It's Christmas Eve, and Olley and I are driving through the gloomy grey wet morning to pick up my Aunty Barbara in Cheltenham and deliver her safely to my parent's home for Christmas. In fact, they will all come to us tomorrow, along with two of my brothers and their families. It isn't just Christmas for us, though – Barbara was born on Christmas Day 1922 so she turns 90 years old tomorrow!
There will be 14 of us celebrating in style with my Green Seasons turkey from QVC taking pride of place on the table! I've been enjoying myself over the last few days – especially on Friday when we had our Presenters' Christmas Lunch in a lovely gastro pub near our new studios in West London. Then I continued on to Windsor, where the extended Olley family had a gathering so that all the cousins could catch up – our three get on really well with Olley's brother Trevor's three grown-up
At the lunch, the terrible trio of Ali K, Debbie G and myself all sat together and had a great time. We had a secret Santa – £5 max and funny but not too rude are the guidelines! I was pleased with the moustache straws I found – we all had a go. I think it's a good look, don't you!?
Two festive meals in one day was maybe a bit excessive, but tomorrow is surely the one day of the year when you shouldn't worry about how much you eat. But I have been trying out something that is coming to QVC on New Year's Day that means you don't have to worry on ANY day of the year, because it helps to curb your appetite and you simply don't WANT to eat too much. I am really pleased to have lost seven pounds over the last couple of months, and it's all without going on a diet, counting calories or even feeling hungry!
It is called Slim-Be and is a strawberry tasting powder that you mix with water and drink before meals. It expands in the stomach so you feel full with less food, and it is also digested really slowly so sends messages to the brain saying 'you don't need any more food yet' so it helps stop snacking between meals. It really seems to be such an easy way to lose weight that I'm delighted to be bringing it to QVC in the first Morning Show of the New Year, and also at 1pm on that day.
It's the time of year when many people decide to try to undo some of the excesses of the past couple of weeks, and if you are planning to embark on a diet this may make sticking to it so much easier. Or you may find you don't need a diet at all – just using Slim-Be and listening to your body may be enough.
