First things first – I received a call last week from my boss asking if I was free this weekend just passed – “Yes” I replied, “it’s my weekend off”.
He went on, “Well, we would like you to conduct an interview”
“Er, yes sure, that shouldn’t be a problem” I casually replied. “Where is it and with whom ” I asked.
“Well you may have heard of her” he said, “she’s a singer called Celine Dion and you’ve got to fly to Miami, Florida”.
“CELINE DION!!” I spluttered, “… might have heard heard of?!”
At which point I could hear him chuckling and thought he was winding me up, “I’m serious” he said, “We need to sort out one or two logistics but it’s looking very likely.”
I turned to Mrs F and casually asked “Am I free next Sunday to fly to Miami to interview music legend, Celine Dion?”
“Yes, of course you are,” she said whilst looking at her calendar. She then said “but what are you really doing?”
Well just that!
I flew to Miami International airport on Sunday morning and was met by two charming representatives of Celine’s record company, Sony Records, and we made our way to the Palm Beach Hotel. That night we dined with Richard Arnold, of ITV’s Daybreak, and his producer – a lovely end to a long day. Check out the video below to give you a flavour of the location.

The next morning, we met for the press launch and were treated to a video presentation of Celine’s latest English language album; her first for six years.
I have to say, it’s wonderful and includes duets with Stevie Wonder and Ne-Yo. I’ll give more details and how you can pre-order it from QVC in my blog next week as its UK release date is 11th November.
I was lucky to have a 25-minute chat with Celine herself, who was a pleasure. You’ll be able to see my interview with her soon, and perhaps next week I’ll be able to include a video of her recording the fabulous single and title track from the album ‘Loved Me Back To Life’, written by Shia.
The album is Celine’s 27th and, incredibly, she has sold over 220 million albums in her glittering career. Unquestionably a global superstar.
She is very excited about her latest album release, and it was clear to me talking with her that she has a great regard for the UK and seemed delighted that QVC were promoting the album in the UK. More next week!
I return with Saturday Night Gifts this Saturday at 8pm (well, I suppose you guessed it was on a Saturday?) and, as usual, we will have some superb gift ideas, a competition, an H2O TSV and a recording of Charlie’s interview with singing star Matt Goss to look forward to.
Will I.T won’t be with me as he’s travelling back from New York with Ali Young, but I’ll be assisted by Marverine, our newest presenter – you’ll love her I’m sure!
On Monday I’m really excited to be presenting the first in a series of eight, of a brand new show – Andi’s Kitchen with TV celebrity/producer Andi Peters!
Andi loves cooking and healthy eating and I will be presenting a series of eight shows every Monday at 7pm with him. Andi was runner-up in Celebrity MasterChef and was recently a celebrity judge on the current series – he loves our extensive range of kitchen gadgets and equipment.
Andi and I hit it off the first time we met and I think there’ll be more than a little banter each week – so do try and catch Andi’s Kitchen this Monday at 7pm!
No photo comp this week, I’ll be blogging early next week. Until then stay warm, happy and healthy, if you can.
