Getting to know Amanda Holden

5

We’re excited to share the news that Olivier nominated actress and television presenter Amanda Holden has joined us as a QVC Ambassador and has designed her very own homestyle range, BundleBerry. The entire range is full of colour and personality, with her favourite piece from the collection being the set of metal trunks. Amanda is currently a judge on ITV1’s Britain’s Got Talent and has had a varied acting and presenting career covering everything from drama and comedy to talent shows and theatre.

Read our Q&A to get the lowdown on her new range, her make-up bag must-haves and more…

Exciting news about your new range – tell us about your inspiration behind it.

“I’m inspired by travel; I’m lucky enough to stay in lots of lovely hotels and I usually get inspiration from these. I also get inspiration by looking at what colours mother nature has put together  – she doesn’t get it wrong very often! I love mixing textures and finding individual pieces in cafés and restaurants. If you go to a party, have you ever noticed when someone is looking over your shoulder for someone more interesting to talk to? If I ever do that I’m actually eyeing up the wallpaper or a quirky armchair that’s behind you!”

Why did you choose to call it ‘BundleBerry’?

“Bundle is a nickname that my husband called my daughter Lexi when she was first born – he called her ‘the bundle’! And we call my other little one, whose name is Hollie, ‘Holly Berry’ – so BundleBerry is a mix of the two!”

And we’ve heard there’s a secret ladybird..?

“Yes, that’s true! On every piece from my range, there’s a secret ladybird motif hidden away. The ladybird is a symbol of great importance and meaning for our family, but I don’t want to share the full details as I’m frightened the magic will disappear!”

What’s your favourite piece of décor in your home?

“I have a kitchen wall that was big, white and bare so I decided to cover it in ‘brick slips,’ which are tiles or thin bricks that give the illusion of an exposed unfinished brick wall. It looks fantastic in the kitchen,  really cool, and makes what was a very plain boring white room so cosy!”

Which is your favourite room in your house?

“My lounge! It’s divided into two by a modern open fireplace. One side is a comfy snug area to watch television and enjoy the fire, and the other is more formal with smarter sofas,  which we use for special occasions. I love the colour combinations of mustard yellow, blue and grey and on one feature wall I have these shades in a bold, geometric print wallpaper from Cole and Sons. I have also brought these colours into other areas of the lounge, for example; sofas, cushions, rugs etc. to continue the theme.”

Let’s talk beauty. What’s your personal make-up style?

“Definitely natural, I really just like a foundation and a mascara. If I’m not working, I go for a natural gloss. I like understated, especially when at home with my family, although I always like at least a base.”

What’s your favourite beauty trend?

“I love contouring; it’s the best invention ever! It gives real depth to make-up, highlights your best features and is amazingly powerful as an easy-to-master make-up tool. Fuller, more natural eyebrows is another thing I love. I was doubtful I would be able to grow my eyebrows back after the nineties, and luckily they did as they have actually given me a more youthful appearance.”

What three items in your make-up bag could you not live without?

“A contouring palette, lipgloss and foundation.”

If you’ve got a red carpet event coming up, how do you get yourself ready?

“I have a team of people that are fantastic at hair and make-up who help me get ready for special events. Angie Smith is my Stylist, who will have already helped me choose a dress and jewellery. However, just like Cinderella, all of it usually goes back to the shop at midnight – as everything is usually borrowed.”

If it’s the weekend and you aren’t working, how would you be spending your time?

“With the children, walking the dog, horse riding and finding a nice pub for Sunday lunch. I also love sorting the house, tidying the odd cupboard and pottering about being with my family.”

And finally, what most excites you about appearing on QVC?

“The fact that it’s live and broadcasting into so many homes around the country. It’s an iconic shopping channel that I have on in my own house and am influenced by. It feels like I have an open invitation into people’s homes and I feel honoured to be a part of it. I am beyond excited! Also a little bit nervous as I’ve seen lots of the other presenters in action and I think they are fantastic at their jobs… I’ve got a lot to live up to.”

We’re sure she’s going to do a great job! Take a look at Amanda’s BundleBerry range and tune into her premier shows this June on QVC.
