Well, my goodness -where on earth do I begin? A good place to start I suppose would be by thanking you all for your interest and comments on my lack of blogging. I read your comments, and to be honest I had a range of very mixed emotions, from surprise to guilt with few smiles thrown in.
Surprise – I had absolutely no idea that so many of you wanted to hear from me!
Guilt – Since I hadn't blogged in such a long time I don't tend to follow what's happening, but November 2009 really is shocking!!
Smiles – That some of you were actually defending me!! How lovely are you lot?!!
So I hold my hands up whilst my head hangs in shame for not keeping in touch. So lovely viewers, you're going to have to help me out here if you want a fairly regular blog from me. I'm going to give you a quick synopsis of life "chez Dawson" and anything you want to know (within reason of course) please ask.
You may have noticed that I'm not on air as much as I used to be. At present I am only doing 2 days a week, Mondays and Saturdays. The odd Sunday will crop up if it's a fashion or beauty event, but other than that I am part-time. Some of you mentioned that you remembered I had a couple of ops on my shoulder a while back, but I am absolutely fine now thanks.
The reason that I cut my days is that I now look after my brother after mum passed away 3 years ago. He has been ill for a very long time and she used to look after him but now he lives a stones throw away from my house which is really handy. Just in case anyone thinks I'm out for a dollop of sympathy here, I actually see it as a privilege. Having said that, looking after 2 households and 5 men (1 husband, a brother and 3 sons) does kind of test your patience from time to time.
What age is the norm I wonder for kids flying the nest? My eldest flew the nest a year ago for Australia, but is obviously more of a homing pigeon as he returned 6 months later!! The only other female in the equation is the cat!! Seriously though, I wouldn't change a thing. Nothing makes me happier than having them all round the dining table and me playing the 'mama' cooking. So yes life can be a little hectic sometimes, but that's still no excuse for not blogging with my fellow bloggers!!
Actually I do have something going in my life that to say I am hooked, totally addicted to and absolutely in love with, would be a complete understatement. ZUMBA!!
About a year ago I discovered it and fully intended to start this form of exercise, but as usual (as you all well know), life got in the way. Anyway at the start of the year QVC asked presenters if any of us knew anything about Zumba. Muggins here answered by saying that I intended to start classes shortly and would feed back in due course. Well, the response was, and I quote "Excellent! You are so on our Zumba TSV in May!!"
So since the start of February I have been Zumba-ing. Initially as with most forms of exercise, I thought it would do me good but it was going to be a bit of a drag. Well 6 weeks on and I can honestly say I love love love it !!! And the results have been amazing – 12lbs lighter and more toned than I was 10 years ago! Bring on the Zumba!! They reckon it's "exercise in disguise" and how right they are!! Never done anything quite like it.
So folks watch out for yours truly bopping away (probably rather badly) on May 3rd!! And you'll be pleasantly surprised when you see who the guest is. Think "Strictly"!
And there you have it lovely viewers. Have I redeemed myself? I do hope so. I should warn you that future blogs probably won't be quite as lengthy and maybe not always weekly, but I do promise to stay in contact more often now that I know the score. Do feel free to keep me on my toes on this one!!
And please please, someone blog back soon. I would feel totally dejected if I didn't hear from you after all this. Ask whatever, and let's get to know each other. I'm now looking forward to it. Oh and finally, Margaret, if you're reading this, don't give up on me just yet please.
Lots of love and I'll be checking my blog regularly now.
