Gone With The Wind

Vivien Leigh's driving license This is just a quickie before I go off on my hols. Firstly a big thanks to all of you who gave Sophie the 'thumbs up' for the 'Pin-up For Heroes' calendar, and also to those of you who left her encouraging comments. I will keep you posted on the progress.

Also thanks to those of you who have sent birthday cards – I'm not opening any of them before I go, so I am planning an opening ceremony when I'm in on June 18th for the Butler and Wilson show. I hope he appreciates that I am breaking into my holiday for him, but he's worth it as he is such a lovely guest.

Talking of lovely guests, how thoughtful is this? A couple of months ago I did the launch show of Lilly and Van fashion on QVC. The guest, Lilly, was saying that her husband Van is a grandson of the famous Hollywood Actor Douglas Fairbanks Jr. We started talking about movies and stars of that era and I mentioned that my favourite film is 'Gone With The Wind', and that I love Vivien Leigh.

The back of Vivien Leigh's driving license When I met her last night prior to her appearance on the ITV 1 'The Zone' show, she handed me this 'Vivien Leigh Drvers License'. Not only had she remembered our conversation she had bought me a little memento of the great lady herself … I can honestly say that I was truly touched by this genuine gesture. Do any of you have souvenirs or mementoes of the Hollywood Greats??

I'm on with Lilly and Van at 5pm this afternoon in our Fashion on Friday regular slot, and then I have the Finale of our Opaque Gems week for 2 hours from 8pm. Hope you can join me for those before I crash out on a sunlounger with my Factor 30 on!

Much love,
Julia x

I’m watching you now on the internet presenting the lily and van show and i can certainly see that your effort with diet chef and your Aero Pilates machine has reaped rewards! You seemed really chuffed when you modelled the sleeveless tunic top. I too have felt the benefits with my increased gym attendance and it feels so lovely when other people start to notice the results that it spurs you on and puts a spring in your step. Enjoy your holiday! I’m off too in 2 weeks and intend to watch the last part of the World Cup in a Cretan bar! Glad that Crystal Palace have had some good news, we are still awaiting the results from the CVA, hopefully when i get back there will be some good news for Portsmouth. Will try to catch your butler and wilson show on the 18th as they do have QVC in Crete! Happy Holidays!

We have rain predicted tomorrow, but it won’t keep me out of the pool.

    Hi Julia
Sounds like you had a fantastic day, minus the dreaded rain! Good for you only having one piece of birthday cake and the purse sounds lovely and the coin will bring you loads of luck!
The weather wasn’t too bad, it looked like rain, but didn’t. Chris arranged for a bouquet of flowers to be delivered whilst he was away (although he’s just gone to take them back to the florist because he wasn’t happy with them… oh dear!). When he arrived home, he brought a scrummy chocolate cake that he’d had made. We then went out for a meal and I had a ‘candle’ in my dessert! How weird was this though…. there were two more people celebrating their birthdays at the same place!!
Because of the meal and dessert, I’ve not attacked the birthday cake yet, but…. I’m about to do so now, with a lovely cup of coffee… aaah, bliss! Although, I may have to have a brandy in it when Chris gets back!!!
    Take care and speak soon.

    Hi Una
I’m off the red wine at the moment …. it’s an age thing! A couple of months ago we were at home having dinner and Daniel had persuaded me to have a glass of Chateau Neuf du Pap with him. I had 2 sips and a couple of minutes later he said “Mum you’ve gone bright red”. I looked in the mirror and sure enough I had. He and Sophie said my face filled up like a wine glass from the neck up. Not an attractive look and quite uncomfortable so I’ll lay off the red wine for the time being!

I am hoping that I haven’t put any weight on, but no scales here so don’t really know. I haven’t gone too mad with food and drink and I have been swimming lots and doing Pilates so should be OK.
I love Gone With the Wind – the only bad thing is that you need to have a spare 4 hours to sit and enjoy it

Well, I have just watched the Morning Show featuring Billy Ocean.
What an ABSOLUTE TREAT. I am so glad he is making a comeback. I dont know if you managed to catch the show on the internet? His version of Suddenly was absolutely fantastic. Very emotional, and such a beautiful voice. QVC have been amazing recently, having so many recording artists on.
Was lovely to hear the man tell his story. (would have been better without the constant interruptions from the presenter though, we wanted to hear what HE had to say) Sorry for moaning!
Anyway, please pass on our thanks to the people upstairs for making QVC the best, AGAIN.

Thanks for the welcome to the 50’s club, it’s not half as bad as I thought….
The flowers were sorted out, he got a refund and went to the local village florist who delivered a gorgeous bouquet. The other flowers were past their sell by date, but I didn’t want to hurt his feelings and it was only when he said he was disappointed, that I agreed.
Just had my last piece of birthday cake and feel a bit sickly now…. Chris can have the rest when he gets back.

    Hi Julia
Was good to see you back with Simon last night.
WHAT A SHOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Your producers and directors etc must go for a lie down in a darkened room when you 3 are on together!!!
We had everything last night. Beautiful designs, crystals, questionable parentage, enamelling, Simon organising Alis honeymoon, slurping, and when he said “what time is it” right in the middle of the show, and went for a cup of tea, I almost fell off the chair laughing. Absolutely priceless. MUCH better than watching all the other stuff on TV right now!!!
Some of these so called comedians are way overpaid when we watch the likes of Mr Wilson, he is just a natural.
You were looking stunning. I remember when you wore that dress before, and Simon is right, the colour was just right for you.
You were also right, that one day I would find something in the range that would suit me…..I just fell in love with the white necklace and earrings with the little hearts. Its so delicate looking but quite substantial without being too showy. Cant wait for it to arrive, and will give you the verdict!!
Anyway Julia. Just thought I would say Hi. Hope you enjoy the rest of your holiday. See you Friday.

    Hi Julia
Watched your show with Simon and totally agree with Una’s sentiments… it was hysterical. My tummy hurt from laughing sooo much, far better than sit ups!!
Just had to tell you that Chris made a purchase from QVC the other night, which is very rare indeed. He was watching Leighton Denny’s demonstration and was so impressed he bought the
‘Leighton Denny Crystal Nail Files’!! I thought it was a lovely gesture for me, but then he said that I could have one of the files and he would have the other… you see he pinches my emery boards because he keeps his nails a certain length for his guitar playing he thought the crystal files would stop his nails from splitting. Oh well, at least I’ll get one of them!
