Game, Set and Match… (and strawberries!)

Ladies Doubles Semi Finals at WimbledonHello, hope your week is going well.

Wimbledon Tennis has come to a close for another year and what an incredible two weeks it was.

The Sunday final with Murray and Federer was so exciting and very moving. I didn't get tickets to the final but I was lucky enough to go to semi-finals day on the Friday, and between the rain, I saw the semi-finals doubles with the Williams sisters. Brilliant!

Williams sistersI took my son with me, it has become an annual treat for us and we just love it. Unfortunately, with all the rain that day, I discovered a small hole in the sole of my trainer and my right foot was soaked by the end of the day…!

It rained and rained but the sun came out in the afternoon. We devoured pizza, hot dogs and of course strawberries! Food is very important on a day out (if you've seen me present kitchen shows on QVC you'll know how important food is to me!)

With all this changeable weather it's weird to think we're in July and schools break up now for the summer break. Let's just hope there's a change of weather for the summer holidays!

I'm now planning for an exciting show I have coming up on Monday 16th July at 5pm, Madagascan Labradorite. Then on Tuesday, if you love your diamonds, I bring you a three hour special from 4pm!

Take care and see you soon.

Charlie x

This weeks fact: the sun is over 300,000 times larger than Earth.

well i saw the final on tele Charlie and what a pair they were! federa still ‘has it’ it was nice and sad to see the ‘cold cookie’ murray show his emotions and hope it puts to bed that hes sullen and miserable!! i really felt for the lad, Charlie, if the suns that big surely it could shine some much needed warmth on us poor earthlings lol i feel we should be wearing winter clothes instead of summer talking of wet feet …i decided to be a kid(bearing in mind im 54 lol) although as you said in your last blog you were 40 i reacon youve lived them for the experience but you can be a dippy 30yr old in your head and i decided on a walk with the hubby got the urge to go puddle jumping and lo and behold i jumped and it was deeper than i thought and water went over my wellie tops lol good excuse to head for the nearest pub to dry out!!! the inner kid eh lol
have a good week your always a joy to watch

Hello Lynn, thanks for getting in touch. It was such an exciting Wimbledon final!
I’m still a big kid at heart. It made me smile when I read you went over your wellies when puddle jumping…! I haven’t done that for years! I’m still prone to making the odd paper aeroplane though when I see a bit of A4 lying around!
Take care and hope your feet are dry now!

    Morning Charlie.
Thank you for your thoughts I will pass them on to my friends family.
I’ve started to feel a little human after my op: last wednesday.

Hi Charlie, pleased you both got to Wimbledon Ladies final, it was a great match as was the Men’s final, I like Federer but felt very sorry for Andy and I hope he wins the Championship in the future. Do you get your tickets via your tennis club? I got tickets a few years ago and was on Centre Court but 20 rows back, was nice being on Centre Court though. Yes, I did have the strawberries and cream! I also got a grounds ticket a few years before that and also had the strawberries, they are very nice there! I too like trains, I like steam trains, my late grand father drove the steam trains along the Settle to Carlisle route! I love the Virgin trains too, they really go fast these days! I would not fancy the job of pouring tea/coffee at those speeds!! Lets hope we get some lovely hot weather soon! Take care, cheers, Christine xx

Hello Christine, thanks for getting in touch.
How exciting, being in charge of a steam train! I had a model steam engine as a boy. My Dad and I had loads of fun with that little engine. Wimbledon is fabulous isn’t it. Just wondering around outside the main courts is great as you can still see tennis being played on the outer courts…. Here’s to next year!
    Take care
