Yes, it’s August already – wow, this year is speeding by. But that means it’s also Fashion Month on QVC, and the theme of the month is ‘limitless style’. I think we all put limits on ourselves – we’re too old, we’re not the right shape, we can’t wear this or that because of this or that – when in reality, we can all look and feel fabulous through fashion; it’s just about finding the right colour and style for us. And I think unless you’re a regular QVC viewer, you might not realise what a vast range of great fashion we have here – even friends of mine are constantly surprised when they admire something I’m wearing and I tell them I got it at QVC. “Really? I didn’t think they did stuff like that!” they say.
So hopefully, this month they (and you) will be able to explore our ranges a little more! We have some great shows coming up – a two-day Autumn Fashion event on the 11th and 12th, some amazing Autumn Catwalk Collection shows, a big Fashion’s Night In event on the 21st and some new brands joining us too.
Adesso are bringing us a stretch weave shoe with metallic detail which is BEYOND comfortable! Here’s a picture of the black/silver option, and also me in the grey/silver – it also comes in navy, bronze and bordeaux options. It’s true to size (half sizes go up) and is fully elasticated so easy to get on, plus has a super soft insole and great grippy outer sole.
However if you’re more of a boot gal and want to get ahead for autumn, Clarks are offering the gorgeous Melissa knee high boot. There’s a choice of black leather, and then five suede options – black, navy (my choice – see photos!), grey, burgundy or brown. It’s a standard D-fit and true to size, with a neoprene back panel for easy fit. The low heel makes it perfect for every day wear. I LOVE these boots.
Outside work I’ve been working on the edits for my third novel which will be out in November. I was really, really worried about this book as I wrote the bulk of it when I was in a world of pain with my back problem earlier this year and really thought I’d written a load of rubbish, but thankfully my editor has said he loves it – phew! Maybe pain is good for creativity, eh?
I’ve also been working hard trying to get some fitness back, and finally having some success. (If you’re new to these blogs, I’ve been battling a back issue which got pretty bad for a while. I have managed to carelessly lose all the cartilage in my lower spine, which means I am ‘bone on bone’ which is rather painful! I had some steroid injections into my spine in March, which has helped a bit, and am now trying to strengthen my back through ‘controlled’ exercise.) I’m thrilled to report that the fantastic anti-gravity treadmill I’ve been using is working wonders – this week I managed to run 10km, for the first time this year! I reckon that in another few weeks I can attempt to do some gentle running outside again. The treadmill makes you feel several stones lighter though so it will be a shock to run with my full body weight, but I’m excited. I’m seeing my consultant again this week so hopefully he will give me the go ahead. Happy days! I think exercise is just one of the most important things for both physical and mental wellbeing, and brings me such joy, so I’m thrilled to be moving in a positive direction again.
By the way the lovely Caroline Sandry, one of our health and fitness experts at QVC has a new DVD out which I’m also loving – it’s very gentle on the back but still great exercise. She’s a Pilates expert and the DVD is called Pilates in Motion – it combines walking/jogging on the spot with Pilates and other exercises. Have a look for it wherever you buy your DVDs, I recommend it!
That’s it for now. Enjoy fashion month! Have a great week.
