awful things but usually she thought she was doing them with good reason. I have so many favourite moments but none of them involve Ashley who I thought was a wimp and could never understand Scarlett’s infatuation …………. you see how real she was for me?
It was a beautiful dress and I felt a million dollars in it!
One day Una you will be tempted by one of Simon’s pieces even if it is one of the less ‘showy’ designs!
    much love

    Hi Magda
I know you are a big Simon fan and so pleased you treated yourself to the TSV – you deserve it after the troubles you’ve been having with your health. Thankyou for your compliment – Steven does rather spoil me doesn’t he??
Looking forward to seeing you too in May

Help Julia!!!!! Have just watched the Ronni Nichol show you were presenting and am afraid to say even with Q cut i still wasn’t quick enough to secure two of the dresses (one of which i would have loved to wear for a special birthday treat to London to see a show and have a meal). Item numbers were 147437 and 147442. I have tried to order on wait list but it seems its not available for these two dresses. What i wanted to ask you was are these two likely to be in stock before the end of may or am i gonna be disappointed also Julia could you ask the buyers if they can up the stock levels so its not a manic scramble to the phones only to be disappointed? Many thanks here’s hoping Lucie xxx

    Hi Lucie
I’m so sorry you missed the dresses you wanted. None of the pieces that sold out will be back in stock before the end of May I’m afraid, but what you could do is check again in about 10 days time as sometimes people order by cheque and then don’t send the cheque in so the stock becomes available again on our computerised systm.
This range has become SO popular so quickly that I’m sure the orders will be much bigger going forwards and I think we have something ‘SPECIAL’ coming up in July ( but don’t say I told you! )
    Have a lovely birthday anyway

    Hi Julia,
I agree with Simon you do look amazing in that dress, but you look great all the of the time….. “Gone with the wind” is in my all time top 5 movies, give me the old classics any day!
Just wanted to say a special thank you to QVC and espcially you Julia!
Where to begin…. well lets just say 5 years i had debilitating back condition which effected every area of my life. At one point i was rushed into QMC here at Nottingham on a blue light, my family and friends were thinking the worse, but after all the medical checks i was diagnoised with a prolapsed disc casused by having a weak core and a lack of supporting muscle around my lower spine.
Well thanks to listening to you Julia and how you over came the muscle wasting disease of polo as a child and became a dancer and presenter and leading a full and active life, through pilates i was inspired.
Well five years on and i have just celebrated my 40th birthday, i have reached a high standard of fitness, and this year i will be competing as Fitness Model at the Natural Bodybuilding championships at Lemiington Spa this summer, that’s not to say it has been easy, nothing is for free! i underwent one year of exstensive physical theropy followed by weekly sessions at the Rushcliff leisure centre with the “nottingham back team”, to get my over all phsysical condition improved, and then on with the qvc home studio and back into the weights in the gym, all the time using pilates home studio to keep everything strong.
I have come long way from the dark days of endless back pain and was the QVC pilates system that put me on the right road to where i am today, and not forgetting you Juliax my inspiration! you changed my life hope my story can help others.
    Speak soon, Steve, Nottingham.

    Hello Steve
Small world isn’t it? The Rushcliffe was where my brother and sister went to school, and I grew up on Musters Road opposite the Jesse Gray school – I expect you know it?
Congratulations on what you have achieved with regard to your fitness – you are the one that is inspirational to overcome something so debilitating – I am just so happy I was able to help through sharing my story.
If you are watching any of the Pilates shows on Saturday please do call in, it would be a pleasure to speak to you.
Good Luck in your competition at Leamington Spa and belated Happy 40th!!!
    much love

    Hi Wendy
I am just about to ‘reveal all’ in this weeks blog. There was no magic wand just being careful with my calorie intake (Diet Chef really helped) and getting back into exercise. I feel so much better about myself and it’s gratifying that so many of you have noticed.
Have you tried Pilates? – it is maybe something you could manage even with your hip problem – perhaps you could check with your doctor?
    Thankyou for your lovely compliment

    Good morning
Hahaha, you really do LOVE that movie dont you. Im sure you could have written an entire essay about it, but just amnaged to stop yourself. Its Breakfast at Tiffanys for me, it just gets me everytime. I actually think I am Holly!! I even called my cat Holly in her honour. Audrey hepburn was just so beautiful and always seemed very humble when not playing some glamorous role.
You have a lot of her qualities Julia, it even comes across on screen. You can be exceptionally glam, but so down to earth.
I didnt realise you had polio as a child. My mum had it when she was 11, and is such an inspiration to us “kids”.
They told my Gran that she wouldnt last the night when she was born. She had a serious heart defect. She proved them wrong at every turn, by getting to school, living through her teens, getting married, and having a family. She has us 3 and 4 grandchildren and now a gorgeous great granddaughter. At 73 you wouldnt believe the illnesses she has had. She actually has the most amazing skin, even more so since I bought her first Liz Earle products 8 years ago!!!
I may have to go and have a browse at Butler & Wilson, just to see if I will be tempted!!!! AFTER I watch Northern Nights. I NEED more!!!!
    Love Una xx

    Hi Julia,
Yes it is a small world, i live very close to there, i could see from your school report you were a Nottingham girl! So were you forest or county? or have you always been a palace fan!.
I would really like the opportunity to maybe take part in one of your pilates shows as a fitness model in the back ground in the future, and just to say a few words on how i have a achieved my journey, this would undoubtedly be a great achievement for me. if you or your producer would concider this it would great.
I see your pilates show is on tomorrow at 4pm unfortunately i will be watching my team Derby county vs some time called crystal palace!! saying nothing. but i wii record the show and watch it later, again it would really kind of you to concider me, i think i would be great for the viewers to see the results of pilates home studio, where it all began for me.
Have great show, enjoy the weekend, speak soon, Steve X

    Hello Una
Thankyou for the compliment re Audrey Hepburn – she was very enigmatic!
Your mum sounds like a real fighter – my motto is ‘that which does not kill you makes you stronger’ and it sounds like your mum has a similar philosophy!!
Hope you enjoyed your Northern Nights show

    Hello Steve
Well firstly ‘honours even’ so we are still speaking!!!! I was never a footie fan at all when I was growing up in West Bridgford – the football traffic was just an annoyance on a Saturday afternoon when I was trying to get back to ‘bread and lard island’ after my dancing class!!
I ended up doing all the Pilates shows on Saturday, as the ‘guest’, as Marjolein was unable to get here from the States cos of the ASH! I think it’s a great idea to have you as a guest model and will suggest it to relevant people. If you write to me with your contact details via snail mail I can pass them on if they want to proceed. I quoted you several times on Saturday – hope that was OK?
    Julia x
