Happy New Year!

Me, Dave and MandyI hope the festive season was a happy and peaceful time for you. It's always a very happy time at Chez Huntley and I'm always the biggest kid in the house. It's simply my favourite time of year and I hope I'll never grow out of my silly excitement. We ate well with the food I cooked from Green Seasons. It was utterly delicious!

Here in London a massive Christmas fair called Winter Wonderland takes place each year and I spent some very happy times there this Christmas time. It was so good I went twice! The first trip was with two of my very best friends, Mandy and Dave.

Personalised Christmas ornamentWe all act our shoe size rather than our age so we excitedly ran about going on rides, eating lots of naughty foods and partaking of the odd mulled wine or two. We went early and stayed all day. It was so much fun so I purchased an ornament to remember our happy day out, which I had personalised.

The second trip I made there was with a big group of my buddies from QVC including directors, camera operators, floor staff and so on – the ones you rarely get to see on your screens but without whom we presenters would be lost!

It was the rainiest evening I've known in a long time! We didn't let that hinder our fun. It was such a great night with lots of laughter and Christmas cheer. Look at their little faces, doesn't it make you feel all warm and cuddly inside?

The QVC gang at Winter WonderlandI was quite sad to take down the decorations but was left with many warm memories of Christmas 2012 to make me smile. So now we have a whole new year ahead of us…a blank page ready to etch with new memories.

I'm not one for brave New Year's resolutions as I always worry I can't stick to them but this year mine is simply to have 'dates' with each of my two children individually and all of us together at least once a month. Now, we do spend time together but I'm talking about taking the time to do something specific together rather than just the everyday.

Me and the QVC crew at Winter WonderlandTom and I spent an afternoon cooking together and it was wonderful. We chatted, we listened to music, we cooked, we ate. Wonderful start to the New Year's resolution so far!

Do you have any resolutions? Did you have a great Christmas and New Year? I'd love to hear from you. Stay warm & happy.

Much love,

Catherine x

Lovely to read your fun days out. And what a brilliant new year promise to have dates with your children! Think many families could benefit from that. Get the idea patented now! You very kindly sent me a thank you card after I sent you a 40th birthday card last year. I was so so touched as I imagine you were inundated with them,. I love to catch as many shows as I can that you do now as you invariably make me chuckle and yet have huge genuine honesty about you.also I have been with qvc as long as you have, as yours was one of my first shows and believe it was your first too. Look forward to the 10 year anniversary catherine! Lots of love Diane xx

Happy New Year Catherine. You’re my favourite QVC presenter – very sincere and genuine.
I love your new hair colour, very similar to mine but more intense and better! What colour are you using? It’s brilliant and you really suit it. Such a nice change too.
Any way I hope 2013 is successful for you and I hope to see much more of you on screen.
    Warm wishes

Hello there Catherine. Love the new hair colour. I just wanted to ask where you got your brown boots that you wore in Nina Leonards show on Wednesday 23rd of January? They are fantastic.

    Hi Diane,
Thanks for your lovely comments. I’m only sorry it takes me a long while to keep up with my blog. I blame twitter…it keeps me so busy! Not sure if you follow me on there but I’m @thehuntley if not.
How nice to know that our qvc journey began together! Amazing how fast a decade can fly! So much has changed in that time at qvc, too. New premises, presenters, bigger brands and celebs….it just keeps getting better.
So nice to know you love it as much as I do and I really appreciate your generosity of spirit. Really lovely of you to take the time.
    Keep well & happy, Diane!
    Much love,
    Catherine x

    Hi Kate,
Thanks for the compliments on the hair! I’m not sure what the exact colour is but I just ask for ginger with blonde highlights on top. It’s funny how, at first, people didn’t want to call it ginger as though it was a bad thing! They’d say “oh no it’s strawberry blonde” and I would say “well it shouldn’t be as I asked for full on ginger” ha ha!
I hope all is well with you and 2013 is getting off to a fab start!
    Love Catherine x

    Hi Charlotte,
Thanks for the kind words. The brown boots are from qvc. They are Ecco. Really superb quality too. Hope you find they’re in stock but if not there are some other great ones on here too.

    Hi Lisa,
Thanks for your kind wishes. I had never realised just how common a problem shingles was. I’m amazed by how many people have also had it. It’s a very weird illness and not one I’d welcome back in a hurry!
It’s great to be back at Le Q again. It is like my home from home normally so having to stay off work got old fast.
Keep yourself well, warm & happy!
