Ellie the ‘Devil Dog’, tasty pies and fantastic offers

Hi to all, I hope you’re enjoying the last of the summer weather? It’s the usual busy schedule at ‘The Q’ but I’ve managed to grab a few days break and I hope you were able to as well.

Ellie the naughty Beardie

I thought I’d do a spot of gardening last week and reached for my trusty gardening gloves – they are as tough as old boots and I’ve owned them for many years – but clearly not tough enough for the teeth of the ‘Devil Dog’! Yes I’m referring to my little treasure, Ellie. Seriously she is so adorable and a real character but she has two traits I am working on trying to stop.

1) She still chews everything, particularly if it has my scent on it. Gloves, shoes, slippers and every plastic pot in the garden including the drip trays! She gets more than enough exercise and doesn’t appear to be teething (she’s 14 months now) and she knows we’re not happy but continues to do it?

2) She insists on giving certain women a full-on kiss, mostly whilst we are out on our many walks. She is quite picky who she chooses to smooch with – she never gives anybody a signal that she has lined up a target. From a seated position she can leap right up to an adult’s mouth in a split second – underneath that shaggy coat lies a shorter legged greyhound with immensely powerful hind legs. Fortunately, as she is so cute all her victims seem to find it funny or endearing or maybe they respond that way because they can see how embarrassed I am as I shout “get down”, “sorry” “naughty girl!” in quick succession. It’s true that they do encourage her to them as she bounds up to them, top knot swaying with that ‘Beardie’ smile, but it’s got to stop before she picks out a less forgiving target.

I just wanted to give all the pie lovers reading a heads up on a fabulous Today’s Special Value we have on September the 1st from The Real Pie Company. It’s the 14 Piece Assorted Artisan Pie Selection and features 2 x 230g Chicken and Bacon (exclusive to QVC) 2 x 230g Steak & Guinness, 2 x 230g Steak & Vegetable (new and currently exclusive to QVC), 2 x 230g Chicken & Leek, 2 x 230g Chicken & Mushroom, 2 x 230g Steak & Mushroom, 2 x 220g Apple Crumble (new and cutrrently exclusive to QVC).

I really love The Real Pie Company pies, as they are always ‘crammed to the crust’ and as you’ve read above, Brett and Christine have created some new flavours for their mouthwatering Today’s Special Value in honour of their 5th Anniversary on QVC. The pies are lovingly hand made in West Sussex and where possible, will only source their ingredients from Britain. They have also won many awards over the past couple of years including the prestigious Great Taste Awards.

So I hope you can join myself and Brett at midnight on Monday the 31st August for the launch. Just a word of warning that the initial stock of pies this time last year had sold out by the Morning Show (I think the advanced orders sold out pretty quickly as well). I’ve been lucky enough to sample the new flavour Steak and Vegetable and they are a-may-zing! I’m going to have the apple crumble tonight heated up with salted caramel ice-cream !

More fantastic offers

That’s not the only  Today’s Special Value I’ll be launching from a great British brand that week. On Wednesday, join me at midnight for a new Today’s Special Value offer from Dyson in the form of the AM10 Humidifier. I hope to be able to put it through its paces at home beforehand. So, it’s a humidifier not a dehumidifier and it uses ‘Ultraviolet Cleanse’ technology, exposing every drop of water to an ultraviolet light before cleverly sending a fine mist into your room utilising the famous Dyson air multiplier technology and can be used all year round. I can’t wait to try it! Obviously we’ll have an amazing Today’s Special Value offer and price.

That’s about it – I think I need to pop down to the garden centre and pick up a new pair of gloves – or perhaps I’ll just get Mrs F to do all the gardening, so my scent isn’t on them! Genius!

Ellie the Beardie

Take care and try not to kiss any hairy dogs whilst you’re out and about!

Dale x

Hi Dale, love ur dog. But can you not get the hair trimmed around the eyes. I see lots of dogs with their eyes covered in hair, rendering blind. Why do people want their dogs to be blind. Can you imagine walking road all day with hair scratching at your eye balls all day! But she is fab!

I am having the same problem with my new rescue puppy of eight months. He too heads for things with my scent on but particularly likes the contents of my handbag. Came in the other day to find him on the coffee table with my glasses in his mouth another time he took my purse opened it took out all my cards and when I found him he had my bank card in his mouth more worryingly QVC was on at the time showing the Real Pie Company!!! Waiting to see what he ordered!!!

Oh Dale, reading this did make m laugh! I love to hear about yr dogs latest adventures, I’ve got 3 gorgeous cats who often get into mischief but Ellie seems to go the extra mile to keep you entertained – id have loved to have seen your face when you went to put your gardening gloves on!lol
It would be funny to see Ellie in QVC modelling some of the lovely dog coats – can you imagine the chaos she could cause especially if there were cooking demos going on at the same time, Simple Simon pies wouldn’t stand a chance of surviving long enough for you to get a look in!lol

Wishing you, family & of course pets a wonderful Christmas & New Year.

Very best wishes Jayney Yeomans xXx
