Just a quick note this time as it’s late and I’m up early for the Morning Show tomorrow morning.
I just wanted to share with you a couple of photos from the last week. It was Halloween last Friday but I didn’t really get involved – I wasn’t one of the army of mums who bought pumpkins to carve out ghoulish-faced lanterns with their children, because my children are grown up. They can buy and carve them for themselves! But it’s the costumes and face paint artistry that they did for themselves that I wanted to show you.
Billy was working at TGI Fridays and their outfits had to be from the neck up, as they wear a uniform. The cocktail bar and restaurant always has a party atmosphere but Halloween weekend is extra special, so the Friday and Saturday shifts got involved – I’m hoping Billy’s zip face didn’t scare too many children trying to enjoy their tea! His ‘The Joker’ inspired face I find rather appealing – he has a big grin anyway and the makeup extends it from ear to ear.
Appealing is something Charlie certainly wasn’t in his homage to the rock band Kiss. He was in London travelling on the tube and said it was odd to be so completely unrecognisable. He immersed himself in the role of rock star and rather enjoyed it, I think. He can dream!
Someone who really is a star, although more in opera and musicals than in rock, is Alfie Boe. His singing is incredible – a rich, warm distinctive voice – he reaches every corner of the room and gets right inside you when he hits his top notes. It was such a privilege to be so close to him as he performed for us. The title of his CD, Serenata, means to sing in your honour, but the honour was all ours.
I was lucky enough to chat with him on The Morning Show today, and he sang two numbers from his new CD for us. What a lovely man he is. The CD sold out before he even sang the second song, but we have a waitlist and will try to get some more. Here’s a taster of what you can enjoy – filmed by me in the studio so forgive the shaky hand!
