For fine lines appearing on the face and neck…

Philosophy When Hope is Not Enough Facial Serum Q: I'm fast approaching becoming 30 and am worried about fine lines appearing. What products would you recommend me using for my face and neck area? I have combination skin, which is in a reasonable condition.

Alison: At this age, you're right to start thinking more about ageing and wrinkles, as this will become more of a predominant problem area for you. The first and the most important product that you need to add to your routine is suncare. Simply adding an SPF to your routine could help to prevent you from having to buy so many products to tackle ageing in the future.

I'd recommend using products with an SPF and applying one every single day. Ultra Sun suncare is non-oily, non-greasy, easily absorbed and also contains ingredients to help reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles. Don't think of sun cream as just sun cream as you can use it every day on your face, neck, décolleté and back of the hands.

You'll notice that exfoliators and masks will start to work better for you now than they did when you were a bit younger. So quick fixes for you can be beauty products like facial scrubs and even dermabrasion. You can use a mask or scrub once a week to help to reduce the look and depth of wrinkles and to improve the absorption of other skincare products.

In terms of moisturisers, you could try a lightweight product such as Pro-Collagen Marine Cream. Use this all over, face and neck – you don't necessarily need a separate neck cream unless you feel that yours is bad for your age.

Otherwise if you have an existing moisturiser that you feel works for you from a skincare, make-up and combination skin point of view, then feel free to keep using it. Underneath, however, I’d recommend Philosophy When Hope is not Enough Serum which is brilliant at plumping the skin and preventing it from drying out, which will happen with age.

hello Alison, i use Decleor and my skin loves it. I use arromessence excellence followed by prolagene gel and then hydra foral or experience de l’age as an alternate every other day. At night i use angelique balm. My question is am i slotting in enough firming products, that is more of a concern than lines for me. I am 44 and my skin is good in general, i am cabin crew so hydration in products is really important too. Do you think my routine is good or could i improve on it? Thanks so much, tessa

    Hello Alison.
I need your help. I am 23 years old and I am trying to develop a buauty routine that will help my skin. I have normal/dry skin and I also have small blackheads on my nose and chin that will not go away. I have been using No7 cleanser, toner and moisturiser and a rosehip oil but I am looking for something better that will start to combat aging. I have a few lines around my eyes and forehead and I would like to find something to prevent them from getting worse. I’m not ready for wrinkles yet!!
Can you recommend a few products that you think would be useful?

    Hi Alison,
I am 36 years old and have always been extremely lucky with my complexion. I have always had lovely skin and people have always commented that I look much younger than my age. However, I have recently started to notice fine lines and wrinkles, especially around the eye area and also a general drying of my skin on face, neck & hands and Im concerned that I may be getting a slackening below my eyes. I hardly use any products at all although I have an interest in maintaining myself and have tried all sorts over the years. I have found that I can’t use a milk or creamy cleanser as I get spots so I have always ended up coming back to a one step liquid ‘toner’ type cleanser which works really really well for me. I probably need to change to anti ageing products of some sort and deal with my ageing problems though now so please could you help me to work out what I should use?

    Hi Alison,
I have just purchesed the Ultrasun face 30.
I also use prescriptives super line preventor, deccleor iris, and experience de l’age cream.
I have been told by ultrasun to use the face 30 before all of these. would that be correct. I usually use a sun cream over the top of all these. Also I sometimes use bionova. Would I use ultra sun over this or under.
    Thanks for your help

I am 57 and take a lot of medication for two cronic illnesses ana several other problems-[22 tablets in total a day].I use Liz Earle products, Clense and Polish, Instant Boost Skin Tonic and Superskin Moisturiser..While I am pleased with these products, I have noticed a lot more fine lines at the corner of my eyes and lines above my upper lip.You may say that this is the ageing process and you would be right. However I would like some help.

    Hello alison,
I am 44 and using decleor products. My skin is feeling the best its been for years. I have just bought from q.v.c some of the clientele products to try because my mother went through her menopause at 42. My main concern however is my eyes. They are creppy below my eye and on my eyelid. Also they have alot of fine lines, like a road map. Which products would you advise me to use. thankyou. julie.

    Hi Alison ,
I am 32 and have been using clarins Neck seruma s i have some necklace lines though I do not feel that it is working at making them disappearing . As for around my eyes I have started to get fine lines and have been using a boots essential eye cream . I use Mary cohr moisturiser as i have extremely sensitive skin . I am terrified of ageing so I was wondering are there any products or advice that you could suggest . I have also bought a rio face lift though maybe it is too soon to use that as i have no wrinkles on my face apart from around my eyes which is very little. Many thanks Angela

    Hi Alison
I am 52 with fairly good skin, and maintain a good cleansing/toning and moisturising routine, using Liz Earle and Decleor products and high factor skin protection all the year round as I live by the coast, but I have noticed in the last couple of years that my decollete area is becoming crepe-like and nothing seems to give it adequate moisture retention. I’ve been using Decleor neck cream for approx one year – but although this appears to improve lines on my neck, it does nothing to improve the decollete. Any suggestions ? Many thanks. Lindsey
