I caught up with Ouida Oliver, designer of contemporary dress brand Ronni Nicole. We're launching the collection tomorrow, so I decided to find out a little bit more about it...

G: Can you tell us a little bit about Ronni Nicole?
O: Ronni Nicole has been a leader in contemporary, moderate-priced dresses for almost 20 years now in the USA. We're always quick to respond to today’s trends and fashion statements and the collection is built with a multitude of colour stories for each season. We have five main collections a year, and we are constantly adding new products every month.

Hoorah for men's Birkenstocks!

Hoorah!!!!! We have men's Birkenstocks! The Arizona comes in four colours and is priced at £35.50 (excluding P&P). Birkenstocks are the ultimate summer footwear for men as well as ladies. Why not treat your father or husband to a pair for Father's Day, I am sure he will love them. I adore mine, they are just so comfortable and versatile.

My daughter's fundraiser for the Teenage Cancer Trust

Hi there everyone,

I just wanted to let you know how proud I am of my daughter Sophie (left). She organised a charity event last week called Trekstock, to raise money for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

The night was a massive success with the uber-cool Mark Ronson (right) headlining the entertainment. There was a sprinkling of music and fashion celebrities as well as a handful of well-known faces from TV.

Sophie did so well and I'm so proud of her.

In answer to a question posted last week...

I am 18 years old and I have my big end-of-year prom coming up in two weeks. I've bought a gorgeous halterneck floor length dress which is black around the bust and neck and the rest is silky with lots of purple and pinks.
HOWEVER i am a size 16-18 and my arms are horrible and flabby, and i dont want to show them off as everyone else going has nice normal and toned arms. Is there any shrug or something which would hide my arms but look good with my dress that you could advise me to buy?

Hi there Maz,

My first choice for your cover up would have to be a Pure & Simple pashmina - they are the lap of luxury and you will feel very special with one draped over your shoulders. A pashmina is also a fab year-round accessory, as you can wear it as a scarf and team it with casual outfits as well as your special occasion clothes.

You could also try Beth Terrell's metallic shrug - this may work with your dress if the print is more bohemian-abstract rather than floral. The shrug can also be worn as a scarf by just unbuttoning the sleeve buttons.

Earlier this week I ran into the lovely Claudia. She was sporting a very on-trend animal-print dress (right), so I took a few snaps to show you.

Her sleek and simple black dress has a subtle animal print, which is still making its mark this summer, but in more muted and neutral tones.

Clever dressing is key...

Claudia is a busy working woman, and she believes the trick is in 'clever dressing'. One-piece outfits are quick and hassle free, and can be easier to accessorise than a two-piece outfit.

"The only worry is the all-important shoes," Claudia added. Claudia chose kitten heels giving the outfit a smart and professional look.

Accessories make an outfit...

Claudia has finished her outfit perfectly with Honora pearl jewellery (left). Pearls give the outfit a chic and elegant look without looking as if she has tried too hard. Claudia informed me that no girl is ready to face the day without her lipgloss, and I spied a Bare Escentuals gloss in her stylish Stone Mountain bag.
