Well as I am writing this I am drowning my sorrows in my cappuccino as the school holidays are well and truly over! I do miss having the children with me as we have such a great time together but I have never understood why school can't begin at a more sociable hour like after lunch!
We had a fantastic holiday in Rhodes and stayed in a lovely hotel in Kalithea which is a beautiful little resort about twenty minutes outside of Rhodes town. The weather was amazing, the food was glorious and the cocktails were to die for! Plus I had the opportunity to relax and read Debbie's novel 'A Hawaiian Affair' which was brilliant, and the best complement I can pay Debs was that I completely forgot that she was the writer as I got totally immersed in the story. It's well worth a read, although my sunglasses did steam up a bit, oooh missus!
I must admit as a family we are probably a bit boring on holiday, we tend to stick around the pool mostly, as although I like to walk along the beach I've never been a huge fan of sand!
We are usually the last ones down in the morning just managing to make it in time or breakfast and our evenings consist of mainly playing UNO! But we love every minute!
The only thing I really missed while I was away was the climax to the lily competition. I guess the Jilly Lily was just not mean't to be! I I was very proud of how my flowers turned out (even if I do say so myself!) so I thought I'd take one last photo!
I have to admit that Dale's winning display was simply spectacular and the name Ruby Dale does sound more sophisticated than the Jilly Lily! So well done Dale.
So now it's all back to normal again, a school shirt covered in permanent pen, a lost library card, somebody else's PE shorts arghhhhhh! and it's only week one!
Meanwhile there's a new photographic competition, which you can see here, where YOU are the judges, so watch out for that and don't forget you can keep up with all the latest gossip on twitter @jillyqvc
