Well I'm home, and although I didn't exactly bring the sunshine back with me ( was pouring with rain when I landed at Heathrow on Monday), it's a bit brighter today! Fortunately I haven't really been suffering with jetlag but maybe that has something to do with the irregular hours I work anyway?
Last week was such a whirlwind that I'm starting to wonder if I dreamt it all – then I look at the blog and see all your lovely comments and I know it was for real! I can still hardly believe that I was on QVC's Red Carpet interviewing Oscar nominated actresses and celebrities and 2 days later I'm putting endless loads of washing through the machine – back to reality!!
It was bright and sunny but very breezy however that didn't stop me going for a walk on the famous Santa Monica Pier followed by a walk along the beach. I love the picture of the seabirds lining up in front of the waves, just glad that they didn't turn and attack a la Hitchcock's 'The Birds'!!
Apparently they film Baywatch on Santa Monica beach but NOT in February, there were no scantily clad lifeguards to be seen! At the entrance to the pier there is a Bubba Gump shop and eatery full of all things Forrest Gump and opposite a small, but revamped solar-powered fun fair! I would imagine it's a very lively place to be when the weather is warmer!
I managed a little bit of retail therapy in the afternoon, just a few bits and bobs for the family and actually fell asleep in the back of the car on the way back to the hotel – I don't think I'd realised just how tired I was.
There was time the following morning for a quick sightseeing excursion into the Hollywood Hills to ogle the homes of the rich and famous and enjoy the panoramic views before heading to LAX for the flight home.
I've had a few comments about some of the outfits I've been wearing – a Kim & Co maxi, a couple of Ronni Nicoles and also the pink flowered dress which is a new Taylor design coming up next month on QVC.
I should probably also mention that, while I didn't have time to take any video footage, all the photos I sent back were taken on the Canon Power Shot SX210 IS digital camera I borrowed. You know I'm not great with technology but that camera was a breeze, and I loved the 14x optical zoom which allowed me to get such great close-ups. I even downloaded the pictures and then attached them to emails to send back to the UK all by myself… not sure I should shout about that too loudly or they'll have me doing more 'techy' shows! LOL
If I have to pick a highlight (apart from the Red Carpet), I think it has to be sitting in the bar of the Four Seasons Hotel drinking Cappucino and eating the most enormous club sandwich you've ever seen… can I just say I didn't eat it all! It suddenly dawned on me what a fantastic opportunity I had been given to experience the glitz and glam of Hollywood! It's good to be back though…
Much love, Julia x
