Here comes summer (well, spring anyway)

Hi all,

So – everyone seen a little sunshine by now? About time, eh? Just before the good weather got here I went to Ireland for a weekend catch-up with my mum and three sisters. We went to stay in a hotel in Bray in County Wicklow – it’s a seaside town not too far south of Dublin, where my sisters all live. The weather was shocking – absolutely freezing – but other than that we had a wonderful time for two days, wandering around the shops, walking along the blustery seafront, visiting a farmers’ market at a nearby stately home and generally having a good old laugh.

With my sisters

I love this picture of me and my sisters, taken in one of our hotel rooms – yes it’s very blurry, but I like to think of it as “arty” – and it really captured a moment of love and laughter. As always when we all get together, we desperately miss sister number five – it will be eight years in May since we lost Deborah – but we also remember the great times, and make new memories.

I also had a lovely meet-up in London with my oldest friend Judith – we met when we were twelve, so we’re celebrating 40 years of friendship this year – how old does that make me feel? I was on an early shift at work so after I finished we headed to St James’s Park. Judith had very kindly made us a picnic, so we sat in the sunshine, eating yummy food, admiring the pelicans on the lake and putting the world to rights. I’ve realised I was head to toe in QVC fashion that day – an old maxi dress by Ronen Chen, Vionic trainers, my beloved Rino and Pelle leather jacket (out of stock but they have a great selection) and my new sunglasses from Pilgrim. You can take a girl out of QVC for an afternoon, but you can’t take QVC out of…etc!

Now that the sun is (hopefully) here we may be baring a little more flesh – I’m not a big one for tanning, preferring to use factor 50+ Ultrasun and to fake it if I want a little colour. I’ve just discovered an amazing Vita Liberata product I wanted to share with you.

I’ve loved their Body Blur instant tan for ages but now I’ve got the Body Blur Sunless Glow, which is a combination of an instant tan/body make-up with a gradual self-tan. You get an immediate lovely, light, natural colour which really makes the skin look smoother and more even in tone, but then when you wash it off you’re left with a lovely golden tan. That’s two for the price of one in my book. We currently have the supersize and it’s available in four interest-free instalments so a great time to try it. You can see from the photo of my arms (Sunless Glow on the top one) how natural it looks. Recommended!

Stay gorgeous!

Love Jackie x

It was really lovely Josephine. Such a shame we all live so far apart and can’t do it more often!

Would loved to have seen you all in Ireland Jackie. That would have been a hoot. Bray is lovely, was there years ago. I am living in the midlands in Ireland and yes the weather has been wet and cold. Great photo of you and your sisters and the best photos are the ones taken in the moment.
