Gardening success, competition and behind the scenes!!

Plant pot

Hello, well things are hotting up among the presenters! A few weeks back I mentioned the gardening competition. Thompson & Morgan have invited all the presenters to grow lilies – which they'll be judging later this summer (what summer I hear you cry – let's not discuss the weather!)

Anyway, I was getting a little concerned as nothing was peeping through the soil, until a couple of days ago that is…. let the competition commence! I'll keep you posted – and any lily growing tips are greatly appreciated.

BrambleDo you believe in tempting fate? Well, a few days ago I bumped into one of the nurses from our veterinary practice who look after our puppies, Bramble and Misty. I mentioned how it's been a while since we'd visited…. well, fate tempted! Two days later we turned up with Bramble needing a 'tick' removed. I love all wildlife but my admiration of ticks has lessened somewhat. It was a quick removal and we headed off for a lovely walk in the breezy weather shortly after.

QVC has been so busy. I thought you might like some more behind the scenes pictures. This is a snap shot of Dale during his Veronese show with the delightful Ginetta. I think I was distracting them a little so I headed into Studio A and took this photo. It wasn't until I viewed it back that I realised just how much lighting we have. I don't think these lights take your standard 40 watt bulb!

When I have some free time between shows and if you need to find me, our restaurant is your best bet. We have a lovely view over the park with a large pond full of enormous fish and the occasional duck swimming by. It's a great location and astonishing to realise it's a year since we started broadcasting from our new premises.

Morganite prizeDestination Gems is back on the 25th and on the 18th June we have our special fashion event. However, you can enter our new Destination Gems competition right away. Just like the last, simply tweet me a picture of you wearing your favourite piece of jewellery. If you're feeling camera shy, a snap shot of your hand is fine. The prize is this gorgeous morganite stone. My twitter is @mecharliebrook, but you can enter by post if you'd rather. All the usual terms and conditions can be found here!

Ok, time to dash…. I feel the need for some food….. there's a surprise!

Take care,

Charlie x

    Hi charlie.
Poor Bramble–ticks are not nice,[ thankfully Bella hasn’t had one YET], but the dogs next door have.
I have no idea why your not getting my tweets [ obviously i’m not pressing the right button—or as my nephew say’s ” I’m having a blonde moment”. I’ll get him to show me what I’m doing wrong when he gets home from UN: at the week-end.[ that’ll teach him!!!].
I must admit I nearly fell of the chair Tuesday when you picked my ring out—totally unexpected, but a lovely surprise, Bella got a surprise too. Thank you so much and I’m glad you liked it too.
I’ll keep trying the tweeting ] we’re both get a surprise when it happens].
    Take care.
    Debby [ Bella say’s a really big whoof.x

    Hi Charlie,
Glad the Lillies are beginning to grow, they do take a long time. I had some lovely ones which I got from QVC last year and had a stunning display. None of them have come up again this year, mind you can you blame them with our weather.
Yuck, yes Ticks are horrible, my Goldie had one just above her eye the other day, I have a special thing I got from the Vet’s which enables you to remove them yourself. Always keeep one in the Car and one in my training bag.
Looks very relaxing looking out onto the Pond. And wow what a lot of lights in the Studio.
Have a great weekend and good luck with the Lillies.
    Regards Jean.

Hello Jean, thanks for getting in touch and sorry for the late reply….!
A tick above the eye sounds horrible. Thanks for the advice I will certainly keep one of those little gadgets to hand. I’ll pick one up when next at the vets, which knowing my two, won’t be too far away!
The pond is lovely and relaxing although I’m quite enjoying the air conditioning of QVC right now!
    Best wishes
