Richard Ward Couture Hair launches on QVC

Richard Ward

You may already recognise Richard Ward from glossy magazines, Lorraine's breakfast show on GMTV, and many other TV shows, but stylist to the stars, and even the royals, will be launching his Couture Hair range on QVC today at 2pm.

Not only will he be talking you through his multi-tasking hair range, but he'll also be giving you expert tips to create a salon-style look in the comfort of your own home.

We were lucky enough to catch up with him before his big debut…

How did you start out in the hair business?

I came to London when I was 16 and began by career as an apprentice in one of the city’s top salons. After that I held positions in two other leading salons before opening my own salon with my wife when I was 24.

How does your haircare range differ from others on the market?

My goal was to give you a taste of my Chelsea salon while addressing all major hair concerns in one bottle. They are truly multitasking products that I’ve created for today’s modern lifestyles and modern hairstyles.

Whilst we’re targeting the appearance of damage and therefore frizz, I wanted to boost shine, volume and colour vibrancy. And to top that, all my styling products have heat and humidity defence technology and my gorgeous Couture Hair signature floral citrus fragrance.

How would you describe the range in three words?

Luxurious, multi-tasking and modern.

What are the hair trends for the Christmas party season?

Glossy, healthy hair with movement. Hair needs to look like you’ve done it yourself and not over-styled. If the style takes more than 20 minutes to create it’s not on trend.

Can you suggest a quick and easy way to transform hair when going straight to a party from work?

My Optimiser Style Reviver is my must-have styling product for dry hair make-overs – great for taking normal to fine hair from your desk to the dance floor. Also my Memoriser Holding Serum is a must-have for achieving a glossy sheen or defining layers. For instant easy party glamour, clip hair up at the sides or add a ponytail.

And lastly, as hair stylist to the royals, will you be transforming Kate Middleton's for her big day?

I’m proud to say we have been looking after the Middletons for many years. But at the moment I really can’t say anymore. Obviously we would love to be involved in the wedding of the century, who wouldn’t?
