I hope everyone had a wonderful festive period… and if you hate/ don't celebrate Christmas, I hope it wasn't too painful. I absolutely love it and had a brilliant time.
There were nine of us in our house, with members of both mine and my husband's families getting together – my mum, hubby's dad, my sister, hubby's sister, her partner and my two nieces!
There were so many hilarious moments, the first of which came at our Christmas Day lunch when we put on the 'festive masks' that came with our crackers. Off, they looked quite fun with turkey, clown and snowman masks all included.
But when we put them on….OH MY GOODNESS! (as you can see above!) We looked like something out of 'Silence of the Lambs' – it was positively scary!
Then there was the game of charades in which my husband kept frantically tapping his nose, much to the bemusement of all of us. After we miserably failed to guess his charade, we asked him what on earth all the nose-tapping had been about. His reply? He was trying to say "sounds like". SOUNDS LIKE?!
"Er, shouldn't that have been tapping your EAR?" we all yelled.
"Oh", he said…
Oh dear. And then there was my mother telling us about "fluff pops" and getting totally exasperated.
"Fluff pops", she insisted.
"Mum, we don't know what fluff pops are", we said.
"Of course you do", she said. "Fluff pops. You eat them at fairgrounds. FLUFF POPS."
"Mum, could you possibly mean candy floss?" we asked, as the light dawned.
"Oh", she said…
And so it went on. Much laughter, too much food, and a fabulous time had by all.
Now, a new year dawns. I'm very excited about this year, with a number of personal goals – that I'm keeping to myself for now, but I'll keep you posted as I (hopefully!) achieve them. But there is one thing I've resolved to do in 2014 and that is to try as many new things as possible! I've already started by trying to introduce more colour to my wardrobe (I have far too much black/grey/brown!) and by taking up hula hooping, thanks to the gift of a hoop from a friend at Christmas (it's supposed to be great for toning the tummy!).
It's also the year I'll be celebrating my 20th wedding anniversary. I can't quite believe it!
I would love to hear your plans for the coming year… maybe we can inspire each other! You can always get in touch by leaving a comment on this blog (see below) or by chatting to me on Twitter (@jackiekabler).
Have a great week!
Love Jackie x
