Cor this weather is bracing at the moment isn’t it? For those of you who are with me on Twitter @PipaLive, you’ll know I took up horse riding last year – I think I mentioned it on a blog a while back. I grew up around horses as we lived next door to a Lippizaner (Venetian white horses that dance) stud farm which I spent ALL my spare time helping out on, however I never learned to ride properly.
When I was 11, I broke my arm really badly in the middle of nowhere in Scotland whilst out on a pony jumping in a field and rather lost my confidence. Since then, it’s always been something I’ve wanted to do properly as an adult and I finally took to the saddle again a year or so ago.
I’m now working toward doing some British Horse Society exams which is challenging but exciting… particularly so in this weather!! I spent the day jumping last week and even the horse was turning his bottom into the wind and rain – we were drenched afterwards but I loved it!!
What’s absolutely fabulous is that my 11 year old son Myles has also taken to it like a duck to water so we regularly ride together. He’s not until now found anything other than the obligatory Lego and Marvel that he’s passionate about, so it’s wonderful that we can share a love of life in wellies. (I was very excited only this morning to receive my new ones in the post!)
Completing the look (see photo at top), did I mention that Santa gave me the Stetson I wanted?? Exciting times! I love hats, particularly on a not so good hair day. I popped to the post office yesterday and had a great conversation with someone purely because of the hat! It’s a bit like Kipling bags – I hear they spark random conversation with people everywhere too.
OK, hair update. I know it’s growing like a weed – the question is, what to do with it? (No I’m not going to cut it off again). So I went to the John Frieda salon last week to see Kevin (Color Wow) for a cut, coffee and chat!
He’s just brilliant… even did a little jig on the spot until he got inspiration, he really made me chuckle. I think he was a little worried about taking too much off the front of my hair but we both agreed it was looking a bit lank!
Finally, one of the many joys of parenting… homework! Don’t ask me why, I suppose it’s somehow bringing myth to life, we had to create a Medusa cake! What do you think?? We had loads of fun making it. I used my seven minute microwave cake recipe – it’s saved our bacon on a number of occasions!
Right then, time to strip the beds! I hope you are well, fingers crossed spring will arrive very soon!!
