Find out more about our Global Beauty brands

Global Beauty

This weekend we are celebrating Global Beauty to shine a light on the beauty trends, traditions and exotic ingredients that QVC have sourced from around the world. We have asked beauty experts from some of your favourite brands to give us a little history of their companies and tell us about the unique ingredients that make your favourite products so special.

Cathy Kangas from PRAI PRAI products are all based around the use of the exotic prai root from Thailand. This amazing plant has unique properties, which make it perfect for skincare. Here is a video showing the story of the prai root and the background of the PRAI brand.

Denis Simioni from Ojon Ojon oil is nature’s golden elixir – a rare and powerful natural ingredient that’s rich in essential lipids, similar to those found in healthy hair. I made this discovery many years ago in the remote tropical rainforests of Central America.

Today, it is still hand-harvested and extracted as it has been for over 500 years. In one year a single ojon tree produces less than 8,000 nuts, enough to supply just three cups of ojon oil.

First the nut cluster is cut from the Ojon tree, then the clusters are then stacked in the hot sun to dry. The individual nuts are then hand-picked from the cluster and simmered in a pot of boiling water to soften the orange outer shell, the peel is completely removed by hand and the brown nut inside is washed. We take out the kernel and cook it over an open fire until the precious elixir is extracted, then poured into a glass bottle and becomes a velvety  paste as it cools.

Now after years of searching for the next ingredient, Ojon has discovered another remedy to dry, damaged hair, Rouge Olifera extract, with protective and reparative benefits yet to be discovered.

Tune in for Ojon today to find out more!

Michaela Taylor from Gatineau Renowned in the skincare industry for eighty years, Gatineau has always been at the forefront of science, giving us incredible formulas that deliver fast, visible results.

The creator, famous Parisian beauty therapist Jeanne Gatineau, started out by making her own at home products to give to her clients. Her reputation for making beautiful and innovative skincare quickly grew and soon she was collaborating with some of the most influential bio-chemists of the time.

Using her beauty therapy expertise combined with cutting edge technology, Gatineau quickly grew into the trusted brand we know today. That concept has remained all these years – science and beauty therapy working together to create skincare that is as pleasurable to use as it is effective.

Gatineau remains one of the most highly regarded brands in France and is used by beauty therapists in over 80 countries around the world. Speaking as a beauty therapist myself, I have seen first-hand the amazing results clients have achieved with Gatineau, and long may it continue!

I adore ojon shampoo / conditioner for my strawberry blonde hair, a colour which can, if the hair is neglected, fade miserably. As both myself and my mum have had trouble with the applicators on the new mousse with brush cans, I do feel they need to address this problem. This is putting me off purchasing any ojon product other than the shampoo and conditioner.

Can I say a huge thank you to Alison Young and the rest of the team for a wonderful, inspiring and informative Global Beauty Weekend. I can only imagine the amount of planning and preparation that goes into such an event and I truely hope that it will be repeated.
I would like to give a special thank you to Alison herself. I find her to be totally inspiring and hugely appreciate her honesty when explaining the benefits of the products and how they can be incorporated into my existing beauty regimes. I never feel pressured to buy when watching the presentations, often tuning in for tips and recommendations, but when I do buy, I feel that I have the confidence and knowledge to be able to make an informed choice based on my skin type, age, and what I want to achieve. And this does not even take into account the wonderful pricing, easy payments and reassuring 30 day money back guarantee offered by QVC.
Alison’s honesty and passion for her beauty products and her extensive knowledge has often given me the inspiration to try different brands, all with a level of confidence as if I have had a personal beauty recommendation. I just could not hope to have the same level of confidence from visiting salons/department stores where, increasingly, staff seem only focused on selling.
Once again, many, many thanks across all levels of personnel involved in bringing us this wonderful event. I will raise a glass of wine to you all later this evening as I look forward to receiving my Gatineau TSV on advanced order.xx

I really appreciate Ojon Oil this was the answer of my girlfriend problem about her hair because when she coming out of the swimming pool she noticed her hair was very dry, brittle and unruly. But now I found out the answer to her problem.
