I’m back and had a great time in Norway! Only a short week, but it was lovely to be there and see lots of friends and family and even though the weather was a bit grey most of the time we had a super time. I did get something of a shock though… my wife had told me we were going to see some friends for lunch, and on the way just dropping her mum and dad off at a nice hotel for their annual Arthritis lunch.
They told me there was an art exhibition there and suggested I came in with the kids to have a look. So, in I go and am totally flabbergasted to find all my close friends in Norway there to welcome me… for a surprise 50th birthday lunch! I was somewhat speechless (which is unusual for me) but after a little while, had a great time and I was given loads of lovely presents.
We had a very traditional meal called spekemat (literally dried food!) which is a collection of cured meats and lovely potatoes with various extra bits – mmmmmmmmm!
It’s back to normal now though and how busy we’ve been! Worked the saturday and sunday of the bank holiday and then managed to fit a kitchen in my wife’s shop on sunday night and monday! The kids are beginning to wind each other a up a bit, as they have been together for about five weeks now, so it will be a bit of a relief (for them too) to get to school next week. Louisa starts proper school, so we’ve been trying on lots of uniforms and practising hair etc. It's all go!
I hope you have had a nice time over the summer period, and although you won’t have had much of a chance to send postcards about the lovely weather, just remember November last year…… and enjoy whatever we get over the next two months!
All the best,
Love Simon x
