Half term heaven… in Manchester!

Pipa and her childrenHalf term went in the blink of an eye… mind you Myles was climbing the walls by the end of it and itching to get back to school which makes me already dread the long summer holidays!

But still, I took them up to Manchester to visit their Dad for a few days which was good. The sun shone the entire time, which I've heard never happens there… ha ha I don't believe a word!

I have to say though, it was a first for me. I'd never been to Manchester before and although I'm not a football fan, it was thrilling to see Old Trafford up close and personal!! Well, we drove passed it on the bus anyway :)

A couple of years ago, I decided I've travelled to various wonderful places on the planet, but wanted to explore more closer to home, so that's been our endeavour. We've done weekends in Chichester, Worcester, Bristol, Manchester, Newcastle and Brighton so far… Dublin and Edinburgh are next on the list!

And by the way, I'm loving the new printed suitcases available to us these days. Pretty wellies and pretty cases… makes all the difference! My daughter's is a camper van (her obsession!) and I always lean toward black and white… I even painted the shutters on our windows black and white stripes!! (my case is coming to QVC soon!!)

Hi Pipa – I live an hour or so away from Edinburgh & I can honestly say its my favourite place to go -,as soon as you set foot off the train at Waverley Station it just feels amazing! My daughter recently moved to Glasgow to go to college & we were there for a visit today but it just doesn’t have the same feeling about it….I thoroughly recommend going to Edinburgh & doing the open topped bus tour – it’s really educational (but wrap up warm, Edinburgh is freezing)!! Also Dynamic Earth is great for kids (the tour bus stops there) – I hope I have sold it to you haha x

I know totally off subject but…
Pippa I know your a BIG Ultrasun fan and I have just bought shed loads to go to Lanzarote with my family (me, husband, two girls 16 & 15) at the end of this month.
Can I ask do you start on high factors and work down like you do with normal sun cream… we normally start at factor 50, after a few days go down to factor 30 (my kids stay on 30) then down to 15 for the second week.
Also if you put too much on are you just wasting it!
Hope you don’t mind me asking… loving your work!
    Take care,
    Lee from York (BIG QVC-er).
    On subject… York is lovely.

Hia Pipa, have you ever been to Bluestone in West Wales. Just come back from a weeks break there and have had the blues since our return. Have a look at the website, its quiet but plenty for the kids to do, we had our 10 year old daugher and 6 year old niece and they were both crying when it was home time. If you do venture there you must hire a golf buggy, soooo much fun.
    Love Helen s

Hi Pippa, I love the photos of you and your children. I always read your blog . you and your lovely children are always on some great traveling adventure. 6 years ago we sold our home and bought a brand new motor home, we traveled through france for 6 months and had the most fantastic time. I learned a lot about myself though and one thing I learned was although I love traveling I am a home bird also.We have been to almost every corner of these Isles over the years and we never get bored. We have some of the best coast lines in the world. It is quite obvious that you have great fun what ever you do. Best Wishes Lyn. PS Pippa your hair looks fab, you really do suit longer hair. xx

Hi ladies ….OK …Lee …(I fear I may be too late) …yes I always start higher and work my way down, just as normal. I also would lean on the side of caution and overuse rather than under use seeing as you are only applying once a day. …hope that helps? Yes York is BEAUTIFUL!! I sang in York Minster as a child when King Hussein of Jordan came for a visit, I’ve great memories, absolutely loved it there. York University has a great programme for Women’s studies …random I know!
Helen ….I have had Bluestone recommended a number of times and as a huge Wales fan, it’s on the list!! I really want to go when the sun shines although it’s bound to pour, particularly being Wales!! I love active holidays as well as the beach ones ….a bit of balance me thinks :) …thanks for the recommendation!!
Lyn Mandy and Heather, thank you for the hair comments …I’m really enjoying it I have to say ..and it’s WAY easier than when it was short!!! Lyn I’m jealous of your camper van …we really want one! My daughter started saving when she was 7!!
Finally Theresa ….I shall do my best although I’m not sure I’ll get it up before I go off to Tenerife. I’ll see what I can do! Good luck with growing it …try not to have it cut too often though, I’ve had it trimmed twice since December and they were very very minor trims. It’s all in how you style it as it grows ….play, try different products and tools …don’t get stuck in the rut of doing what you’ve always done as with each new length, it has new needs!!! Hope that helps! …You’ve inspired me though with what to write my next blog about as I was struggling for ideas!!! I’ll do it before going away (36 hours!)…..hopefully!!! xx

    Hi Pipa
See on your blog you hope to travel to Dublin. Its a great place to visit loads to do – If you come over try to get outside Dublin. I’m from Dublin ( Dun Laoghaire) but now live in Louth ( known as the wee county) Love love love it and so many places to see and the history of the county is amazing. so happy here for the last 9 years and even though broke up with my partner (5 years) will not move back to Dublin as love living in the countryside – If you make it over enjoy
By the way love the new hair style – you really have a knack of looking SO WELL as all times and love you as a presenter – Keep up the good work
    Best Wishes always
