Happy times and sunny days!

Hello all,
It's been a few weeks so I thought I'd give you a quick update. I went to Italy a couple of weeks ago to check out storm damage on my roof terrace. Nothing too major except all my furniture/plants etc. are totally wrecked. Don't you just love it when something like this happens abroad and they act like "… well this was inevitable"?

Except that they were the very ones suggesting how the roof could be furnished etc. in the first place and not a dicky bird mentioned about the whole "inevitable" thing. Anyway in those scenarios there, I just do what I always do… count to 1,670,042!!

Who needs to go away though with all the fab weather we've been having? (That is apart from the gorgeous Carla, our Tignanello guest who's just back from Florida.) She has a great TSV next Thursday by the way! I personally think it's quite unfair that someone that stunning should even be allowed a tan!!

Easter in the Dawson household

How was Easter for you all? I love it. All the family come to us and I am in my element decorating the house with flowers, bunnies (not real ones of course!) in fact the entire house is yellow for about a week or so. My argument is that even if it rains it's always nice and bright inside – needn't have worried this year though.

Our Easter egg hunt was rather amusing. I bought these little bunny signs that had an arrow saying "the bunny went this way". Problem was, they all pointed to the right! So it was a kind of a circular egg hunt this year!!!

Loving Zumba

Can't write too much at the moment as I'm running into QVC for a quick run through on Tuesday's TSV. For anyone out there who has not heard me rattling on about it… its ZUMBA!! Since my first attempt on 1st Feb, it's made a major change, not only on the scales (17lb) but the tape-measure too – six inches off my waist!!!

Unbelievable, it's all that twisting and shaking I reckon. Now just in case you're expecting to tune in and see me doing a flawless demonstration, no no no! We have our expert for that. My Zumba story is that even if you don't have all the moves down to perfection… it still works!!!

Talking of guests, you may have seen on previous blogs that I said our Zumba guest is from "Strictly"…well by now you must have heard that it's Matthew Cutler – he won Strictly Come Dancing partnering Alesha Dixon in 2007! Really can't wait, it's going to be great fun.
Thanks for staying in touch you lovely people. Promise to start posting some photos soon too. But that will only be when one of the kids is around to show me how to do it!! Can you believe I paid an office service business £3 yesterday for them to scan something for me? And yes I do have a scanner at home, just never used it yet!! Oh the joys of the technologically challenged!

Happy sunny times indeed folks!
Take care,

Anne xxx

    Hi Anne
Another lovely and chatty blog – thanks for sharingxx Such a shame about your patio furniture and plants – hopefully you’ll have it all sorted soon.I’m getting the garden ready for summer just now – we’re getting decking fitted with permanent lighting – i’m so looking forward to it being finished. The builders are still working away but hopefully things will be finished or at least near finished in a month(or two!!) You’ve conjured up an image of Italy, sun,a scrummy coffee and a lovely place to sit for me – i must check my diary to find out how many weeks until holiday time(we’re going over the pond to New York and i’m hoping to visit the lovely Laura Geller at her studio………and do a spot of shopping!!). Easter weekend was lovely and sunny in Glasgow – dont you think we are getting so into decorating our houses for all occasions(Easter,Halloween etc) and not just Christmas – as you said it cheers our houses up,which cant be a bad thing. Like you Easter is a family occasion in our house – lots of food, chocolate and suitable beverages(dependant on the age of the person!!)Now mentioning chocolate brings me nicely onto Sumba fitness – your looking good girl,17lb and six inches of your waist whow!! congratulations Anne – i’m really looking forward to your Zumba fitness TSV(and watching Matthew Cutler,he’s gorgeous, which always helps when undertaking excercise). I’m fighting a losing battle at the mo with keeping the weight off and doing regular exercise but the Zumba routine might get me kick started again.I was scared for a long time of using and understanding computers, generally technology waa daunting – but when i put my mind to it i found it wasn’t so frightening and using technology is second nature to me now, with the occasional “dont know what i’m doing” times and i just ask in pigeon English to get the answer. Of course “why have a dog and bark yourself” comes to mind – but i think that’s my lazy side coming out – you’ll me fine (and a lot richer!!from not needing to employ staff)when you get started. Lovely to speak to you again Anne – i’m watching the royal wedding at the mo – William and Harry look so handsome in their uniforms and i’m so looking forward to seeing Catherine’s dress. Until next time….Love Lindaxx

    Hi Anne,
Didn’t realise you were so prepared and had to have a run through of your Zumba TSV last week!! At least it wasn’t Friday and hopefully you got to see the Royal Wedding?! No idea who was presenting on QVC as was otherwise occupied! Great weather and great weekend. Glad your trip went well and here’s hoping the damage doesn’t amount to too much. Had to laugh at your comment abuot Carla and her tan…lol she is stunning but more than that she’s a lovely person AND stunning!
You’re looking fab Anne so keep doing what you’re doing!
    Look forward to the photos!

Your looking great and so happy and more confident, its lovely to watch – you enjoy it so much and i am not surprised its selling so fast – the easi-pays help too. Mind you Matthew and his business partner are quite easy on the eye eh – you lucky lady(hopefully Danny is safely tucked up in bed.)My David is on a business trip this week so i’m taking advantage and dancing in my lounge in the middle of the night – love itx I’ll let you know how i’m doing – if i get half of your results i’ll be a happy bunny.Anne i just had to fire up the laptop to tell you i have got the TSV,i’m looking forward to using it and your looking great – not only in your body shape but mentally tooXX Speak to you soon Love Lindax

    Hi Anne
Just realised you have started blogging again.
Lovely to hear all your news.
I noticed a few weeks ago you had been losing weight, but my word, thats a lot, in a short time. ZUMBA eh. My TSV was ordered just after midnight!
I just turned 50, and have been very lucky never to have had any weight issues. I was very active, could eat what I liked when I liked. In fact, my son is 23 and the last time i was on a set of scales, was the day I left the maternity with him! UNTIL, now, due to problems with my back, Im not so active, but still eat the same! Never dawned on me it might have an affect on me, DUH! Still dont know what I weigh, but I know from my clothes, that things are not where they used to be LOL!!
I spoke to my GP, and she actually suggested Zumba, maybe have to modify some of it, but Im sure I can manage. There is only one class near to where we stay, but it coincides with my physio appointments at the moment, so Im going to go it alone. Dont worry, i will be sensible.
I go on holiday at the end of August, and Im bloomin well NOT buying a one piece, if i dont get into my bikinis, Im not going!!!
Will let you now how it goes Anne.
My best wishes to you and your family
    Una x

I can believe how popular Zumba is. A work colleague of mine has lost loads of weight too and looks fab. Needless to say I’ve bought todays TSV. Isn’t it strange how women of a “certain age” are buying this product?? (and younger I admit) I just have to keep it up when I receive it. Being a new Grandmother I think I’ll have plenty of exercise. It has to be better than going to the gym!
Couldn’t believe how much weight you’d lost when I saw you on the repeat programme this morning.
We used to own a property in Spain and we too had to make trips over there to check things out when you get that phone call to say your property has had storm damage.
    Take care
    Julie xx

Anne had to blog again and say I sooo enjoyed your presentation and FUN on lasy night’s show!! You were amazing! I’ve seen some since and they are hilarious I have to say!! It does make me chuckle. That’s a good thin I think though! It’s good to have a laugh! Not the most flattering exercise as a beginner lol! You look fabulous and so glowing. You’re an inspiration with all your juggling of your duties to your brother and family AND looking so good!
    Well done you.
    Keep having your fun!

    Hi Anne,
Love reading your blogs, and I must say, you have inspired me to take up Zumba.I’m on the first lot of advanced orders, so I should not have too long to wait.I’m a 60 yr old who is really out of condition, who gets out of puff climbing the stairs so I’m hoping that starting off slowly and hopefully building up I will get a bit more energy. Anyway it will be fun trying

Thank you for giving me the motivation to try Zumba – you certainly are a great advertisement for it – you look FAB!!
I started Zumba classes two weeks ago as the menopause has left me with over a stone (mainly around my middle) that I simply cannot shift (and I already eat healthily) so this really is a Last Resort you might say. To say I’m hooked is an under-statement – I sometimes do TWO Zumba classes on the same night – and this from someone who loathes, detests and abhors exercise!!! I’ve ordered the TSV and am awaiting delivery with much eagerness because this will enable me to do even a quick Zumba class at home on evenings when I can’t attend a formal session, so I won’t miss out on the exercise.
May I ask how long did it take before you actually started seeing some weight loss?
You look revitalised and refreshed and good on you for tackling Zumba – thanks so much for bringing it to us.

    Hi Anne,
Lovely to see you are blogging again. Just wanted to say how fabulous you looked on the Zumba shows. I missed the TSV launch but was lucky enough to get my order in at lunchtime on that day so will receive my DVD’s at the end of May. I can’t wait as Zumba looks so much fun, and if it can help me look as good as you and Julia i’ll be really pleased :o) Take care and see you on QVC soon.

Very funky. The naturals you wear make up wise are just so flattering to you as well..you look the picture of health!

    HI Anne
Just to add my congratulations to the others – you look FANTASTIC not only slim but healthy and glowing – I think it also shows in your skin when your general fitness improves. I totally agree with you that the tape measure is often a much greater assessment of your fitness – after all muscle is heavier than fat, and the main aim is to get smaller – I can so identify with what you have achieved, and the great feeling you get from it, because I have been training at the gym over the last two years, and overall have lost 40cm including 10 cm from my waist. I am still enjoying it, and the gym also does Zumba classes which are so much fun. I have ordered the TSV on waitlist and am looking forward to receiving it. Wishing you continued success, and enjoy seeing you present on QVC. All the best from a fellow Scot. Morag xx

Oh Linda, you do make me smile! I bet you’re like me… you meet someone for a coffee and it lasts 4 hours and even then you have to cut it short as there was sooo much more to talk about! Thank you for your in-depth updates (a joy to read). Good luck with the building work. How’s Zumba going? You’re going to knock ’em dead girl in New York. You’re absolutely spot on regarding the mental aspect of exercise! It’s all those endorphins waking up and joining in I reckon!!

Hi Susan – Glad you enjoy the updates and appreciated my little take on Carla’s tan. Do you know what? I met her for lunch yesterday, and the tan may be fading slightly but the gorgeousness certainly isn’t. I say lunch, but it nearly ran into dinner as we left the restaurant gone 5 o’clock!
We didn’t even have a 3 course meal… 2 main courses and a couple of diet cokes!! (That’s one main course each, for anyone thinking maybe I’m falling back into bad habits!!) And guess what? I went to the ladies and didn’t do one of my incredible falling down stunts either!! Could have had something to do with the lack of stairs and also the fact that I refuse to meet up with her in anything other than trainers after the last fiasco!

Great to hear from you Una. I envy you my love; I haven’t worn a bikini since I was about 23!! Not true actually, I did in 2005 but judging by the photographic evidence, probably should have left well alone!! Hope your back is ok.

Hi Gina, first of all well done on the old stopping smoking game! Talking of early menopause, I too went through it sooner than expected at 42 (which I suppose is quite early). Do you know what though? This subject is a whole other blog!! Suffice to say that I think many of us could indeed write a book on it. One of my classic moments much to the horror of the rest of the Dawson household, was when I put the camembert in the dishwasher instead of the fridge! Didn’t know whether Danny was more upset about the smell or just the fact that his cheese had all gone. Ah… happy memories.

Hi Susanne, so know what you mean about menopausal weight being hard to shift around the middle. I remember when I told my mum that it had started, she said ” Oh don’t worry about it… it’s just like closing one door and opening another”. Do you think she was possibly talking about my dishwasher (see my comment to Gina!) 🙂 Please if possible keep me company with perhaps a little anecdote of a memorable moment during that change of life time. (Or is it just me who does crazy things like that?!) Well done doing 2 classes in one day! Only did that once. In answer to your question, I really started to notice a major difference after about a month of eating healthily and Zumba-ing faithfully about 5 times a week. Good luck!

Oh Susan, thank you for your lovely compliments. The purple dress is about a couple of years old now from Wallis I think. The reason you haven’t really seen it before is obvious… couldn’t get into it. Must have bought it with a very good imagination!! You probably know that my make-up is Bare Escentuals and eye-make-up tends to be mainly Bobbi Brown.

Anne many thanks for taking the time to reply. You asked about how Zumba was doing…….well the hot news is 2 inches off the waist and a 3lb weight drop(i’m delighted). I love Zumba it is so uplifting and the music is brilliant – i alternate between my Pilates inc Aeroboard and the Zumba dvds – now i just have to keep it up.I must confess(i mentioned this in a comment to Julia)that two Thorntons choccies had the cheek!! to fall into my mouth,i got such a fright that i ate them!! My excuse is that Thorntons choccies are high in cocoa solids – however they also have calories and fat/sugar in too(i conveniently decided to ignore that fact) but as Julia said two wont hurt in the long run.I’ve now “hidden” the box so i cant find them?(womans logic eh). I’m feeling really positive at the moment and i put some of that down to Zumba.Your right re the long lunches and not having enough time to fit everything in but i put that down to my sociable Scottish genes(although i’m sure that all nationalities have them tooXX). Lovely to speak to you again Anne,i hope your brother is well and i hope to see you on QVC soon(i missed you at the weekend did you have the cheek to take a holiday!!ha ha)Love LindaX

    Hi Anne,
Shame your dress is a couple of years old…I would have gone in to get it!! You really do look glam in so many of your outfits I must say. You and Ali K are the glammest of glam!! Really like your nails in the neutrals you’ve worn on air. Love them and the brights on you.
Must go and read the next blog now! Can’t wait! You’re a hoot!

    Hello Anne,
I am a bit behind the times here…but better late than never.
I have seen the informercial many times and it is hypnotising. It looks so much fun, but when I saw you on one of your hours a little while ago I couldn’t believe my eyes. You look fabulous lady. I have recently lost 3 stone, which inspired me to do the walk for life locally at Haydock Park. I so enjoyed it, I need more. Then came you, Zumba seems like just the answer. I have just ordered the set, which may I say, Is an unbelievable price, and on easy pay. It must be meant to be, I will keep you posted on my transformation.
    Thanks for the inspiration, Elaine
