Getting back to normal after the Christmas rush!

Cassidy's pantoHi there,

I hope you are managing to plod through January! I do find it a bit of a struggle to get back into the swing of things after Christmas, and those of you who follow me on Twitter will know how much I dread the school runs starting up again!

Anyway, as Januarys go, weather-wise I think we have been quite lucky so far – but I'm sure that's all about to change! Luckily I'll be prepared with my EMU Australia boots and if you need a new pair this winter we have a fabulous Today's Special Value price on the higher style boots (Sun 19th Jan) launching midnight on Saturday! So don't miss out.

We had lots to celebrate in our house as we said goodbye to 2013! My son passed his saxophone exam and won the musicianship award at school and my daughter was awarded the endeavour cup at her dance school so it was treats all round.

It's the second Christmas my daughter Cassidy has appeared in panto. It's a huge commitment for the whole family and does dominate Christmas, but it was where I started so I understand how much she loves being involved.

Initially she spends half the day at school and the other half at the theatre, with shows either morning or afternoon, so I am her personal taxi service and we get to have lunch together which is great. Then, once school finishes it's either an afternoon or evening show so it's pretty full on with her being at the theatre everyday for seven weeks!

We all saw the show together on Christmas Eve and it was a fantastic show and she blew me a kiss at the end which made my Christmas!

We spent Christmas Day at my sister's house with my big sister being the perfect 'hostess-with-the-mostest' and we ended up on Christmas night in her new hot tub which the kids absolutely loved and they have been pleading for a hot tub ever since! I have said to them that I'd love the time to sit down on the sofa at home – let alone a hot tub!

We spent New Year at home and the panto finished on the 4th of Jan – which was great, but sad at the same time, with lots of tears! You know how emotional theatricals can be!

So now it's back to normal! Although, I'm not really sure what normal is! If running around juggling work, home, housework, and kids, suffering from lack of sleep and thanking goodness for the invention of make-up is normal – then roll on another year!

Have a great 2014,

Take care, Jilly x

    Hi Jilly,
Lovely to read your latest blog,it seems that I have been watching QVC forever, I remember your lovely wedding, the birth of your Son closely followed by your little girl, neither of them are so little now are they? but you really do seem to have so much fun with them, I love catching up with all of the news and I am sure we will see “names up in lights” one day!
Keep enjoying all of the activities and being a Taxi Service, I know they will thank you for it. Look forward to hearing from you again.
