I read an article the other day about the power of footwear and how it improves our overall appearance. It was interesting to read how our eyes are drawn down to spy on the shoes before we can assess the overall outfit, essentially they can make or break what we are wearing.
We pound the ground on a daily basis; it’s fair to say that our feet take a hammering during the plod plod plod of everyday. Whether you’re a proverbial big foot of you have dainty little feet we need a variety of shoes for our varied lifestyles. Also take heed of wise words that come from the army about taking care of your feet they are one of our biggest assets and get us where we want to go.
Try to cover these categories…
These babies will take you where you need to go on a daily basis, the name of the game is comfort, good underfoot and some style thrown in for good measure. The everyday flat will do you for the run to school, they’ll go to work and even take you out to the shops. Try these ballerina flats (pictured above) from much-loved brand Clarks and your style and comfort needs will be taken care of.
Ankle boot buddy
Very cool, everyone needs a pair of these. Whether you go for brown or black, with or without a heel, these are a must-have banker! They will be great with your jeans and leggings, they are a wonder at the weekend but don’t over egg it on the heel. These will be your go to footwear when you’re not in your everyday flats. Try Rieker these boots (pictured above) with a fab fur trim, super comfy from the off
Going out glamour
You need something noticeable; shoes are arguably the most important accessory and an item by which you can be judged. Don’t hold back for going-out glamour, think bold, loud and mega personality. She who dares wins in this department; the stakes are high so raise your game. Sizzle in these Clarks court shoes (pictured above) with a heel to give you a little elevation but maintaining stability underfoot.
Leisure time loungers
Soft and cushioning with a bit of support, go for something that instantly feels good and motivates you. I think bright colours work well here to go with our leisure or lounge wear. The guidelines recommend we take 10,000 steps a day so pop these on to help you on your way. One of our favourite brands here at QVC and my Mum’s recommendation for those hoping to get more active – these Skechers (pictured above) offer cushioning and comfort straight out of the box, some great colour options too!
Warm and cosy heaven
Ahhh my favourite one of all! It’s totally possible to be comfy, warm, cosy and stylish all at the same time. You can of course with Emu, so just take your pick. There’s such a variety of colours to blend with all your outfits from town to countryside, day to night and casual to smart; some are even waterproof for that rainy day dog walk. Here’s my pick – Emu boots (pictured above) with some added buckle detailing to give them an edge.
The spring sandal
It’s time to show some skin and get the pedicures at the ready because the tootsies are coming out. A little wedge sandal goes a long way but embrace the funky flats too and get ready to rock with your lighter denims, your nautical outfits and your linens. Don’t discount comfort and make sure there’s a little give and something unusual. Keep your eye out for metallics because they’re all the rage. Step into spring in these sandals from Earth Spirit (pictured above) – they come in great colours and are comfortable too.
