Or should that be bleary eyed?? It's been a very busy week for me this week as I'm sure it has been for most of you too. As well as being at QVC, I had the small matter of finishing off Simon Wilson's 'knitted' present before he left the country on Tuesday.
Do you recall us joking about the balaclava he had as a small child? Well he wanted a knitted gift from me, so I made him a snood/neckwarmer in purple. I took it into the shop on Tuesday lunchtime before heading into work, and for once I think he actually liked a present from me, rather than planning to bury it in his garden!!
After work on Tuesday I met up with Renee Greenstein, from Attitudes by Renee, to have a bite of dinner. We have been meaning to do this for ages, but as this was her fifth anniversary with QVC UK and I was her first presenter, we thought this was an appropriate celebration.
We had a tasty Indian meal – I have never tasted fine green beans or asparagus so good, and she was responsible for getting me slightly 'tiddly' on a couple of glasses of wine… I really am a cheap date LOL!!! I thought I had texted Chris, my other half, to come and fetch me, but hadn't pressed 'send'! He happened to ring half an hour later to ask what time I needed picking up. Good job he did or I would have been spending the night on the couch in the Presenter Lounge.
Then yesterday was our Presenter Christmas Lunch. We have to have two of these because of 'on air' commitments and the first one was yesterday. We always do a 'Secret Santa' and my 'pressie' was a box of coffee chocolates, a bottle stopper (useful for me, as I've already mentioned my very low alcohol threshold) and the gorgeous pair of 'Dame Edna' Christmas specs you see me pictured in!
I wore them on the walk back from lunch to QVC and it raised a smile on so many stressed looking faces – maybe they should be on the NHS? I also wore them 'on air' last night during my show with Glen Campbell – not sure he would recommend them as a style accessory!
Tonight is the QVC Christmas Party which I'm supposed to be going to with Sophie. She has been poorly with the flu for the last few days so we might not make it. If we do, I will definitely be 'goggle-eyed' tomorrow on my only day off this week, before being back in for our Last Minute Beauty Gifts event on Sunday. I'm on early on Sunday with Liz Earle, Elemis and Leighton Denny, so if you still have a few gifts to get, rest assured you can still shop with confidence for pre-Christmas delivery.
See you at 4pm,
love Julia x
