Getting the giggles with Ginetta and puppy mayhem!

I’ve been at work a lot this week – people are on holiday and many of us are doing extra days, so apologies if you tire of the same faces! However, it was very entertaining to spend time with Ginetta from Veronese on Wednesday (3rd) as during our 11pm hour she got a fit of the giggles! If you love her, and her usually quite straight style, you must watch this!

Gracy And finally this week, here’s the latest puppy update! Gracy has taken to sunbathing beneath the sunbeds instead of on top of them! And they’re both enjoying playing round and round the garden…and Holly…and the paddling pool! Honestly, no wonder they conk out for a couple of hours straight afterwards.

It’s funny because I spent some time continuing with my Mills and Boon story recently, and found out just how much these pups sleep during the day. They’re sleeping more than they’re awake! That’s babies for you I guess. Oh, and big dogs, seeing how much Holly and Patch also kip. Oh to be a pog. But it was lovely having them keep me company, considering how lonely the life of a writer can be. Well, a would-be writer anyway!

Talking of the book, I asked my Facebook people to help with some names for the yacht which the hero of the book (a millionaire, natch!) whisks the heroine off on.

Here are the choices so far – which do you like best?

  • Flamenco
  • Quelle Surprise
  • Q V Sea (clever but no!)
  • Inception

I rather like Inception but too much like the film? (Which is brilliant by the way. Brad and I gave it at least 8.5 out of ten – that’s high for me!)

What’s your fave or do you have another choice? To help you picture the yacht, it’s supposed to be a Custom Line 124 – the pics online are amazing! Maybe you can come up with something better!

Anyway back to the grindstone. The tidy up continues….

Best wishes

P.S. Can you believe I’ve been here a year next month? How time flies when you’re having fun!

I can assure you Debs, and you probably already know this, but it’s not only puppies who can sleep a lot. My boxers seem to do nothing but eat and sleep! Thinking about it, what else do they have to do? Unlike us, they don’t have to go to work to be able to feed themselves. We wouldn’t be without them, though, would we? I’m the same as you, I seem to have been at work non stop for the last fortnight. Still, annual leave coming up. Give it a couple of days and I’ll wish I was back at work!
    Keep well.

Hi Debs, love reading your blogs;you’re one of the few who do one regularly!!!I think a fitting name for the yacht would be ‘The Lady D’- what else???!!! I’ve always wanted to write a ‘lurve’ book, as my son says! They say there’s a book in all of us-so who knows, maybe one day.Take care, Love, Jill in Purley.

How could we ever tire of your fab fun and giggles?! I love the Aphrodite idea I have to say but your book so you choose! Again love the pogs and their antics. Aren’t they great entertainment!! Who would be without a dog – unless you’re a cat lover! Haven’t seen Inception but keep meaning to go. Will have to make time for a trip.
    Have a great weekend!

What about “Esperanza” for the yacht? Love the name anyway, but I think it’s meaning is also about hope. I can’t get enough of the historical M&Bs, but both those and the jetset, highflier type are out of my frame of reference, so I’ll have to stick to reading them. I’d love to have a crack at writing, but how do you find your “muse” (oooh, good name for a boat! lol)?? On the subject of names, I have a Gracie-May, she’s a russian winter white hamster, although she’s also part pig judging by her voracious appetitite! She’s a little madam too, but adorable. Her sister, Molly-Moo-Moo is my favourite (shhhh) because she likes cuddles – and doesn’t chew big holes in my walls!! Gracie’s discovered that if she wants to get behind my bookcase, it’s easier to chew the plaster off the walls than the wood to make a bigger hole so that she can fit! Cheekly chubby chops!

Hi Debbie, I didn’t watch QVC when you were last there but have watched you since you came back and I must say ‘you’re bonkers’ in the nicest possible way! You make me laugh so much and really cheer me up, you’re fast becoming my favourite presenter. Don’t change and keep up the good work.

  14. Louise August 19, 2010 at 4:29 pm -  Reply

Debs, I really appreciate your replies to my messages – not all presenters do. I’ll miss you being on screen throughout September; as I’ve said before, you have always been my favourite presenter. Hope Lauren has a good one – 21 already, seems like no time since she was on qvc as a kid! Have you kept the film to show her boyfriends? Not that you would want to embarass her, of course! I’m sure it’ll be an expensive month for you as well. Still, isn’t that why we go out to work? Well, my responsibility is my dogs – never wanted kids.
p.s. Just a query: could you see if qvc will start to mention the weight of the gold pieces they sell? They used to but, for some reason, we don’t get this info now.
    Keep well.

Hi Debbie never posted anything before but as I was watching you present the last Kipling show you said to a few people to contact you about the monkey names. I was wondering if there was a Debbie monkey (or Deborah – at a push) as I would really like to get one. Have several Kipling bags already and would like my namesake to add to the collection.
What about Rachael or Amy monkeys as my daughters love them too!!

Inception is truly brilliant! So is Knight and Day – great movie – Tom Cruise brought back the ‘wow’ factor with a scene-stealing kiss with Cameron Diaz too, so I’ll forgive him for being 5’7 (apparently!) hehe!
Actually I’d have had a cat too if I’d been able – sadly I’m allergic although I am currently trying homeopathy to help cope with it, following great results for my chiropractor Richard, he says!
    Best wishes

I absolutely love love love the Natural History Museum. I was a member when the kids were small. Lauren – who’s nearly 21! – went back recently and came home raving about how big the whale is!! So fun for all ages eh!! Haha. Must take my fossil, Fred, down there at some stage!
There’s going to be a special QVC presenters product this year which will feature a pic of Fred the Fossil! But I still don’t know what he is. A lovely lady called Jean Bright sent him to me years ago when I was on QVC first time round, and her husband discovered him on a beach near where they live in Suffolk. Glad the back magic is working!
    Best wishes

Nigel – some fab ideas thank you! I do like Vivaldi… will have to see! Thanks for taking the time and hope you got to see a pic of the yacht online – it’s huge! How lovely it would be to go on one! At least my characters get to find out! Albeit only in my imagination…

Lady D – haha – very funny! There are some great books on Amazon all about novel writing and I can recommend one on romance by a lady called Kate Walker – her ’12 point guide’ is highly praised amongst the Mills and Boon community! Good luck with it!

I like the name, and yes wouldn’t it be lovely to own one! Your comment about 4-pay made me laugh out loud – or LOL as they say!

  21. Debbie Flint August 26, 2010 at 9:27 am -  Reply

Sumira – thanks so much for your kind comments! You can have my hips if only I could take them off – haha! No not really, I’m getting used to them, although it would be nice if they were a bit more streamlined! Will pass on your question about the monkey names, keep watching on here for replies – it’ll be on the ‘main’ comments strand. Thanks for writing! Love to your little girl…
