Bouquet and bear

Happy Wednesday to you!

Well, I genuinely didn’t think it would be a whole month before I’d be back with you! Perhaps, taking into account my previous surgical history, I should have been a tad more wary, but suffice to say, I’m feeling 110% better than I was :)

Thank you so much for all your lovely comments, get well wishes and messages of support. They have really cheered me over the last few weeks especially when I was in bed for so much of that time! My day case turned into two separate three-day stays in hospital, but I have finally worked out how to tie a hospital gown – still not keen on the net knickers though! :)

The staff, as always, were incredibly kind and, to be fair, I slept through most of it! My problem were the graft sites on my legs, one of which required further surgery a week later. They made it difficult to walk and sit, and led me to twist my back while trying to do both!

Homemade pie

I was spoiled rotten by Colin, my family and friends, who cooked for me, brought me flowers and treats, washed my hair, and drove me to and from hospital and to the physio. The exotic bouquet and teddy at the top of the post came from Lucy, and Sam made the chicken, bacon and leek pie above from scratch – including the pastry (in my KitchenAid). It tasted delicious too! Jack sorted out my Bose system so I could listen through my computer and also added my Bose SoundLink to the little TV Colin had set up in the bedroom, so even the news sounded exciting! :)

Hopefully this will be my last operation and my surgeon really did all he could to make things look as natural as possible. We always knew that the radiotherapy I’d had could well compromise the eventual result even after skin grafts, but I wanted to give it a try … I’ll leave it now … I think it’s time to call it a day and accept that what will be will be. I’m going to crack on with all I have to look forward to next year – it’s going to be a great one! :)

But of course we’ve still got seven weeks of this year left and so tomorrow, Thursday 20th November, I’ll be back with you at 7pm for an hour with Kelly Hoppen and her fabulous TSV (above), followed by my Diamonique Show at 8pm.

Diamonique simulated morganite ring - 609955

I have to admit to having bought more than a few things online from QVC while I was away, but think this beautiful simulated morganite ring (above) will definitely go on my wish list! In fact, talking of rings, Ali Young’s gold-plated anniversary ring (below) will be in the hour too, which is amazing considering it sold out last month and is now on 3 Easy Payments. Sooo, if you missed it last time, join me at 8pm!

Ali Y anni ring - 620749

It would be rude of me while talking about jewellery not to mention Julien Macdonald who is premiering his brand new jewellery range with me on Sunday. I remember watching him on Strictly last year and completely fell in love with his range of dresses from this year’s Spring/Summer 2015 collection – seriously stunning!

He, of course, styles many famous names including Cheryl Fernandez Versini (Cheryl Cole as was) and Dame Shirley Bassey – who you may have seen singing this last Sunday at the Blackpool Ballroom on Strictly Come Dancing.

I am addicted to the show and would give my eye teeth to do a twirl on that famous dance floor with Kevin … but enough of my day dreaming, and back to the glamour, extravagance, and show-stopping jewellery designs from Julien, which we’re so thrilled to be bringing to you. In fact, here are a few examples for you to salivate over! :)

Not only have I been missing all of you and my lovely colleagues at QVC, but was terribly disappointed to have been absent when Donny Osmond popped into QVC for a chat with the lovely/lucky Jackie Kabler! He was my first true love when I was just 13 years old, so maybe it’s best I was watching from a distance rather than being in close proximity and hyperventilating! :)

Who did you pledge your heart to all those years ago? Let me know so we can compare notes! ❤️

Finally a wee favour to ask you. Whilst I have been recumbent on many a bed, sofa and beanbag, my man Colin has been putting together a brilliant Christmas song with a very talented band called Sid Sideboard and The Chairs. It’s called ‘Santa Left Me’ and is being released today – complete with video! So if you fancy supporting him and listening to something that’ll really get you into the Christmas spirit, then join the rest of us who are loving it by watching the video below.

Make sure you watch it through to the end … Monty’s not the only personable penguin on the planet, trust me! Let me know what you think.

Can’t wait to get dressed up, make-up on and be with you on Thursday and I will look forward to hearing all your news, who your first love was and what you think of ‘Santa Left Me’ :)

With my love,
Ali x

As for the video it is pure entertainment, I love it but I didn’t realise penguins could be that vicious!! Finally on the subject of nickers. Don’t know about the net ones but the blue paper ones (with openings) that you get for camera jobs are something to behold lol xx

My Dear Ali, so glad to hear you are now on the mend and are able to grace our screens tonight. As you say no more surgery now, and you have a wonderful year to look forward to, it sounds like you have most of your wedding plans organised so onwards and upwards for you now Ali. I am now on antibiotics for an inner ear infection and tonsillitis this cold has been going on for 4 weeks I am so tired as the cough is keeping me awake at night, but it is nothing compared to what you have been going through. I am hoping to see my little family this weekend as I haven’t see them for the last couple of weeks, am missing my hugs from Alfie.
I might not have a job after Christmas due to redundancies so I need to start looking for another one, trouble is I like were I work now and there isn’t much out there when you live out in the sticks!!! But the best news is my little family are coming to stay for Christmas Eve And Christmas Day going back on boxing day, that has made me sooo happy. Donny Osmond was the one for me when I was twelve with pictures of him on my wall. I saw him and Marie in concert a couple of years ago they are both brilliant, would definitely go and see him again.
Jilly enjoy your trip to the Lake District and say hello from me. Hope all is good with Annie and her husband. Alpha thinking of you and am glad Ali’s army gives you some comfort.
Take good care Ali,and I will ‘see’ you tonight love Janet xx

I had major surgery 7 weeks ago not for breast cancer but I know how hard it is to keep a brave face on for the ones you love most and I have had great support from my wonderful husband Michael and my 2 boys. Well Done Alison I only have to think of you and it makes my day better loves and hugs Christine xx

    Hi Ali
Great video and song and very catchy. Wouldn’t it be lovely if Christmas was just like that. Lots of snow and warm and cosy inside your home. so pleased you are feeling much better and look forward to seeing you back on our screens. You have been missed. Life is slowly getting back to some sort of regular routine again but still find Sunday’s are difficult. I used to chat each week for an hour with my sister and still find it hard not to pick up the phone to ring her. However, I can now look at photos of her without feeling as sad. Paperwork at this time for anyone is difficult but hopefully everything will be completed by the early new year. I have decided to get away for some winter sunshine after this and hope that by then I will feel more like enjoying it.
Loved the pie by the way, I almost reached through the screen to get a slice!!! Don’t over do things, listen to your body and take each day as it happens. Sending big hugs and lots of love.
    Judith xx

Hello Ali, I was pleased to see you looking wonderful and sounding so positive on your return show last night. You and yours must be relieved that the last few weeks are over and that you can all look forwards, especially to next Summer. I read your reply to Alpa about me writing again and I am aware of how lucky I am that, at present, life is good. I am also conscious that things can alter in a second so always try to follow my grandmother’s advice to enjoy “The magic of ordinary days”. The biggest thing that has happened to us is that we became grandparents on 5th December when Tallulah Scarlett was born. She was four weeks early which was a bit of a shock, not least for Bex, who was still at work and planning to be in London that day… She is a bundle of love and a total joy with a sunny disposition and a super smile that she bestows on everyone and everything. I love the build-up to Christmas and her early arrival meant that I was able to do a grandchildrens’ Christmas tree. I found a beautiful one in a pot complete with lights at the Christmas Fayre in Much Wenlock two days after she was born and even managed to get a pink ‘Baby’s First Christmas’ ornament. Everyone else is fine; Colin is still climbing mountains and running through vast quantities of mud – sometimes at the same time – and Bex, Ellie and their boys are well. We got a new kitten last November, he was rescued after an attempt to drown him failed and the foster family called him Sox because his white feet make him look as though he’s wearing ankle socks. We love him to bits and his energy has given Bertie, our old boy, a spring in his step, usually to get out the way. I have wittered on far too long but will end by adding a note to Alpa. I have read about your struggles with your condition and the intransigence of those you have to deal with with sadness. Have you contacted a health ombudsman about your case? As for the others who make things difficult, think of my grandmother’s words and if you don’t get any magic from them don’t allow them into your life, easy to say but once done the feeling of freedom is uplifting, I’ve done it and never looked back. Love Jo

Hello again, Totally forgot to say that I loved the video and the song, took me back to the Christmases when there were always colourful and fun songs, only this was naughtier! My first true love was David Cassidy, I can still remember the moment I saw him on The Partridge Family and I ended up with thousands of photos, records, books, magazines and posters. My bedroom was a David museum and gallery and I spent all my free time with a tiny radio attached my ear waiting for Radio 1 to play him, it drove my parents mad. All I can say now is that the years and lifestyle have not been kind so I remember him as he was in the early 70s and I was besotted. Love again, Jo x

Hi ali. So glad you are feeling better. I had to have skin grafts following the removal of a tumour which was benign from my foot. I remember that the site the graft was taken from was very painful and took longer to heal than the actual operation site. So I can really sympathise. You were well looked after by your family and friends. Watched the video loved it and love the name of the band. We went to see Jackson Browne in Birmingham on Monday. Fabulous evening and I had time to wander round the christmas market with a cup of mulled wine before the show so felt very Christmassy . I hope you continue to improve day by day. Love Elaine x

Hi there Loraine, good to hear from you and so chuffed that you listened to and enjoyed Colin’s Christmas song – that’s me singing in the chorus at the very end! :) Colin put the track down months ago and then just layered it together – so clever. Great that you too were a Donny Osmond fan – my entire wardrobe was covered in photos of him altho I didn’t get to see him perform until I was 40! I hope you’ve found a few more things for your Xmas list, and of you have girls to buy for join me on Sunday for Laura Geller’s brilliant collection of colours. Have a great weekend, love Ali x

Janet I am so sorry to read that you are still struggling with tonsillitis, ear infections and this awful cough. It all sounds terrible! I can totally empathise with the lack of sleep – if it’s not the hot flushes, it was trying to sleep with a pillow under my knees! It makes it worse for you when you can’t see little Alfie though, so I’m very glad they will be with you this weekend, and for Christmas too- what a bonus! I think you and I are exactly the same age when our crushes on Donny Osmond began altho mine was a bit of an obsession that lasted several years! My Colin actually took me to see Donny in Brighton some years back and he thought he was a great entertainer too. I do hope you keep your job, but if not, that you will be able to find another one that you enjoy as much. Hope you enjoyed yesterday’s shows, and I will look forward to ‘seeing’ you on Sunday afternoon. Please get better soon! Sending you a gentle hug, love Ali x

We are lucky I know :) Your kind words are much appreciated and I do hope you manage to watch some of the shows once I’m back over the weekend, love Ali x

As you say it’s trying to move on and change the pattern of your life that is so difficult, and the paperwork and legalities which are last thing you feel able to deal with right now,.. I am glad to know tho that the photos of her are perhaps more of a comfort now which is good. I think to go away somewhere warm for a little while would be a very good idea. I always find the sunshine a great healer. It was lovely being back yesterday, but I have done very little today to rest up for Sunday. Do take care of yourself and try to enjoy your holiday. With love, Ali x

I love the fantastic Christmas song. A new Christmas song is well overdue, and this one fits the bill perfectly – I wish Colin and the band every success with it. What a naughty Father Christmas though Lol!!!! My heartthrob was David Essex. He had the most beautiful smile, and was absolutely gorgeous. I saw him perform here in Cardiff three times, and my friends and myself have fantastic memories of those exciting times. I used to imagine myself walking along a moonlit beach with him LOL LOL!!! Best wishes to you and all in Ali’s army. Alpa, I keep sending positive vibes to you and everyone else experiencing challenging times, but what an inspiration Ali is to all of us.

Hi Ali, I was absolutely smitten with John Taylor in my teens. He is Duran Duran’s bass guitarist and was my dream man! Paper knickers definitely NOT cool, we might have a think and design a glamorous range of hospitalwear. As one of the XFactor judges would say…there is definitely a gap in the market (and in the knickers at that!) for such items.
Alison you are an inspiration, a beautiful woman inside and out. I might be biased because you have always been my favourite but there you go..I had to put it in black and white.
Good luck to Colin for the brilliant songwriting. It definitely has a lot of promise, I am sure it will do well.

    Hi Ali,
So glad you are on the mend. You certainly have been through the mill again! I hope everything is on the up for you.
I could not miss your show today with Julien MacDonald coming from Wales myself could I? There were some stunning pieces, can’t wait until his next show.
I only remembered in time that my heart-throb Donny was on the morning show last Tuesday. He’s still got it, the voice and the looks! I eventually got to see him a few years back and have been lucky to see him 3 times and have also seen The Osmonds a couple of times to. It only took 35 years . Still better late than never. When I was a teenager it was’nt possible to get to London to the concerts. So when they came to Cardiff and later Swansea I jumped at the chance. I cried like a fool when the music started, it brought all the memories flooding back of my teenage years. I was lucky to see the Osmonds when they did their Once in a Lifetime Tour. All of the Osmonds were there including Marie. Now that the older brother’s health is not so good there would’nt be another chance again of seeing them. Oh to be that age again!!
Loved the video by the way, just the thing to get you in the Christmas mood.
Hope you are not overdoing things- take care,
    Tina S (S. Wales.)

Hi Linda…. haven’t mentioned before, but it’s Ros and I singing the chorus with Colin adding the bass bit! And I agree it is very catchy – especially when you’ve recorded it as many times as we did!! :) Love Ali xx

Linda I am hugely proud of Colin! To be able to put an entire track together, work with the band, sing and create snow – amazing! I’m a lucky lady :) And yes, I will be glad to see the back of this year, and am so looking forward to next – with Christmas right in the middle. Yay! Love to you too, Ali xx

Jo, so good to hear from you again, and CONGRATULATIONS!!! Gorgeous name Tallulah Scarlett, and this year she will so enjoy her birthday on the 5th and then Christmas itself! Babies are such a joy aren’t they? Especially when they have a sunny disposition, and I am sure she has brought much happiness to your entire family. And to have Sox as well – you’ll up to upsize! I hope you won’t mind but I have taken your grandmother’s saying and copied it into my notes… Enjoy the magic of ordinary days… it may well be engraved on one of my gifts for Lucy this Christmas :) I am glad that you have been empowered by these words, and I hope very much that life continues to bring you joy, love Ali xxxx Thanks for keeping in touch

….Oh and thanks also Jo for your marvellous description of your ‘crush’ on David Cassidy that began with The Partridge Family… Your room sounded like mine, and I had one of those little radios that had a huge circular dial on the front so you could find the station.. I loved FAB 208! Thanks for sharing :) A xx

Elaine, Colin was really envious when I told him that you’d been to see Jackson Brown – glad you enjoyed it. Even though I lived in the Midlands for all those years, I didn’t ever make it to the Christmas market which was a shame. You’re right about the graft site being painful.. of course I have no feeling across my chest so that bit was a doodle!! :) Glad you enjoyed the video and yes, it’s a great band name isn’t it. Take care, and enjoy the build up to Christmas, love Ali xx

Hello there Julie, and thank you for writing to me… your kind words are much appreciated.. it was a bit of a roller coaster, but I’m feeling much better these days. Jason Donovan – yes, I can entirely understand that! I loved him on Strictly Come Dancing a few years back. Glad you liked the video and thanks for watching, love Ali xx

Hello there Sue, lovely to hear from you, and to be honest, I didn’t feel all that brave! But it’s done now and behind me, and as you say I have so much to look forward to next year. In total agreement with you about Santa Left Me (altho I may be biased) About time we had a new Christmas song and it is funny :) Wow! David Essex! I fell in love with him in ‘That’ll be the Day’….! I didn’t see him live until about five years ago with Deb Greenwood. He still had that twinkle and as you say, the most gorgeous smile..oh and of course a great voice :) Sending you my love and thanks for always including the rest of the Army too – you all make my day that bit better, love Ali xx

Anna you’ve had me laughing out loud with your ‘gap in the market’ for paper knickers – I will collate suggestions for an alternative and contact our buying team immediately! :) Just googled John Taylor, and yes, I completely get it! Preferred him blonde to brunette though… – great jawline. And as for your sweet words about me, I feel very humbled..and delighted to be a favourite! Thanks also for your support for Colin’s song – it’s done so well thanks to all those of you who watched the video that it’s now on the ITunes download list! I’ll pass on the compliment. So glad that Colin’s video made you smile Jennifer – it does me every time I see it, and you should have heard the tales about what when on during filming – sounds hysterical. Jo came to look after me that day, and he made us laugh out loud recounting the temperamental snow machines :) It’s great to be feeling better – I hate feeling poorly and being inactive… worried me that bed became my best friend! But party season ahead, and some great shows at QVC so all good, love Ali xx

My dear Tina thanks so much for joining in with all those who’ve been kind enough to write about their teenage crushes.. Your story could have been mine.. First time I saw Donny when a dear friend I’d been at school with got tickets for me and Ros to go with her and her sister for our joint 40th birthdays! I, like you, just burst into tears when everyone else stood up to applaud… I was 13 again, and it was the weirdest feeling.. I did see the Osmond Brothers a few years after that but have never seen Marie although she used to be range of dolls for QVC! So glad you were able to be with me and Julien yesterday. Wasn’t he delightful and the jewellery faboollus!!! I am completely besotted with his couture range of fashion and now right at the top of my bucket list along with dancing on Strictly is being able to wear – just for a wee while – one of his UNBELIEVABLE couture dresses! Check out SS15 Julien Macdonald – they’re the stuff my dreams are made of :) Glad you enjoyed the Christmas video – thanks to all the support it’s made it into the ITunes chart! Exciting! You take care, love Ali xx

And for the same reasons as you! Hate battling through the crowds and still walking a little oddly and slowly (my dear Producer Pete on Sunday made sure I had the special stools with cushions on, love him :) Thanks for your kind words about Colin’s video… two live gigs lined up now! Exciting times! Keep in touch, and I’ll be with you with Diamonique gift ideas at 2pm today. Love Ali xx

A very good Tuesday evening Alison and welcome back. I caught you on screen last week and you’re looking fabulous. I know its been a very traumatic time but now you can look forward to planning a wonderful wedding and enjoying every moment of it. I must say the pie looks worthy of centre stage in any cookery book and if it tasted half as good as it looks then I bet it was scrummy!
My tablet won’t let me watch Colin’s video but I managed to watch it on my phone. A great video and catchy little tune, number 1 spot maybe?
So its 4 weeks to Xmas and my annual shopping trip to Milton Keynes happened at the weekend. I packed in rather a hurry as I was on a course the day we were travelling and wanted to leave by 4pm to avoid too much traffic at the Dartford Crossing. Even though we left at 4 we hit traffic but, in my rush to pack, I left my slightly more sensible wedge boots at home and had to wear the higher wedge boats I’d worn during the day..let’s just say that although I managed admirably and several pairs of party feet inserts down the line my feet were begging for mercy by Sunday! We managed to grab some great bargains and I had a tomato shaped like Barbapapa in my salad…do you remember him..he was pink and fluffy I think, at least the one that sat on the end of my bed was and i think he changed shape!! All my shopping is done except for two Take That CDs..I love Gary!!! They are on order as they are not released until Dec 1st. My house is now gearing up for festive mode, boxes everywhere from the loft and despite a bonkers busy week and weekend my decs, trees and outside lights will be up for 1st Dec. My daughter is on Xmas countdown and gets terribly excited even though she is almost 15.. no doubt she will be up at her usual 5am Xmas morning and as it will be a very long day I would have already drunk half a pint of Baileys by 6am!!!
Before I end my teenage crush was the gorgeous Donny followed by the delicious David Cassidy. Well bed time for me and thanks for a great blog. I’m so glad you are feeling solo much better. Love Mary

Hi Ali. So pleased to see you back on our screens. You were greatly missed. I’m quite a bit older than you, love Donny Osmond but from about the age of 10 my heart has belonged to Sir Cliff Richard. See him as often as I can! Anyway Ali so good to see you back and may you have good health from now on. Love Sue xx

I hope you don’t mind me writing to you, but I saw you on the Breast Cancer Care day on QVC, I realise it was some time ago, I didn’t know I could contact you on this site ?, but I have been so worried about you, as you mentioned they had found some more lumps, my daughter had breast cancer, touch wood, so far she is now five years clear, but a very painful and bumpy road bless her, she has two little girls, and it’s always at the back of her mind. I was so pleased to see you back on QVC, I hope everything is now ok.

    Hi there Ali!

So sorry you’ve been through it again. Nothing is ever easy with you is it? Glad you are now on the mend and here’s to next year bringing nothing but health and happiness to you and no more paper knickers!! Goodness knows you deserve it!

Loved Colin’s video. He is such a talent isn’t he?

Sorry I’ve not been on here much but have been having a bit of a struggle (nothing like yours mind you!) I started to lose my hair a few months ago so went to see a really nice doctor who sent me for some blood tests. He couldn’t believe that I’d got to be the age I am and had never had a blood test! I assured him that this was the case and he checked back through all my notes just to be sure and had to concede I was right! He therefore sent me for every blood test he could think of! They took 2 armfuls of blood and the upshot was that my body was low in ferritin which, in layman’s terms meant that I had low levels of iron which can cause hair loss. So I’m currently on a 3 month course of Iron tablets as, apparently, my hair has to go through another growth cycle before they can tell if this will work and a growth cycle is about 3 months. I have been taking them for about 6 weeks now and can see no improvement in my hair loss at all. Am trying to be patient but it’s a bit distressing every time I wash my hair to see so much coming out. Fingers crossed that the tablets will start to work soon. I hate the thought that my hair won’t grow back and am trying not to dwell on that fact too much.

Ainzley is still going strong despite what the vet has told us! I think he’s going for the thickest heart chamber wall the vet has ever seen instead of the second thickest! He loves a challenge does my Ainzley!!

Alpa my lovely, I’m so sorry that things aren’t getting any easier for you. I do so hope that next year you will find someone who will listen to you and take your illness seriously. Keep on fighting and stay strong.

Love to all in Ali’s Army.

    Dear Ali,

Welcome back! :) You have been very much missed. Glad you are feeling better than before and hope your health continues to improve. At least this part can be put behind you and there is so much to look forward to next year :) I can only echo dear Jilly’s words, ‘You are ultra fab on the inside and ultra fab on the outside’ So pleased to see that you were very well looked after. The pie that Sam made looks so delicious. Unfortunately, gluten, eggs and pork are just a few things I can no longer tolerate!

Congratulations to Colin on his Christmas song, which I have been playing. It would be rude not to play something so festive and catchy. It has made me look at penguins in a completely new light, though! Fab that you and Ros are singing in the chorus :)

No changes here and health wise, things are much worse which makes life more difficult. Patients with severe ME experience a level of disability equal to that of patients with late-stage AIDS and patients undergoing chemotherapy. The difference is it continues for decades. Yet, we’re just expected to put up with no medical treatment and constant abuse from doctors, family and friends, who refuse to believe us!

Jo, thank you for thinking of me. I haven’t contacted a health ombudsman about my case. Although it has some degree of independence, it is a government department. Government policy here dictates that ME, a neurological disease is not to be treated as a physical illness. The government do not tolerate any challenge to this. Doctors who do believe their patients have their hands tied, as there is very little they can do. Doctors who have tried to help patients, have either been disciplined or struck off. There are cases where patients have refused to have ‘treatment’ which consists of psychotherapy and graded exercise therapy and been sectioned and forced to have it. That treatment cost them their lives. Others like myself, were subjected to this treatment when we were meant to be excluded and never recovered. The scientific evidence is simply ignored. It’s been like this here for 30 years and nothing has changed.

It is good to hear your news. Congratulations on your beautiful granddaughter! :) What a fabulous name Tallulah Scarlett is. She sounds like a gorgeous baby. It made me smile to see Colin is still climbing mountains and running through vast quantities of mud. I love your grandmother’s saying.. ‘The magic of ordinary days’ and have adopted her words about those who make things difficult. One of the best things I did this year is to make a start on doing just that. So pleased that life is good for you at present :) x

Janet, sorry you are poorly. I can empathise with the tonsillitis (horrid) and the lack of sleep. No sleep leaves me zombified most days! I hope you are feeling better soon. I’m very glad you will have your little family to stay over Christmas. Fingers crossed you will keep your job and if not, that there is another job out there you will enjoy. Thank you for thinking of me x

Sue, thank you for the positive vibes. Captain Ali indeed remains an inspiration to us :) x

Debz, you have been very much missed. So sorry you have been struggling and had so much blood taken :( It’s horrible to lose so much hair when you wash it. My hair loss seems to be from the ME itself. If the iron tablets are not helping, have you tried Nelsons Spatone? It’s a natural iron supplement that’s available from Amazon. Glad to hear that dear Ainzley is still going strong. Bless you for thinking of me and your kindness and support. Lots of Love to you x

Jilly, hope you enjoyed your time in the Lakes and Yorkshire. Love to you and Annie x

    Take care, Ali

    Lots of Love, Alpa xxx

Hi there Mary, and thanks for bringing us all up to speed with your annual Christmas Shopping trip – shame about the boots tho! What a nightmare. I met Colin in town last Friday for a ‘date night’ and wore my heels, but we then proceeded to walk miles! Sadly I didn’t have any ‘party feet’ inserts in my boots, so haven’t taken my Emu’s off since! You did make me laugh with your BabaPapa description.. haven’t found anything quite that exciting in my salad yet! I hope you saw Take That on the X Factor the other night, and that your Gary Barlow CD’s have arrived today? I knew we were much the same age, as we had similar crushes, although in truth since I’ve been an adult (questionable!) outside of Colin, the only other men I have swooned over have been Richard Gere, and Jonathan Wilkes! Bit random I know, but hey :) Looking forward to three hours on Thursday including the regular Diamonique show at 9pm – hope to ‘see’ you then. Let me know what you think of my new hair colour – subtle but different. Love Ali xx

Dear Lynne, please never apologise for writing to me, especially as your reason was so thoughtful. I am fine, and the lumps turned out to be fibrous but benign tissue which was a relief. I am so sorry to hear that your daughter has also struggled with breast cancer, and hope that for her the path remains clear – although I completely empathise when you say that it is always at the back of her mind – mine too.. But that said, I am looking forward to a New Year with no more surgery which will be a blessing. Thank you for writing to me, and love and best wishes to you and your daughter. Ali xx

Dear Debz, always lovely to hear from you, and for your kind words and compliments re Colin’s music. It’s doing pretty well, so as Mary said, we’re fingers crossed it might actually make the charts this Christmas! More importantly how are you?! I am so sorry to hear that you’ve been going through such a rough time… I completely sympathise, and understand totally how awful it is to lose your hair… mine was only a temporary loss, and I always believed it would come back. Try and hang on in there, and it may be worth your while trying our Hairfix Leave In Hair Follicle Treatment (204093)..I remember reading some heartfelt reviews from those who had struggled with hair loss and how it had worked for them. Good luck Debz, the Army are all here for you, and fingers crossed, this next six weeks will see that change and a definite improvement. Delighted to hear that Ainzley is still going strong, and give him a cuddle from me. Take care, and do keep in touch, love Ali xx

Dear Alpa, you are kind to think of everyone else, when clearly you are still struggling. I had hoped that perhaps there would have been a mild improvement, and it seems appalling that there is no form of medical support/treatment available. I have been so well supported and cared for like so many others, and yet as you say those who have tried to help have not been tolerated… Let us pray that 2015 will bring something positive to the table for you. I am glad though that Colin’s Christmas song brought a smile to your face.. They have a gig on the 21st December and that will be just one of the songs they play live, so it should be fun… I’ll be heading there straight from work for a mulled wine and a bit of dancing! Am hoping to be posting a new blog in the next day or so, and hopefully a competition before Christmas – watch this space! Love to you – and a hug – from me and the Army, Ali xxx

Hello Ali & all your followers..I left a message which was at the end of your previous blog so I thought I would do another one. First off welcome back and you really look fabulous. On top form again, none of us know how you do it!!. But I think you have a secret ingredient… Colin.. ,,.What fun the Xmas song is, I loved it and suffice to say it really cheered my day.. The singer looks like Trevor Eve !!. He’s a favourite for sure.. Was it him..!!.
I visited the Wythenshawe lung hospital on the 3rd Dec and saw professor Denning who is a really fun consultant despite that he made me feel in good hands. I had lots of blood tests etc. I also can reduce my oral steroids which I am pleased about as my face is resembling a full moon with the side effects. Also I am hyper active yet shattered. I feel miserable that I have not been able to look after my youngest daughter who after genetic counselling opted for a radical hysterectomy, tubes, ovaries removed 3weeks ago. This is following the family history of breast/ovarian cancer.
She is doing really well and is so sensible I think to go down this route. Her sister Jan (my eldest daughter) who was diagnosed with bilateral ovarian cancer last year has given her lots of support pre surgery..
Just to say I wish all of the boys and girls in touch with you so much love for a really special Christmas and to those under par for whatever reason a improving and full recovery in the new year.
Lots of love to one and all. Tricia xx
