Getting ready for Christmas… and so much more!

9

Hello!

I'm not entirely sure where the time has gone since my last blog….. it's flown by!

Every year I promise myself I'll shop even earlier for Christmas. I love the idea of being prepared well in advance and then relaxing, watching TV and spending time with my family without the panic of where's the sticky tape and oh no… I've run out of wrapping paper!

Last year we were fairly organised ;-) This year, well, we're off to a cracking start. A few weeks ago I bought Dad the cook's essentials soup maker for Christmas and during Diamonique Day I came across this adorable sterling silver elephant for Mum. I know I'm safe to show the pictures because Dad knows about the soup maker (he dropped so many hints!) and Mum never uses the computer or goes online!

The elephant sold out in next to no time – if you missed it hopefully we'll be able to bring it back in stock soon.

Mum has always loved elephants and as a little girl loved spending time at Bristol Zoo. In fact, my whole family simply adores wildlife. Everything from a caterpillar to a giraffe, even a house fly is spared a rolled up newspaper. We've spent what feels like hours trying to encourage a fly out of the front door. Just as the fly reaches the opening he'll take a 180 degree turn and come right back at us! Why is that?!

Misty and Bramble (our cairn terriers) aren't as patient and have been known to chase, catch and eat the occasional fly! Not to be encouraged or copied!

BCC logoExcitement is building at QVC. Our annual Breast Cancer Care show is on air from 6pm this Wednesday 16th October. It only seems like yesterday we were bringing you last year's show.

I'm thrilled to have been invited to host the event with Debbie Flint. With the generosity of our suppliers and your support, we hope to raise hundreds of thousands of pounds – I do hope you can tune in! Alison Kennan will be joining us with something very special to offer and we have surprise guests and charity auctions too.

The day before, Destination Gems is on air at 8pm. I've just this minute come away from a meeting with Doug, our gem buyer. We have a truly fabulous line up. It's the penultimate show before the Christmas break. In the last show my very own design is back on air and I'll show you the sketches and tell the story of how it came about in my next blog.

Also, I'm trying out the Bamix this week. I'm heading home shortly to make Orange Nutbread Shortbread from the recipe book which is included… how delicious does that sound!?

Take care and see you soon,

Charlie x

    Hi Charlie,
Yes it is great if you can get organised ahead for Christmas isn’t it. I have done most of mine, thanks to QVC. Have purhcased some great gifts. The soup maker looks great, your Dad will be busy, and lovely present for your Mum.
Yes I love Wildlife, and prefer most animals to human’s, but one thing that is not tolerated in our house is a fly. Nothing makes me more mad when you get a dirty great fly in your kitchen. I can guess where he has been before he came in my window. I read the other day that a fly carries two million bacteria on its body. And they carry no end of diseases, they can sense your presence that is why they always fly off when you get near, nasty dirty germ ridden things, my Collie goes and hides in my office under my desk when a fly comes in as he know’s I am going to get cross. Anyway enough of those horrible things.
Yes will be supporting the Breast Cancer Show.
Let us know how the Orange Nutbread Shortbread turns out, sounds rather nice.
Take Care and look out for the fly’s
    Love Jean X

Hi Charlie haven’t left comments on your blog in a while, well Twitter’s so much easier! My friend is elephant mad, went to visit her in Kansas a few years ago and she had elephants all over the house. Well it’s a symbol of good luck in some parts of the world. Maybe she needed a lot of luck, ha.
We’ve had the Bamix for a number of years now, very reliable and handy. Excellent for making your own icing sugar, save a fortune, also for soups too. But I’m sure you’ll get lots of foody use out of it!
Yes what is it with flies, get it out of the window and it comes flying back in. Hate spiders though, quick pass the vacuum cleaner!
    xx

    Hello Jean!
Two million bacteria….! That sounds terrible! Still, nothing will convince my daughter to roll up the newspaper! I don’t think it’ll put my dogs off chasing them either!
The orange nut shortbread was amazing… Picture to follow on my next blog!
    Take care

    Morning Charlie.
I must say congratulations on a great B.C.C. show last night. I managed to watch all the show [ for a change]. My heart went out to Ali last night and how brave she is. I must also say what a lovely tribute you made to the lovely Amica last night. I was so glad she was mentioned. On a lighter note we all thought how dashing you looked in your suit and bow tie. Bella was also watching [ wearing her pink t.shirt].I also managed to get a few items [ including Ali’s pendant]. Very impressed with your early Christmas shopping, I’ve just started.
    Best wishes to every one.
Love Debby and A BIG Whoof from Bella. Bella say’s 2 Whoofs to the girls.
