Fun at the Chelsea Flower Show 2011

Richard Jackson picks up a Page 3 model - photo courtesy of Roger Crump When asked to pick up a Page 3 girl, what would any gentleman do but oblige! There I was, wandering around the plant marquee at the Chelsea Flower Show when I bumped into Steve Bradley (who co-writes the gardening page on The Sun with Peter Seabrook), accompanied by this lovely lady (left) and The Sun's photographer, Roger Crump, who snapped this photo.

There were many other fabulous sights at the show last week including Helen Mirren (who had an insect-eating plant named after her) posing with a pantomime gorilla, and Gwyneth Paltrow gleefully enjoying B&Q's edible garden.

Amongst the new plants, I loved the new scented apricot shades begonia (to be launched next year) and a fabulous streptocarpus that flower for up to 10 months a year.

To cap what has been a wonderful fortnight for gardening, we at QVC are preparing for a series of special 10th Anniversary plants and flower shows, which will be broadcast next weekend (4th and 5th June). The planner has just told me about some of the amazing plants and products to be aired and all of them will have free postage and packing!

On the Sunday, we have a really colourful, easy-grow Today's Special Value offer for you – and that's with free postage and packing too! If you love plants, and you love a bargain, don't miss out on this spectacular weekend but you might have to be quick as, in my experience, the really popular offers sell out very quickly.

I do hope you can join me for my special shows!

Happy gardening,
