For oily, sagging skin and on using mineral make-up…

Laura Geller Spackle Under Make Up PrimerQ: I'm 51-years-old and menopausal (sweats!) with a very oily T-zone and cheeks. I love Elemis products but would like to know which ones would give me a proper routine. I also have sagging skin with deep ridges at either side of my mouth (not attractive!).

My other problem is with what make-up to wear – I love the idea of mineral make-up but whenever I try it, it seems to cake and accentuate my wrinkles. I HATE the smell of lavender which seems to rule out so many products.

Alison: When mineral make-up cakes and accentuates the pores, it's usually a sign that your skincare routine isn't right. When you use a really good mineral make-up – and we only stock the really good ones – then this shouldn't happen. Our easiest ones to use are from Laura Geller.

It's also crucial that you wear a primer underneath your make-up, especially at your age, to create a smoothing effect. Laura Geller Spackle Under Make Up Primer is great at calming down the look of redness with its slight lilac tone. Plus, it contains aloe vera and creates a lovely calming feeling on irritated skin.

On top of this, I would then apply Laura Geller mineral make-up, which is easy to apply and is a great price too. This combination should help to reduce the look of your wrinkles as well.

For areas of sagging skin, I recommend Elemis Cleanser & Toner for sensitive skin which contains a chamomile cleanser and an apricot toner. Added to this you should use the Pro-Collagen Quartz Lift Serum, Pro-Collagen Eye Renewal and Pro-Collagen Marine Cream. Lavender is used a little in some of these products but they don't smell of it at all. If you use these as your core skincare products morning and night, you should see great results.

I am 54 with lines deepening particularly around nose and mouth with a couple at the bridge of my nose – otherwise skin pretty good but dry at temple area and oily T zone.
I have used several products over the years (not from QVC) but these are pricey. Alternatives sought please.

    Hello Alison,
I am 58 and had problem skin until a couple of years ago when I started using Liz Earle products. Iam generally happy with my routine, skin in general and make-up BUT I have two deep mouth(chinwards) lines and deep “no.11s”. I find all make up sinks in and makes them look worse. Have tried line smoothers and fillers which look great for a couple of hours and then the line lookes clogged and more noticeable. I can’t afford cosmetic surgery – any suggestions?

    Hi Alison,
I have oily skin which tends to break out easily – especially when I try new products. I have always found it difficult to find a cleanser that doesn’t cause break outs – I’m currently using a mineral soap which is supposed to help acne but I still have break outs on my nose, chin and hair line.
I am coming up t 46 in February – still on feel in my 30’s – I do get told that I look younger for my age but the lines around my eyes are beginning to get deeper and my jowls are sagging!!! I would like to use a skin peel – I’ve looked at philosophy and skyn pads but not sure which would be best. Could you please advise? Thanks. Judith

    Hi Alison
I’m 51 and need advice on the best products for a sun-damaged decollete. I use Liz Earle, Elemis and Decleor products on my face and neck. Thanks so much.

    Hi Alison
I’m 48 and would be grateful for your advice on two issues i have? Firstly i have very thirsty skin and the routine i use, although i am ok with, still fails to quench this for very long? My skin is mature and very dry, especially now i am post chemotherapy for breast cancer? I use decleor cleansing water, a seperate mineral water spray, Decleor, Experience de la age moisturiser and Excellence serum with the Baume at night? Could you advice me if my routine is ok and suggest anything which would help quench this thirst? In addition to this i would be grateful if you could recommend a good tinted moisturiser? I have become totally confused by the hundreds of different conflicting reviews i have read online and would appreciate your advice? Thank you so much.
