I have a super NIOD competition this week, plus as we enter September, i want to wish my daughter Lauren a Happy Birthday!
Had a weekend of earlier shifts over the bank holiday weekend, which killed me! Haha! I got enough sleep too, but just felt worse. Just shows you when you’re a night owl like me, how the body gets used to its own routine, doesn’t it. But it meant I had some fun with the ‘boys’ on The Lunchtime Show. Miceal then Dale helped me through it – we had lots of laughs and whilst I hope I’m not on earlies too often, I did enjoy it!
First, here’s a smashing NIOD competition. I have a whole hour with lovely Nicola (the guest) on Sunday 18th so in advance, here’s a quick competition. If you’d like to win their NIOD No 1 Gift Set, which contains four best-selling NIOD products, just leave a comment below saying ‘enter me’ and if you like, tell me what makes you want to try it, or what have you tried already?
Each set is worth approx £50 and three people will be randomly selected to win. Competition closes on Thursday 8th September at noon. Winners will be revealed in next week’s blog where I’ll also be giving you a run-down of what to expect from this super skincare range.
QVC’s Standard T&Cs apply. Good luck!
Happy 27th Birthday to my lovely girl!
Well my girl turns 27 this week. She and her BF Nick went off for a week’s canoeing (more here) and are off soon to Italy for their hol, so I met up with her early to celebrate. It’s so lovely that one of the presents she wanted was to spend time with her ma. Made me very proud! We’re off to Guildford for a mummy and Lauren day when she gets back for some retail and spa therapy! Not sure she appreciated me reminding her though, that when I was her age, I had her! Lol.
Devoted to Devon
Made it my job to escape again this week – off to Oxford for a writing festival this weekend. I write best though, at Retreats For You, in Devon – it’s so lovely there. Deb Dooley and doggies and I had a lovely walk on my last trip. Wish I could live there… If only…
Congrats Jackie Kabler! OMG! The woman’s a machine! 62 miles in 24 hours – what a walkathon! Goodness me. We managed 18 miles of the full 26 last year in May at the Moonwalk – (read about it here – if you can get link from around may 15/22 blog last year hon) but Jackie obviously got the bug. If you’d like to sponsor her belatedly and find out more go here. PS her first novel Dead Dog Day is now out on audiobook too! Yay! The second one is due out soon too! Well done Jackie! With Julia’s trilogy and Jemma Forte the Molton Brown guest and I all having novels out, we really are an authorly bunch! V Proud of my pals. (Info about mine are at bottom of this blog.)
Patrick gets Biotec’d! How funny is Quacker’s Patrick Hoy? One of my fave people in the world! Here he is on his travels, getting in the mood for this Sunday’s super Elemis TSV! Read my review of it below, and use the early bird order link to get yours now!
Gracie’s Fave Position She is so funny! My six-year-old choccie and her sister do make me smile! Here’s how madam gets comfy when I let her indoors to have a kip. Her hips are a bit dodgy so maybe that’s why. Does your dog do this too?! Patchy has had some more tests and there’s nothing sinister that they can spot, just old age but that may mean her situation progressively makes her more uncomfortable, with the fluid making her belly swell. If you’d like to see a little video of her to see what you think, go here. Plus you’ll also see my other up to date news on my latest newsletter!
MDD update – Wow just look at this, the latest news story on ITV about our amazing Medical Detection Dogs charity. Now a clever canine is helping this lady make herself safe when her POTS syndrome is about to happen. How do they know? Fascinating.
Book of the Week – ‘How I wonder What you Are’ – a witty romance by fellow Choc Lit author Jane Lovering. I was really pleased to listen to this one – really well read by Melody Grange too – if you want a new author who is entertaining and witty, do kick off with this one – more here.
Blooper – funny, cray-cray Mally!
Nostalgia Which regular QVC guest, who did a TSV within the last month, is playing Suzi in this old Grange Hill?* answer at the bottom!
Facebook Funny – how hilarious is this? And right up my street, given my fanaticism about omega threes! Lol.
Watch Saw Bad Moms at the cinema – great film! I’d definitely recommend it if you like a Bridget Jones/Bridesmaids girl-power type film, and are prepared to suspend belief somewhat! Plus with Mila Kunis AND Kristen Bell AND Christina Applegate AND Jada Pinkett Smith it was a must for me. A good 7 out of ten. Here’s a reminder of the trailer – catch it at the cinema if you can!
And on the TV, look out for Victoria – filling the old Downton slot on a Sunday night. More here.
PPS – countdown to Bridget – (Sept 16th) – two weeks and counting!
This Week on QVC –
- Saturday’s #offer is the new Shark upright vac – around £70 ish so great value!
- Ali Keenan’s Breast Cancer Care pieces launch on Saturday too, at midday – but if you can’t wait here’s a link to her ‘I Hope’ collection. Plus check out Ali’s blog here, and Jill’s, about Jewellery month here.
- Sunday TSV – big Elemis TSV – super recharge your skin set – and I have to say I’ve got right to the bottom of the Biotec day and night cream we were given a few months ago – I loved them so much, along with the cleanser this new sub category of your fave Elemis brand leaves the skin with an almost glass-like smooth finish, without rubbing and scrubbing with particles or enzymes. So if you want a younger glowing skin and makeup to go on more smoothly I’d definitely give this a go! And here’s the Elemis Early Bird Order link.
- Monday #TSV – it’s only top kitchen brand Le Creuset! A fab cast iron signature casserole pan in a choice of sizes – fabulous to see this top new brand on QVC.
- Also debuting this week is Jay Manuel’s Finish cosmetics, with a new #TSV on Wednesday, here’s a sneaky pic!
- Michelle Mone is back on Thurs with a ten carat (Diamond equiv weight) Diamonique tennis bracelet and watch out for new brand Denim & Co with jeans for petites on Friday, under £25 ish.
Next week – a big focus on autumn cleaning as I test run the new Bissell carpet cleaner that’s super-powerful! And I’ll reveal what happened at this weekend’s writing workshop in Oxford with the Historical Novelists’ Society…
Have a great week!
*The QVC guest playing Suzi in the old Grange Hill clip is… Linda Magistris!
PS – HERE’S another fab post from my Till the Fat Lady Slims support group online –
“Just thought I would post a quick update. So from a size 22 in February I am now down to a size 16, such a joy to be able to shop in places previously out of reach for my size. I still bodyblade, cycle and power walk daily, and have got my Crohns disease and well controlled. Hope to be a size 12 for Christmas” S.N. on Twitter.
Fabulous news isn’t it, from yet more ladies finding the support from TTFLS and Freedom Eating is really helping on their weight loss journey. I say to anyone who wants to give it a try, to read up on ‘Till the Fat Lady Slims 2.0 – the ‘When’ Diet’ book which is like the one which sold out in signed hardback on QVC last year. Plus book 3.0 with more tips and tales to inspire. The whole story and links are here on my webpage.
