Great-great Aunt Julia!

Leo Vincent William Well, he kept us waiting for a fortnight, but eventually baby Leo Vincent William was born in the early hours of Tuesday morning to my great-niece Tansy. After hearing the news I announced to my family that I'm now officially a great-great aunt, to which Daniel replied, 'Does that make me a super-duper cousin?' Actually, does anyone know what that makes him, apart from a wannabe comedian?

So, congratualtions to Tansy and Lee. If wondering about his names, Leo is after Leonardo da Vinci, Vincent is after Vincent van Gogh, and William is in memory of my dad.

Great-great aunt does sound as though it refers to someone of more advanced years than me, and I did find myself checking in the mirror to see if any more lines have appeared overnight (nope!) – thank goodness for the effective beauty products we sell at QVC!

Speaking of which, don't miss our 'Beauty Stocking Fillers' show on Monday 5th October at 11pm. The line-up includes some of my favourites like L'Occitane and Gale Hayman (I've just ordered my Eye Lift Gel Duo, which I can't be without), but there are also some products that are new to me. I'll be on the look out for the Liptini and Nailtini ranges, which I'm looking forward to trying on the night. Hope you can join me!

Till next time,
Julia. x.

Hi Julia congrats on becoming a Great Great Aunt. I’m “only” a Great Aunt. My Niece always wanted her children close together so when her baby was very young she became pregnant again. What she didn’t bargain for was TWINS! She now has 3 babies under 21 months! She’s lucky they are all very good (they have to be, you definitely need some kind of routine) but very hard going-in more ways than one! Although very good company for each other when they’re older-I hope.

    Hi Julia
What lovely news for you! A beautiful baby and a name to match. I can’t get my head around Daniel’s exact relationship to Leo though – most likely cousin several times removed? Something like that anyway – probably super duper cousin is better!
    Love Jill xx

    Hi Julie
You made me smile ‘only’ a great Aunt!!!! I thought it was quite tricky having just 13 months between Daniel and Sophie but how much harder must it be with twins. I have to say I was very lucky as Daniel walked at 10 months so I only had one ‘babe in arms’, and he used to help me at nappy change time by fetching the nappy for Sophie once he was all cleaned up. Those were the days …….
They have been great company for each other and still get on suprisingly well – most of the time
    much love

    Hi Jill
He does look rather gorgeous. I haven’t seen him in real life yet as my sisters family are all based North of the border. I think maybe you are right about him being a cousin several times removed BUT super duper is much more fun!

    Hello Margaret
Always good to hear from you – I don’t suppose I’ll have much opportunity for loads of cuddles, although I think my great niece,Tansy, is planning on bringing him down to Nottingham to meet his Great Great Grandmother (my mum) when he’s old enough to travel, so I’ll try and get ‘home’ then.
William is my son Daniel’s middle name too. Do any of your family get abbreviated? My dad was Bill.
    much love

    Hi Dorothy
He does look cute doesn’t he, and you’re right I’m pretty sure he will be spoilt rotten particularly by his nanny, my niece Toogie!!
As for birthdays – don’t add any more years, just enjoy the celebrations, which I’m sure are always plentiful on New Years Eve?!?

    Hi Julia
Thanks for replying to my last message. Unfortunately the 3 “babies” are not too well at the moment. That’s the only thing, when one baby is ill they all are. I do agree though Chloe (2) is like a Mother to the twins and tries to help out with nappy changing etc!
Changing the subject a tad have you seen “your” football match fixture for October 17th? Will you be going or are you working? I hope they don’t do too well!! as Cardiff haven’t been doing so well this year-no guesses which part of the country I’m from then!
    Take Care

    Hi Julie
Hope the babies will be better soon. SOOOOOOOOOO you’re a Cardiff fan – may the best team win on the day (which in truth I hope is Palace!) I won’t be going as I am on air that afternoon. Did you know that your Chairman, Peter Ridsdale, was the very first CEO of QVC UK??
    Small world egh?

    Hello Violet
So good to hear your news on Dylan – fingers crossed he won’t be on the oxygen too long. Give him a cuddle from me. I agree, Leo looks fab, hopefully will get a cuddle with him before too long.

    Hi Julia
Yes it is a small world-I didn’t know about Peter Ridsdale being QVC’s first CEO. My Daughter’s partner’s going to the match, I cannot make it as my Husband has a big “0” Birthday that day so I’ll be busy with surprises! Cardiff have done well over the last couple of matches (10 goals in 2 games)but we’ll see!
Didn’t I read in a previous blog of yours that Sophie’s boyfriend was from Wales?
Will keep in touch, take care.

    Hi Julie
Wish your hubby Happy Birthday from me! Palace are also on a bit of a role so as you say, we’ll see.
Sophie’s boyfriend is from the Northeast BUT he is stationed in Wales – he’s in the army. Sophie goes to see him in Wales most weekends.
    much love

    Hi Julia
You are my favourite presenter; I think you are absolutely fab. You have a wonderful sense of fun and humour and you’re brilliant at your job, a joy to watch. Keep up the good work. I enjoy all your shows especially the beauty and jewellery presentations. When you present jewellery your décolletage shimmers beautifully behind the jewellery, what beauty product do you use? Is it sold on QVC? I should love to purchase this product and thus hope you are allowed to reveal your secret!?! Looking forward to your reply. Best wishes, Susan.

    Hello Susan
What wonderful compliments – you’re making me blush! Seriously though it’s very kind of you.
It’s not a secret – I dust ‘True’ from Bare Escentuals on my decolletage and the top of my shoulders when I’m doing jewellery ………. I hope it’s in stock.
    much love

    Hi Julia
I’ve just now had a chance to catch up with your blog. Leo is absolutely beautiful and you must be so proud of your dad being honoured in such a lovely wayx By the way i do remember the “Chocolate cake incident” another hilarious QVC moment(previous blog reply)x Just been reading Debs Greenwods blog re “her waist returning” and just want to say your looking mighty fine around the waist area yourself just now – Daniel’s workout advice is paying dividendsx
    Speak soon

    Hello Linda
Still waiting to see the gorgeous Leo ‘in the flesh’ so to speak and yes, you’re right, thrilled that William was one of the names chosen – it’s also Daniel’s ‘middle’ name.
Talking about ‘middles’ thanks for the comment about my waistline – it does help having a son who is a Personal Trainer and I must say the Ab Rocket that he demonstrates on QVC is an effective way to tone the tum and waist ……. although swimming 100+ lengths of a 12 metre pool per day on holiday also helped. If you live in the Caterham area of Surrey I can let you have details of his fitness website if you would like??
Got to go and ice a chocolate cake now … LOL!!!!!
    much love

    Hi Julia
I’m in Glasgow,Scotland. Thanks so much for the offer of Dans website details,i really appreciate the thoughtx I try to use my pilates machine(a QVC purchase) and exercise bike as often as possible. I remember on one of Marjolein’s shows you made a comment of using the machine not only to lose weight/tone but also ,when you are our age, for flexibility, this comment has always stayed with me and it has encouraged me to use my machine daily , time permitting. I broke my back about six years ago – i’m good now just a bit of nerve damage – and find the pilates machine brilliant along with swimming(although i’m more of a 20 length girl) congratulations on the 100 lengths you are able to do – fantasticx By the way you mentioned Choccie cake – i tried your recipe and i had great success – everyone loved it, i’m going to try your Chrissie cake recipe this year – i’ll let you know how i go(i’ve bought the Cooks Essentials TSV today). Look after yourselfx

    Hi Linda
A bit of a way to travel for a fitness session!! So glad that Pilates has helped you since your back injury – it really is a fantastic piece of equipment, my favourite exercise along with swimming. Marjolein is back next weekend and I’m really looking forward to seeing her as I have missed her last 2 visits. Pleased you liked the choccie cake and hope you have similar success with the Christmas Cake

“great aunt julia” well well congratulations julia, the term Great aunt tends to bring forward images of Victorian decrepit old dears with Queen Victoria hairsyles. Well Julia, you have certainly jazzed up the image,i think you are vivacious, full of life and intelligent, with a pair of legs to die for,i think my wife has cottoned on to why i watch qvc so much!!
