Holidays, dangerous sports and dancing success!

Jilly and her family in Gran CanariaWell, as I write I'm still waiting for the 'Indian' summer that we have been promised. Hopefully by the time you get to read this it will be 85 degrees! you never know we live in hope.

Actually I shouldn't complain as we had our little fix of sunshine this year in Gran Canaria, which was beautiful. Originally we were going to Tunisia, somewhere that I have always fancied, but after the unrest earlier in the year we switched to Melonares in Gran Canaria.

We stayed at an amazing African-themed resort hotel, almost like one of the themed hotels you would find in Las Vegas and the weather was wonderful.

Since we have got back it's been all systems go with my son starting secondary school. And I thought I was busy before! This is a whole different ball game, talking of which he is now playing rugby, and before you start thinking I'm totally paranoid, this is the boy who managed to break his arm in his own bedroom!

I have bought the biggest, toughest gum shield I can find and I'm seriously hoping the novelty wears off fast or my nerves will be in tatters. Our great success story of the summer was my little girl Cassidy winning the All England dance festival with her dancing school. They came first in the under-9 tap section and the finals were held in a West End theatre in London. It is such an acheivement as Cassidy is still only 7.

The competition runs over two years with heats and semi-finals all over the country so it has been a long process but they are now officially the best tappers in the country! When I was little, I only ever got to the All England finals once and that was as the back end of a Donkey! (No jokes please).

Have a lovely 'Indian' summer, chat soon.

    Hi Jilly
What a fab picture of you and your lovely family.Glad you enjoyed your holiday and stayed away from Tunisia.I went with my hubby 6 years ago to Egypt, had a fantastic time there and on our 13th night of our holidays a suicide bomber blew half our hotel up! Thank goodness we survived, but some other lovely people we met there weren’t so fortunate. It makes me so sad that humans can do that to others!
Anyway Jilly I think we will have to resort back to your original name your co-hosts used to call you “Jilly Holiday” if I remember right before you had your kids. I can’t believe Taylor is starting secondary school already(where do the years go)? and well done to Cassidy.
    Take Care Jilly x
