Guilty pleasures

This week…
– Guilty pleasures – what's yours? I'll let you in on a secret…
- 'City of Angels' – loving 'am dram'!
- A fab place to eat in Putney, and more watery fun!
- Plus 'Pirates 4' – out on DVD

What's your guilty pleasure?
Gavin Henson in The Bachelor Now I don't mean your guilty secret! That's best kept to yourself(!!). What I mean is your guilty pleasure. What do you watch regularly just for the sheer pleasure it gives you, even if your friends take the mick out of you for doing so? QVC excluded of course!

Mine's 'The Bachelor'.

It's a real experiment in human behaviour, is 'The Bachelor'. Apart from providing us a nice bit of eye-candy, Gavin is displaying his sensitive side, including being severely miffed and terribly hurt that one of the girls had the cheek to go snog someone else – a cameraman – on the quiet. He was stunned that all eyes were not on him, bless his cotton G-string (well, I'm guessing what was under the towel during his nude modelling segment!)

Yes he was gutted about Carianne's disloyalty, not realising that he's doing exactly the same to them every time he snogs one of their competitors when they go on private dates! Gradually the numbers are dwindling until he finds his new love, and my money's on someone like April, or Morgan… Yours?

Other guilty pleasures? OK, so not so guilty, these ones! Have to say I'm also loving the return of 'Downton Abbey', and 'X Factor' – I think Gary Barlow is 'lush'! And I like the new dynamic of the new team of judges too – excellent harsh first cut at boot camp. So those are some of my guilty pleasures. It doesn't have to be TV – tell me, what's yours?

Busiest day
Also last week – had the busiest day ever! Wakeboarding in the morning with my brother Glenn, then matinee theatre show and supper with my son, then couple of hours with my pal Goody, who's also a self-confessed Henson-addict! Oh and then the Yankee Candle launch at midnight! That was just one day last week! Lol.

Glenn in his wakeboarding gear So – firstly, on Saturday morning, there I was at Quayside Wake down the M3 at Mytchett again, for more wakeboarding – with brother Glenn this time. He was superb actually – even managing to do a 180 turn (swap to other foot forward on board) on his first session!

We've now got the bug! Going again on Friday 30th – whilst the weather lasts anyway. Although you're not actually cold in a wet suit, cos the water warms up next to your skin. Strange feeling, but  makes it more comfortable when you end up in the lake! Here's Glenn doing his turn. I'd love to learn how to do it much better – it's certainly a brilliant workout too! Arms still aching now from last week!

City of Angels
City of Angels program Then it was home, walk the dogs, wash hair, and off to the Saturday matinee of the am dram production of 'City of Angels' – my fave musical ever. Lovely son Brad had given me a treat and booked the show, by am dram society 'Cygnet Players'. Mainly 'cos he and Lauren grew up with the original CD from the West End production (1993) being played constantly by me in the car, singing my head off with the kids and my ex-husband Tony doing all the harmonies!

I'm a great fan of true am dram, where there's always a couple of performers who have amazing talent, a couple who are a bit dodgy, and something always happens to make you laugh. Great songs, and a fab show. Brad really enjoyed it too. My fave song is 'With Every Breath I Take' – YouTube it to hear it, but be sure to include 'City of Angels' in your search or you'll get 'The Police'! There are lots of versions to choose from – and you'll see how lovely it is.

Brad at Greg Wallace's cafe restaurant Then just before I spent the evening chewing the fat with my lovely pal Goody (one of the QVC models and acupuncturist and spiritual person and pal extraordinaire!), Brad and I went for a bite to eat in Putney at tea time.

Dinner at Greg Wallace's cafe restaurant EAT: We went to Greg Wallace's café restaurant in Upper Richmond Road, Putney – he's the dude from 'Masterchef' I'm told? Uses some of the finest fayre from Secretts Farm. Nice grub – we only had supper, but very nice it was too. I had THE most tasty honey baked ham and mixed seasonal salads, and Brad had one of their famous pies. Yummy!

Then it was off to work for an amazing Yankee TSV launch and their best ever day on QVC. Hope you got yours! And your 'The Sak' bags? – that whole hour sold out on Friday very early again. And your crystal bracelet on Monday night at midnight?

Debbie's Facebook strand As predicted that too went very fast – within 15 minutes of Jilly's launch, actually, all the warehouse (and BMSM) had gone. Hope you got yours! And well done to the Facebook gang who kept me company watching events unfold – hi to Melissa, Wendy, Margaret, Janie, Clare,  Michele, Chelle, Gayle, Kay, Nicole, April, Cheryl, Sheila, Joanne and Loraine, for all your comments in that strand on my Facebook. Fab being geeky together! Lol.

Oh by the way, much discussion too on facebook about Sally Morgan and psychics. You know I'm a fan if you read my blogs regularly. Monday evening, on my day off, I did go to see Sally Morgan with Craigy – but you'll have to wait till next week to know more about that. Unless you're psychic, in which case you'll know already…

WATCH: Other footnotes include a recommendation for a new release DVD. Since I didn't manage to catch 'Crazy, Stupid Love' yet, (maybe next time), here's a quick look at Johnny Depp. I mean his movie. (OK it's just an excuse to look at Jonny Depp!)

Film is very well done – one of my favourite of the series actually. He's grown into the role and made it fresh, rather than a 'yet another' in the franchise. Fab supporting roles too – liked the script, the usual suspects, and newcomer Penelope Cruz's character, and as usual, Depp's Jack Sparrow, modelled on Keith Richards apparently? It's well worth a watch! I enjoyed this more than the last 'Harry Potter' actually, which was out around the same time. I gave 'Pirates 4' about eigth-and a-quarter out of ten. Mainly due to Jonny Depp being on the screen for much of the movie…

QVC: It's going to be a big birthday weekend on air! I'm really looking forward to my shows on Saturday and Sunday. Including Butler & Wilson shows!

Do let me know your thoughts on the topics above – 'specially if you regularly read my blogs, but never comment – let me know who you are and what you think! More next week – including what the Instyler team did to my hair on Wednesday!

    Hi Debs
As far as tv is concerned, I’m generically a factual/docu type of viewer. But my guilty pleasure is ‘the real housewives’ franchise. My fave is RH Orange County, followed by RH Beverly Hills. I guess I can be guilty of being too serious at times, so I shouldn’t be too disappointed at watching reality tv – I am still proud to say I have watched not one minute of Big Brother! I’m epileptic and was rushed into hospital a couple of weeks ago, and when something like this happens, it can impel you to attempt to put things into perspective. My mum had just left for Stoke on Trent that day as well, and had to return. So no holiday! I’m 45, Debs, and I don’t know what I would do without her. I’m sure everyone says this, but I really do have the best mum in the world.
What an excellent birthday weekend’s shopping at QVC. Made some Lola Rose orders – with that mad easy pay, why not? I’m certainly not going to miss £5+ on my credit card – x 3!
I’m also looking forward to the Emu tsv – any clues?
Lots of love and sloppy kisses from my brood to your’s. Take care. Speak soon.

Susan – ahh bless ya – thanks so much! Yes I was very pleased – been doing tons of squats and crunches and lunges of late so it’s paying off! lol. Also helped keep my balance as I stepped onto that wobbly block! I think they stopped using them shortly after that! lol

Debs, Timmy Time is a spin off from Shaun the Sheep which itself is a spin off from Wallace & Gromit (in which Shaun appeared),Nige 🙂
