Well, there’s no doubt about it now – autumn is definitely here. I love the changing seasons so I’m quite happy about it, but even though it’s getting a little chilly, especially when I have to get up at 3am to drive to London for the Morning Show, I absolutely refuse to put the central heating on until October, or indeed to go back into socks and boots just yet!
I have a few days off coming up at the beginning of the month and have decided that once I come back from that I’ll fully embrace autumn. I’m so pleased to see that the garden is clinging on to some glorious colour too. My asters have just burst into bloom, and my red hot poker has just flowered as well, luckily for it! I was thinking of digging it up as it hasn’t performed well over the past couple of years but it has saved itself…I’ll let it stay for now…
Another reason to love the new season is the excuse to buy a few new seasonal outfits. I was doing my twice-yearly wardrobe clear-out the other day to make some room, and pulled out a handful of watches. I used to love wearing a watch but for some reason went off them a few years back, and completely stopped wearing them. I suppose it’s because I, like so many people, use my phone to check the time now, so a watch didn’t seem necessary any more.
Recently I’ve started to like wearing a timepiece on my wrist again though – I bought the recent Diamonique Today’s Special Value one and love it. Some of my old watches were really quite nice too, so I took them to a jeweller’s to get some new batteries and check that they were all still working, and I’m really enjoying wearing them again. And coincidentally, our buyers at work have lent me a couple of gorgeous watches to wear on air recently so I thought I’d show them to you.
The one on the left is by Radley – it’s a style designed especially for us at QVC and comes in gorgeous Christmas packaging so it’s good if you’re thinking of gifts. Note the cute little dog charm! And then for a bit of bling, there’s the Loverocks Shaker Watch, with gorgeous sparkling crystals and a leather strap. Definitely one for a glam night out.
I also wanted to show you this Breast Cancer Care (BCC) pin. We have such a great collection in aid of this wonderful charity this year, with at least sixty per cent of the purchase price of each item going to BCC, and we are hoping to raise around £300,000 in total. This pin is such an affordable way to show your support, and so beautifully designed. It’s in rhodium-plated sterling silver with a pink simulated diamond on the bottom left of the ribbon, and is engraved with the words ‘Strength’, ‘Hope’ and ‘Unity’.
There can be few of us who haven’t been touched by this dreadful disease whether directly or indirectly – I lost a friend to it a few years ago. She died in her thirties and left behind the most beautiful baby boy – she had longed for motherhood and in the end experienced it for just a few short months. It was devastating, and there are so many tragic stories, but I think it’s important to remember that there are also so many stories of hope and positivity. This charity which does so much to help those affected is very close to our hearts at QVC. Thank you so much for all your support.
I won’t be blogging again until October so by then autumn will well and truly be upon us. I hope it’s kind to us all.
Love Jackie x
