Experimenting with the Yogi hair wand!

Kathy Tayler with new hairstyle Hi all!

If you tuned into QVC last week you may have seen me looking a little bouncier than usual.

My recently grown hair was beautifully curly, thanks to the Yogi Wand – a hair styler that transforms a head of straight locks into a shining mass of gorgeous curls. You can see the finished result in my 'before' and 'after' pictures!

Now that my hair is longer I can have fun experimenting with different looks, although it's normally my hair rather than me that decides how it's going to look on any given day – I don't always have a lot of control!

Creating the look of the moment

After a bit of practice I got the hang of winding my hair around the wand to create the curl and found the Yogi easy to use.

It seems that the fashion wheel is turning and, after several years of straighteners being the tool of choice, movement and curls (either soft and flowing or defined corkscrew) are the looks all the big names and glossy magazines are showing off.

My new hairdo reminded me of the last time I went seriously curly. I had a perm not long before my wedding day, to give me a 3-week honeymoon touring Italy with no hair worries. (Although looking again at my picture, I'd forgive you for thinking I was trying to do a 'Kevin Keegan'!) Well, it was 1987 after all.

What are your fashion faux pas?

It's funny, isn't it, how our tastes change? How a style we thought was the bee's knees at the time makes us cringe with horror years later. Have you ever made any major fashion mistakes that you thought were spot on at the time?

I'm usually a little late to embrace new fashion. I remember how I loved my colourful 'loons' (cotton trousers with no waistband, tight on the thigh and wide wide flares from the knee) in the early seventies. I swore I'd never wear what I thought were the dreadful drainpipes that followed, but sure enough, a year or so after everyone else, there I was in the ankle tight jeans.
This time, though, it's different. My 'yogi' curls are right in line with the fashionistas – there's even a danger I might get trendy in my old age!

More Yogi wands coming in time for Christmas

The Yogi wand is so popular it sells out as fast as we can bring it to you. But don't worry – I've been promised that there will be more in stock in time for Christmas.

If you're looking for a gift that brings the opportunity to create all sorts of lovely, modern looks, Yogi may well be your answer. The Yogi wand (item 432818) comes in black, pink, purple or zebra, and is rushing back to QVC very shortly!

Have fun!

    Hi Kathy,
I thought you looked great with the curly style, but I must say, that i think you look much younger with your hair longer and straighter. You have a lovely face, and it really suits you better,
I Have just turned 53, and have been growing my hair into a softer longer style, and i feel it is more flattering.
I really enjoy your morning shows, you make me laugh, you are a very normal likable lady, keep up the good work!
