So we have finally seen the first signs that summer sun is actually going to show it's face this year, all we have to do is prepare for it. What needs to be done? Well we'll probably start to get our feet out, wearing sandals and flip flops, so one of the first jobs is a pedicure.
I'm embarrassed to say only had my first ever pedicure a few months ago and I can't believe I managed with out them. If you have a day off or even an hour for your lunch treat yourself to a pedicure soon, it's relaxing and the results are great. Don't be afraid to take your favourite OPI, Nails Inc or Leighton Denny colours with you and go for something bright on your toes, so you can wear your feet out with pride.
Also we will be wearing fewer layers with a little more flesh on show, so the second job is to achieve a subtle bronze body glow, nothing ridiculous – just a bit of colour. Fake tanning can be a bit of a mine field and if it's done badly you can end up a shade of fairground hotdog or even worse the psychedelic colour of the congealed fat that seeps out from a cold kebab; both look equally bad. Achieving the a natural even colour can be a lengthy process that starts with skin preparation, then exfoliation, followed by application. I am a no fuss girl and there's no way I can keep that regime up all summer.
What we all want is an instant good look with a streak free natural colour that lasts and doesn't take hours to prepare. I have spent the best part of a decade trying to find the best product on the market because I'm not allowed to sunbathe due to a rare skin condition called mid-dermal elastolysis. So I'm going to try and road test all the fake tan that QVC has to offer to see which I feel is most suited to my skin and needs. There's a great choice on the website including James Read, Elemis, BareMinerals, Judith Williams and even Leighton Denny has a range out now. So this summer, don't damage your skin with hours of sunbathing, instead fake it!
