Pompoos designer Harald Glöckler talks fashion…

Harald Glöckler What inspired your new fashion collection?
The inspiration for my fashion line is my Haute Couture Collection. I transform those glamorous designs into a daily wear collection, where the cut is very feminine and the fabrics often have a wonderful shiny touch – women look great when they wear it.

We hear you're on TV soon – tell us more!
Yes, you can see me in the UK on Living TV on the 13th of December – the programme is called The Prince of Fashion. The documentary is about me and my work, and they followed me around for a week and filmed all of my activities during this time.

We had a glamorous Haute Couture show during that week in London, at the "Cafe de Paris" and you can see this show in the documentary too. For the future we have planned more, you'll just have to wait and see…

What's your design process?
My design process always starts with the inspiration and the idea of a collection theme. I think about the shapes and cuts and make some scribbles and sketches. Then I work out the outfits with my team. We look for the right fabrics and trimmings and create the cut. Sometimes I also get inspired when I see wonderful fabric, then I create a matching outfit for this fabric.

After the creative work we have to work very closely with the production team. My designs are very special and not always easy to produce, so every step in the production process must be controlled again so that, at the end,  the women get this wonderful garment. It is a long process until you can see the clothes in the show.
Do you have a favourite piece from your range?
I like the lace outfit we will be selling in the next show. Lace is very popular at the moment and every woman can create a sexy look with this shift skirt and top. But this outfit is also changeable. You can wear the lace shirt with jeans or the skirt with a simple black shirt and a jacket – and you look always elegant with it.

I love it when women emphasise their femininity. In my opinion, every woman is a princess. I always tell my clients, that every woman, no matter what size she is, can look great and attractive when she wears the right clothes. Be proud of yourself, live and love your life and show it!

What, in your opinion is every woman's 'must-have' piece?
A perfect outfit which every woman needs in her wardrobe is a pair of elegant black trousers and a black jacket with a good cut like we have in our collection. This fits every situation and always gives a good shape. A 'must-have' for every woman should be that special piece in her wardrobe in which she feels most comfortable -when this is a dress, that's also nice…
What's next for you?
A lot! I start on 2nd January at QVC Germany with a big show. From this day on, I am on air several times a month. Then, a lot of German and international TV channels have booked me for interviews, talk shows and documentaries

A big German TV channel brings out a documentary of my life in January. This is inspired by my biography which I launched in October in Germany. It was a big success and I get a lot of letters from exalted readers .
A huge US company is also interested in bringing me into the US market, but this is still confidential…

Harald – where have you been? Thrilled you’re back on QVC and will be glued to the TV on Thursday. Also popping to Mum’s on Monday night to watch you on Living TV, as I’ve only got Freeview and can’t see that channel at home. Good luck with all your upcoming ventures, although I’m sure you won’t need it, as your talent and personality will shine through. Lots of love xx

    Dear Harald,
Your designs are fantastic. The fabrics are luxurious. Fit is perfect and above all they are all glamorous and gorgeous. I want to replace my whole wardrobe with your clothes !!
I love watching you on QVC. Your lovely personality reflects the great designs that you produce.
I know you only came last week, but having to wait for nearly 2 months to see you and some more of your designs again is a real torture. I may put in a formal complaint !!
    Sharmila xx
