Facials and Fruitcake!

I do honestly think I have the best job in the world!

Not only do I get chat live the TV with old friends that I have made over the years from all corners of the world, find out about exciting innovations, get to dress in the latest fashions and try out brand new hair and make-up brands, but I also get to have a personal facial with the gorgeous Michaela from Gatineau and get to take home a luxurious gift pack of fruitcake! No wonder I’ve been at QVC for nearly 22 years!

Let’s start with the fruitcake. Well, first things first: it didn’t quite make it home intact. There I was on the North Circular at 2.30am in a traffic jam (!) – it was actually road re-surfacing and down to one lane and it looked like there had been an accident in the only lane open – so, what is a girl to do when a pack of fruitcake is sitting in the passenger seat?  Well, I thought I would just try a little nibble…

In my defence, this was seriously the best fruitcake I have ever experienced. Whole nuts including pecans (which I absolutely love) and rich cherries, and it was so moist and succulent. Before I knew it the traffic had cleared and so had the cake! I’d eaten the whole loaf! Thank goodness there were four loaves in the pack as I was meant to share them with the family.

The following night I checked the cupboard to find two further cake loaves gone: my son and husband had eaten one each! I am sure they are not supposed to be eaten quite like this but I warn you they are difficult to resist. They are made by The Original Cake Company – coming soon to a home shopping channel near you – and come in a boxed set of four fruit cakes: Mixed Fruit & Nut; Very Cherry; Rich Brandy; and Spicy Farmhouse, which I have planned for a girly coffee afternoon later this week and for which I have bought some clotted cream to go on top. Don’t think about the calories… it’s nearly Christmas and besides it’s my job to test things out!

Talking of testing, when Michaela from Gatineau offered to do a facial for me I jumped at the chance. QVC very kindly set a salon up at our headquarters using the beauty bed we use for the shows and I enjoyed an hour of sheer bliss. Michaela used all the components of the Gatineau Today’s Special Value that will feature all day this Saturday. It contains a serum that is worth £62 and comprises four full-sizes, including your choice of moisturiser worth £78 on its own (either Melatogenine or DefiLIFT) but yet the whole collection is under £60 + P&P! Michaela finished my facial with DefiLIFT and my skin felt so amazing, with a really healthy glow.

I’ve blogged about Gatineau before and it is a brand I use constantly. I do feel that as I age I want the best that advanced skincare technology can offer, but for me things have to feel good and smell gorgeous. With Gatineau you seriously get the best of both worlds.  It was really informative having the time to spend with Michaela and learn a little bit more in depth as to why Gatineau is so effective for mature skins. I left that room feeling 10 years younger!

Take care,

Jilly x
