Gardening and DIY, plus a caption competition!

Just for fun caption competitionHi all,

Thanks for all your great comments for my last blog – You've obviously missed Toby!

I've been off since Gem Day and been spending a little time in my garden – as I write I'm nursing an aching back – nothing serious but I can't help it – I love DIY and Gardening and having a go myself.

I know I should've had a delivery of one of those giant bags of slate chips rather than load and unload 21 smaller bags into and out of my wife's car, then barrow them into the back garden? I did draw the line at treefelling – this time!

I got a local firm to remove a 60ft Cypress tree – I did remove it's twin a couple of years ago with the aid of a scaffold tower and my brother-in-law – it took about 5 times longer (as I don't have a chainsaw) and about 20 trips to the recycling plant to get rid of it (thought of burning it on our open fire but unfortunately it spits too much). I also started jet washing – big mistake! As once you clean 1 paving slab you just have to do the rest then, brickwork, then the Conservatory, then fencing, then… you get the picture.

It's not about being tight, no honestly! It's just that I like to do jobs myself, if and more importantly whilst I can! I am better than I used to be at getting the professionals in – Mrs F has been trying for 27 years but she feels she has only just turned the corner with me!! Don't worry the house isn't about to fall down – I'm quite good at knowing my limitations and generally know when it's time to call in a Pro.

Other than that not much to report from home, (apart from a large crack in the side wall… only kidding!!)

I've got a great line up of shows this week at The Q. Highlights include 2 shows each of Peony flowers and Yankee Candles and I'm launching a lovely TSV Bridge Camera from Panasonic on Friday evening and a wonderful TSV offering from Whetman Pinks with Richard J on Sunday night into Monday.

I've included another Caption Competition "just for fun" and although Toby's not involved, I'm sure there'll be some great suggestions!

So please get involved!

Until next time,

Dale x

Just a quickie to whet your appetite then:
“Push off Silver, I saw hare first”!!!
Thanks for the birthday wishes D and G. As you can tell, I may be 50 now but I’m still as daft as ever …. which is just as well D when you’re asking us to caption what a stuffed furry toy is saying!! No offence Charlie Bears!!
I’ll be back over the weekend D, at least I hope so anyhow if I manage to get all my gardening and DIY jobs done! Sounds like you, on the other hand, can now afford to put your feet up! Look after that back.

Yes, that’s right ….. back again already! Well, when the silliness comes over you, you just have to roll with it, right?!
“My name is Gum Boots and she’s Nippy Noo
We are both Charlie Bears but what the heck are you?!
It looks like you’re wondering what I might be saying
But if a Charlie Bear could talk, good money you’d be paying
Two things for sure are she’s not Harey Potter
And you are a Silver Fox who’s truly off his rocker!”

I don’t know what you mean Ma!! Looks like D is into his toys too, eh D x

My comment was from Basil to D Ma. He didn’t have his glasses on you’ll notice!! Mind you he did think it was an unusually large rabbit. He was informing D that if he felt peckish it might be a case of hare today, gone tomorrow, if u get my drift :). I’m totally confused now MAD; I’m going for a lie down.
