Guest Judy Lever on Collier Campbell’s new homeware range

Hand-painted Collier Campbell designsWe have gorgeous homeware brand Collier Campbell coming back tomorrow (Sunday 30th June) at 4pm and 8pm with their stunning, hand-painted fabrics and stylish home furnishing designs.

With an exciting new collection launching, we thought we'd catch up with guest Judy Lever to find out more…

Judy LeverTell us about the brand your association with them?

Collier Campbell was started in the 1960s by two sisters who were passionate about colour and pattern and who wanted to make fabulous designs and great quality products available to everyone. Over the years we've worked with some great names – Liberty, Conran, Habitat, Jaeger to name but a few, and the famous French fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent was inspired by a Collier Campbell design for his first ready-to-wear collection.

I co-founded and ran a maternity wear business, Blooming Marvellous for 20 years before selling it a couple of years ago. I've always loved Collier Campbell designs so was delighted to be asked to get involved and I took over Collier Campbell in 2010, heading up a highly-talented and long-standing team.

Behind the scenes at Collier CampbellWhat inspires Collier Campbell designs?

We have the most wonderful design library from which we draw inspiration, updating designs and colours as well as creating new designs for all our collections and products. We love coming upon something unexpectedly when we are out and about – a vase of flowers, a vintage fabric, a piece of jewellery, a gorgeous garden – and adding the photo to our inspiration board.

What most distinguishes Collier Campbell designs is that we still hand paint all of them ourselves. This gives them the fluidity and freshness that computer generated designs just can’t match – you can really see the brushstrokes!

What can we expect from the new range?

The new range of duvet sets is a wonderful mix of jacquards and prints that are all exclusive to QVC and designed to bring colour and joy to your bedroom! We have produced our bestselling Bird Jacquard design in a new colour way, a soft duck egg which looks and feels very luxurious.

We also have a new print – Singing Bird, which is a hand-painted design with a delightful mix of birds and flowers spreading across the bed. We also have gorgeous white wicker baskets lined in the same print to co-ordinate – ideal for holding toiletries, books and magazines, spare towels or all the bits and bobs that clutter your bedroom!

We've also designed a tote bag in the same print which is perfect for shopping or carrying books or folders or even going to the beach – it has a wipe clean lining! We also have a new set of underbed storage bags made in collaboration with the Camouflage Company in our exclusive Posy Scatter design which goes with all our bedding ranges.

What are your favourite pieces from the new collection?

That is such a hard question as I genuinely love everything we've done for QVC! I do love the Singing Bird print and we have designed a cushion to co-ordinate, with our signature bird on a light turquoise background – he looks fabulous with his beautifully embroidered plumage!

And I have a soft spot for our special Birthday Cushion to celebrate QVC's 20 years in our Secret Garden print – the gorgeous hand-painted flowers are so vibrant and colourful!
