Yin Hu on the Silk Road This Friday, June 17th, we'll be celebrating the fourth anniversary of Silk Route Fashion Jewellery on QVC. We caught up with our guest Yin Hu (left) to find out a bit more about her time on QVC, the collection and some exciting new designs…

Four years on QVC

Almost before I realised, the fourth anniversary of my Silk Route Fashion Jewellery show is around the corner! There will be many new styles with special Anniversary Prices in this show and I'm so excited to introduce some fantastic new designs to all my QVC UK customers.

If you've never seen my show before, let me tell you a little about me. I was born and grew up in China, then in 1998 I moved to New York to work as a jewellery designer and merchandiser. I was lucky enough to work in the fine jewellery field for two years before changing direction to work in fashion jewellery.

Yin travels the Silk Road I love to travel; the first time I travelled along the Silk Road was 15 years ago. I was so inspired by everything I saw - the cultures, the religions, the arts and the crafts - especially the jewellery. After I returned I started to research the area and collect the jewellery I had seen on my travels.

The things I collected gave me the idea to create my own homage to the style of the Silk Road, and that's how Silk Route jewellery was born. My vibrant jewellery collection captures the culture, colours and beauty of the art from Silk Road and brings it into the present day, in affordable and unique fashion jewellery designs.

A few of my favourite pieces from the upcoming shows:

Silk Route turquoise and cloisonne earrings and necklace set Turquoise is the must-have jewellery for summer. This necklace and earring set is made out of oval turquoise stones and small turquoise chips. Many centuries ago, turquoise was first brought to Europe from Turkey via the ancient Silk Road.

This is how turquoise got its name – it was named after the Turkish traders that brought it to Europe.

Silk Route freshwater pearl and mother-of-pearl flower necklace Get a classic look with three rows of freshwater pearls accented by a pretty mother-of-pearl flower clasp in this beautiful necklace. Light grey and cream are classic colours for pearls, so this will never be out of fashion!

By placing the mother-of-pearl flower clasp in the front, side, or back, this one necklace creates many different looks.

Silk Route crystal and freshwater pearl necklace and earrings setThis necklace and earring set is composed of high-quality freshwater pearls and rose-coloured crystals. The colour is very soft and feminine. The long length design allows you to wear it as a long necklace, make a knot in front as a pendant, or wrap it around your neck to become two rows – it's so versatile!

See you all soon,

How sad to hear this, I never even imagined her to be aged 71 years.
